I noticed that same thing on First Rider night. Granted, we were all there for one thing and eager to talk, but there was also an inordinate amount of singletons there. Many folks (myself included) came by themselves for whatever reason. (money). That also made striking up conversations a near inevitability. I met some nice people.
Hey, some of my best, lifelong friendships have been made while waiting in line.
When I look at that video, I see the difference being that they replaced some of the magnetic brakes with friction brakes. In the old version, it looks like there are just magnetic brakes and tire drives. The brake in the video pointed out as being "open" looks like a magnetic brake to me, which is exactly what magnetic brakes should do.
The thing with magnetic brakes is that they are great at brining a ride from any speed down to, say, 5 MPH. But they are really bad at slowing a ride down from 5 MPH to 0 MPH. That's why there is always something else to bring a ride to a complete stop. B & M uses magnetic brakes at the start, then friction brakes after. Intamin uses magnetic brakes at first, then tire drives for the final stop.
My best guess here is that for whatever reason, the tire drives weren't enough on Steel Vengeance to stop the trains as fast as they originally expected. By adding friction brakes, the trains can be brought to a full stop faster.
I really don't think that two train operation is going to have much of an impact on the line length outside of early entry. Once they add the second train, they are going to add fastlane back on. While the capacity of the ride will approximately double, half of the rides are going to go to the fastlane line. As far as how long the main line is, I suspect that the length there is simply how long are people without fastlane willing to wait in line, and that isn't going to change much.
Maybe let 1/3 FL+ in instead of half, that would at least give the regular line a gain with 2 train operation. I really can't guess well but I'd think FL+ would still manage to be sub 45 with that besides the busier days. I would take a good guess it will be half though. I think it will take 3 train operation for a slight gain on the regular line.

A very big pet peeve of mine, the ride has absolutely no breaks anywhere on the ride. Could it be BRAKES that everyone is talking about?
Oh sorry...thank you it takes people with grammar pet peeves for me to learn. I was bad with could care less until someone really pointed it out to me.

Zipper pockets required?
I thought I read on here that cargo shorts have to have zippered pockets. Is this true?
I have some with pretty good buttons but don’t want to risk getting kicked out of line tomorrow.
I can get a locker but would rather not.
There is no requirement to have zippered pockets, I think anyone can put their stuff in their front pocket no button or zipper if they want. They do advise the general crowd to put their stuff in a secure pocket. Your button pockets should be fine for keeping your stuff secure.
