Steel Vengeance

Just wondering if there has been an downtime for maintenance at all at the hoe downs?

Yep... Read the reviews; one night had some significant downtime. Maverick did as well. But apparently when the ride is running the line moves pretty quickly.

These topics are getting muddled, but I’ll throw this in here.
I was at the barber shop today and the barber’s husband is a big roller coaster fan and visits CP a lot. He had tickets for a Season Pass night but for some reason wasn’t able to go. So he and his mom got a cabin and plan to go opening day. Needless to say my eyes got wide and the barber said “I know, it’s a baaaad idea.” (He’s not a ride-rider at all and thinks a day at CP is a miserable time)
A saving grace is that they will be able to walk from the campground to the resort gate, will have early entry, and they plan to show up bright and early. So good luck to them.

I am flying up on Friday to head to Opening Day. As we get closer, the weather forecast gets nicer, and the reviews for Steel Vengeance just continue to be an A+, I am having a little regret on that decision. I worry this will be Columbus Day Saturday. Or worse.

Just waited in line over 3 hours for this ride after driving 2 hours to get here and can honestly say that I don't regret waiting a single minute.. I met really cool people in line which made the time fly and then finally got on, back seat, even.... This ride is fantastic. If not my favorite, the only coaster that might beat it is Skyrush.
Rode only 3 rides, ate a bunch of free food and drinks, met really cool people and had one of the best times I've ever had here.
Great job, CP! Hope you do this more often. You made many people very happy tonight.

Cartwright, just get the fast lane plus. It is $110 for opening day.

I just booked my trip flying in on the 30th and out on the 2nd. It will be my first Coastermania.

Skyrush is currently my favorite coaster I've been on. I was wondering if SV would top it.

Just got my first ride on it tonight. It's my new #1 coaster! The park hit a grand slam with this.

CoasterMania is my favorite day not only at Cedar Point, but of the entire year. Christmas? Pfffft. You can keep it. I expect to get a couple rides on Steel Vengeance during the morning CM ERT & early entry and then we may or may not pop for FL+ depending on how ridiculous the line gets and how ridiculous the ride is...

I definitely need to get back to Hersheypark to be able to decide.

Skyrush is a great ride. I enjoyed it and rode it many times. However, IMO it comes nowhere close to Steel Vengeance. Especially in length, height, speed, comfort, dynamics and even loading procedure.
In other words, everything.

I just visited Hershey Park last month, I thought Skyrush was good, but nowhere close to Steel Vengeance

I don't know why they don't have everyone push their own restraints down. I think that's hurting capacity. And I heard someone say that they can't run 3 trains because the way the blocks are set up the trains would be stopping in the MCBR if they were stacking and if a train stops there, it will valley before getting back to the station. I don't know if that's true or not. I would think that they would design it so that it could make it back to the station in the event of an MCBR stop.

I have a platinum pass so I should be able to get it for the regular Fastlane rate. I still may not even bother since it could be one of those days where even Fastlane has 45-60 minute waits. My expectation for the day is to simply walk around and be happy to be back. I'll have plenty of trips this year, so this trip likely won't be for riding. I hope to get a ride on Steel Vengeance, eat some food, enjoy the weather, and hopefully get a few rides on some lower tiered coasters that potentially could have reasonable waits.

Skyrush and SV are nearly identical on height and speed. SV is definitely longer. From what I remember of Skyrush from 2 years ago is that it was more intense and MUCH easier to load and unload. The lapbars are not great, but at least they do loosen a bit while you wait outside the station AND you get to lower them yourself.

They told us on media day that it makes it easier for them to check the seatbelt. I think the lap bar pretty well covers the belt once it's down.

Goliath at Great America did this when it opened, too - but I don't know if they still do it.

^They still do that at Great America. The ride ops push down the restraint for every rider. I will say that they've really sped up the operation though. It's a speedy process any more, and the line moves pretty well. I expect operations will be slow (at least by CP's standards) for the first months, but will improve over time.

I'll be going on opening day. Haven't been to one since TTD.

I got a room at the express hotel for early entry. Thinking of getting there an hour before that to lessen the wait time. Will they allow you to Park in the Magnum lot that early?

"Thats when friends were nice, to think of them just makes you feel nice"

No.

You'll have to park in the main lot and walk up the boardwalk (if you can) if you want to get back there now.
