Yeah although one time near the end of the season one of our ride prides was at speedway and would not shut up on the mic.whenever he was not loading people he was talking over the mike.very annoying.

Hey Erin, do you remeber Ryan Watson? Oh my goodness I've never heard anyone spiel so fast in all the years I've been going to Cedar Point. And I never heard him make a mistake.

*cringe* i've never rode the mantis.... Sounds awesome tho :)

Speils can be a lot of fun especially when a supervisor isn't around, at PKI we have some good ones for those who are sitting on the handrails, smoking in line, or for those people who  wish to ride the airgates instead of the ride itself.

You know, after being on these forums, I feel really bad now for a poor fellow running the western cruise the year before Mantis was built.  I knew almost all of the spiels by heart just from riding the rides all summer long, and this poor fella was trying to do jokes, and I kept hollering out the punchline before he did.  He was pretty good natured about it.

You mean Paddle Wheel excursions before Mantis was built, right? Or Western Cruise before Iron Dragon was built?

How come I find it very easy to believe that the Paddlwheel crew would make a bunch of old,white,midwestern people sing OutKast. Et tu Nate.

My bad, it was the Paddlewheel excursions.  I recall asking where the entrance to the new ride would be, and he responded with "are you one of those internet people?".  I replied innocently "internet people?".  He said he wasn't allowed to say anything about the new ride, but when we rounded the corner where Mantis now stands, he pointed and winked.  After giving away his punchlines, I thought that was rather nice of him.  And some people wonder why I think CP's ride ops are the best.

Annie, yeah I remember Ryan! I loved that kid. He was great to have on my crew. yeah, he spieled really fast! He was also good at intimidating people when they did something stupid, cause he was in the ROTC or something like that. So he used boot camp skills on the platform. hehe
