How do you think that the view of the lake with be blocked while riding GW? They situated WT so that the spike are on either side of the wheel. I think it's a great placement. There are going to be some very cool photo ops from the Giant Wheel. It may be a little noisy, but if you have a good seabreeze, I doubt you'll be able to notice.
The situation not only helps because of a new coaster, it also definitely helps a portion of the park that is extremely dead. You can go over there in the busiest of times in the summer, and it lookes like you just entered a ghost town. This is a much needed improvement for that area.

I am sure Mantis will be painted. There hasn't been any substantial proof that it won't!

Yes, they did not paint Raptor till very late. It's to crappy outside to even think about painting.
Reading some more of this....
The beach itself doesn't seem to be too prone to blowing sand because the lake keeps most of the sand moist and heavy. Still on dry days there could be blowing sand.
One solution could be to spray the beach around Wicked Twister with a light mist of water pumped from the lake (wont cost'em anything put the pump),much like they spray the infield of baseball fields to keep sand form blowing.

I'm sure CP has a few water pumps... ;) But the sand isn't much of a problem for Mantis. Unless it's very windy and the wind carries the sand.
