So who thinks Mantis's 2nd station is being built?

How do you think that the view of the lake with be blocked while riding GW? They situated WT so that the spike are on either side of the wheel. I think it's a great placement. There are going to be some very cool photo ops from the Giant Wheel. It may be a little noisy, but if you have a good seabreeze, I doubt you'll be able to notice.

The situation not only helps because of a new coaster, it also definitely helps a portion of the park that is extremely dead. You can go over there in the busiest of times in the summer, and it lookes like you just entered a ghost town. This is a much needed improvement for that area.

I like the location they picked for WT. That part of the park will attract more people now and spread the crowds out a little more. As for the sand in the eyes, I never thought about it. It could be a problem on some days for riders.

I also have to agree with the location of wicked twister...I think a big reason it was put there was to attract attention to that area of the park...It was getting pretty empty over there...I could remember heading to that part of the park if I needed to take a short cut to move a little faster across the park...I know that strip of land only goes so far but it was an easy way to beat the crowded midway...Some games and even the aquatic stadium was suffering from lack of people visiting over there...I think it was a good move and I think the view is going to be great on WT...When you're standing in line on a hot summer day that breeze off the lake will feel great...Nothing beats a cool lake breeze on a hot summer day at the point
I also agree that for crowd speading, that location was a great pick. I don't think I'll mind grabbing a pair of safety classes, with a around the head elastic strap..... :)

I think the location is just fine. They needed something over there anyway.
I still have faith in Mantis getting painted but not the station being built, although I would love to see both happen.

I think that wicked twister would of fit in good in the back of the park near mean streak. Right now the back of the park is starting to look like a ghost town.
Just out of curiousity, how would you envision that working with the "Frontier Town" theme?
So why aren't they going to paint Mantis? Did the whole situation with VertiGo put the project on the back burner? Thats just great...even longer before Magnum gets repainted then.
I will be betting on next season!

Should have listened to me a month ago when I said no paintjob for manits!

Have faith CP_bound, the Mantis still might get that fancy new paint job we are all hoping for.

Cedar Point, the cure for the Summertime blues!

Does anyone know how long it should take for a new paint job on a coaster her size? 35 days and it can still be done. Maybe (most likely), CP is waiting for that warm spell we're looking forward too and this last blast from winter is keeping them from starting. Hopefully!

Mantis Crew '02 - Where's the unload station at?!? ;-)

They didn't start Raptor last year untill the begining of April or was it later?

I am sure Mantis will be painted. There hasn't been any substantial proof that it won't!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

Yes, they did not paint Raptor till very late. It's to crappy outside to even think about painting.

Reading some more of this....

The beach itself doesn't seem to be too prone to blowing sand because the lake keeps most of the sand moist and heavy. Still on dry days there could be blowing sand.

One solution could be to spray the beach around Wicked Twister with a light mist of water pumped from the lake (wont cost'em anything put the pump),much like they spray the infield of baseball fields to keep sand form blowing.

I'm sure CP has a few water pumps... ;) But the sand isn't much of a problem for Mantis. Unless it's very windy and the wind carries the sand.
