I was at Cedar Point the other day and I never noticed how many workers walked around picking up trash! They do a great job picking up trash and keeping the park clean. Cedar Point could use a little help cleaning in the que lines but otherwise it is a really clean park!
If you really wanna be impressed, catch the last train on Millennium or Top Thrill. By the time you get out, it'll probably be past midnight, and you'll see the night crews doing their stuff. They literally hand mop every inch of the midway, especially the area in front of food kiosks.
I was shocked the first time I saw it, it was like "wow, they really do make a huge effort." An employee told me they empty and scrub out every single trash can every night, too.
Mad props to yalls :)

2009 - Games Supervisor
2010 - Season pass holder.
I also saw them powerwashing the midway, and all of the new game stalls over by MaXair. Good job on keeping the park clean!
It's still clean, but I don't think it's quite what it used to be.

It would be nice to see the spider webs get taken out of Top Thrill Dragsters station at the top. They completely ruin the effect of the different colored lights on it.

Yeah. About that.
When I was in the park at 5:30 AM for CMania, there was stilll food in the trash cans, complete with mustard stains and everything.

Yeah.... between the months of November and April. During the season they only clean the tops.

Not quite, they use motorized street sweepers and leaf blowers. Sometimes they'll hose it off.

Wow. When I worked nights hauling trash in the late 80's we never power-washed the midways, or cleaned the tops of the trash cans.
We sure had lots of fun though. If you want the real behind the scenes tour go at night. Drunk kids + a whole amusement park + not a lot of security presence = Sex in unusual places! There were many a night when, during our rounds we would find amorous couples, er, coupling, in all sorts of places inside the park, or along the beach.
The best one was when we caught a couple on the infield of Cedar Downs. We got on the radio and in no time there were dozens of night workers there. We then turned on the lights, much to the horror.
Good times!

From what I understand, this hasn't changed much... Perhaps just moved to the dorms a little bit more.

My wife went to culinary school in Pittsburgh (PA Culinary) she was in the "Adult" dorms, which just meant you were over 21. Apparently she heard some stories about the non-adult dorms that were quite disturbing. So it's not just Cedar Point, its anywhere you put lots of "invincible" college kids with minimal supervision.

Tambo,
Sounds a lot like the old Geauga Lake days pre-2000. Unfortunately the corporate giant squeezed the life out of the park and all alcohol related hyjinks ended.
But oh, those were the days.
I saw the spiders/webs like crazy at MF the second time I went. Big ones too! I kept looking every other time I've been and it was never that bad again, but I remember the spiders all over the MF queue and Power Tower queue. It made for scarier lines, I'll give it that, especially for Halloweekends...
Love it or Lump it.

Thank you for the feedback about the park. Last season, I worked Group Utility, (the garbo guys for the park), and we took great pride in the park. Sure it wasn't the most glamorus job in the park, but it was possibly the most important. Even when it was raining buckets, we were stll out there. Some times, the park would close a 10pm, we wouldn't be gone until about 1:30 AM.
I had the pleasure of helping numerous guests from around the country (including my home state of NH), and at least a dozen countries I can remember, including Nigera, New Zealand, Gahana, S. Korea, and Germany, to name but a few. Had one lady say to me and i quote "Keep up the good work. I tend to trust people who are outside working their tails off.
Our proudest moment was during one Halloweekend. We did the whole park with half our normal crew, and only had six full cans called in all day.

They actually call in full cans? That's quite impressive...
