Snake River Falls opinions

Well, I see people when it's cool out riding SRF!!!!

But for me, I only ride it when it's scorching hot out, cuz I don't like to be soaked all day long either.

I think the themeing was supposed to be just like maverick described, from what I've seen. They had a brochure that showed the steel framework of the ride covered to look like a mountain, with even an alpine hut about half way up. Too bad they never finished it, the themeing would have been cool.

Any links? I have never seen this in any of the brochures.

I love SRF and think it was a great addition to the park when it debuted, and still think its a great ride on a hot day. For me, its not about just the ride. I always spend quite a bit of time on the bridge after riding.

First off, nearly 10 million riders have been on SRF since it opened. I think that's pretty impressive. But it opened in 1993, and there are only ridership numbers on the site since 1996. I'm wondering if it's because they only show numbers for the last 12 years, or if they didn't keep track of ridership before 1996. Logic points to the former, but I'm just not sure. Anyway, I love SRF and I'm pretty surprised at how low the ridership was last year. Hoping for the best in 2008!

At CP, I typically dont care about theming, at all. Given their history, they really just should avoid it altogether.

However, Frontier Town is the one place in the entire park with theming. When I watch SNF, it's just another example of CP taking shortcuts and turning something that could have been incredible with the theming they planned into something that is just really good. Which is bothersome, at least to me.

The same holds true for Maverick, IMO. They had a chance to really create an incredibly-themed ride, and instead just built an incredible ride.

Wow. I can't believe how low the ridership was for 2007. Hopefully it will rebound in '08. Would perhaps their new policy of only 3 people per row that they implemented have anything to do with it?

Looks like Thunder Canyon had more ridership in 2007 than SRF.

As far as the ride experience, my wife and I rode the one at Dorney a couple years ago. I had always avoided it at CP (we usually dont go to get wet).

I have to admit, it was much more fun than I thought it would be, and feeling that giant rush of water was pretty incredible from inside the boat. On a hot day when prepared, I would certainly go again.

I can't remember which day it was last year, but I had never rode Snake River Falls before and I thought I would. Unfortunately the ride before mine got stuck at the top. Needless to say I was glad that I didn't have to walk back down the steps. So I still have yet to ride it.

The 1993 Park Guide shows a little of what SRF's theming was to look like. You can see a mountain and a few 'logging huts'. If I remember correctly, the 1993 Media Guide I was sent had a larger picture and showed more extensive theming. I never cared much for SRF. I rode it maybe twice when it first opened, but I always liked White Water Landing better, and perhaps Mill Race...

Yea I think this ride is amazing. But I have to say it's only fun if you like getting wet. I LIVE for these kinda rides. When I go to a them park and its so cold I cant ride any of the water rides. It actually brings me down a little. =(

I really like the ride alot also, but I have to be dressed for it. I usually go on Snake River Falls and then Thunder Canyon 5 or 6 times in a row when the park is not crowded, wearing swim trunks and flip flops. I don't think I'd go on it in street cloths, takes much too long to dry.

I hardly ever do the water rides at CP. Its either too cold, or the line is too long (and the Renegade River at Soak City is calling, with no line, and is a better attraction:).) The water rides at CP are mediocre at best, for a local examples KI, and Kennywood both have better water rides and like I said if Im in the mood to go on a water ride, that means Im in the mood to go to Soak City and Im just going to head there.

I've only been on this ride a couple of times, once when it was pouring rain outside, and I figured I was wet anyway, so whats more water going to hurt.

Other than that I don't care to be soaking wet in underwear and clothes that I'm walking around in all day long. Unless it's blazing hot outside, which I don't go to CP on those days because I'm so used it being freezing here in Michigan that hot weather actually makes me feel dizzy and tired too much.

I have rode Thunder Canyon 3 times, and have yet to actually get wet on it.

Wearing shoes on SRF makes you like all athlete footish. Your feet itch all day after riding SRF. I personally dont think its worth it, plus if you didnt wear them their would be a chance someone stole them. Really, the themeing shouldnt matter, if you really want to get cooled off I dont think themeing would be anywhere in your mind.

I only ride if I am in a bathing suit, or I will be gross all day. :)

Snake River Falls was better when they didn't have the brakes added into the drop.

I wasnt aware that SRF had brakes anywhere on the drop.

If you look at ridership for all rides, you will notice they all declined in 2007. I think attendance was lower overall for 2007.
