It doesn't seen that many people talk about this ride. I loved it when it opened in 1993. I worked up there that year and we had several "beat the Heat" ride nights on it. I watched the opening ceremonies and CP dignitaries ride the first boat and others clap whenthey splashed. But I havn't gone on it for a while. The drop is great but the force of the splash sometimes hurts. And since I have gotten older I don't want to ride real soaking water rides unless its real hot. Its a nice looking ride and the figure 8 design is unique. I think Dorney is the only other park with a shoot-the chutes with a figure 8 design.
It's more exciting than most large flumes at other parks, but I don't like getting soaking wet anymore regardless of how hot it is outside. I remember reading somewhere that the ride was supposed to have pretty elaborate theming but was cut from the budget. Anyone have more info on that?
Cedar Point rocks my socks.
I'm not sure if the budget was cut, but if they would add to the theme by enclosing the tower portion of the ride to look like a mountain or hill that a waterfall normally comes from, it would enhance two attractions.
The enclosed tower would also serve as an awesome tunnel for CP&LE. Not only would it be a nice addition to CP&LE, it would also fix the design flaw experienced by train riders when they get wet from the overflow from the tower.

I'd like to ride SRF more often, but it's never operating when I visit. I tend to visit in May and early June, as well as Fridays late in the season when it's slow. At those times, SRF and TC never seem to be operating, even if it's warm out. I got lucky when I went in August and got on TC, but SRF was closed.
The park seems to be really uptight about running water rides, or hell, even opening Soak City if it's not blazing hot and sunny. 70 and overcast isn't enough to keep me away, but they act like hell has frozen over.
I think the themeing was supposed to be just like maverick described, from what I've seen. They had a brochure that showed the steel framework of the ride covered to look like a mountain, with even an alpine hut about half way up. Too bad they never finished it, the themeing would have been cool.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
No way CP is going to finish the themeing now. It wouldn't be worth it considering the ride is getting up there in age. I think its hard to know if CP ever had any intention of going through with the themeing shown in the brochure.
Frankly, I don't think they ever had any intention of building the coal shaft element on Maverick for example... I think some of that is for show.
I think Snake River Falls is fine now. It would have been awesome with the themeing, but oh well.
