Skyhawk cam down!

Yea it could take a few minutes, but if they had to fix something it could have taken longer. Or they might have had to wait for the new cam to get in.

Yea they probly had to wait for a new webcam to get in!!!! Good thinking Grant

Actually...now that you are discussing it...

It DOES seem odd that suddenly the FunCoast cams will NOT show images of Cedar Point, when at the same time, the ThunderHawk cam is down.

I didn't even think of that when I originally posted....I was just annoyed that I couldn't get the FunCoast cams to work.

But I am sure if that if Cedar Point wished FunCoast to temporarily NOT show images of a certain area, they must abide.

And considering all the cams point to a freaking dock, I wonder if that is the case?

Some people need to take their free time and instead of creating conspiracy about webcams need to learn some simple typing grammar.

"Yea they probly had to wait for a new webcam to get in!"

What? If this was so, why would they take the cam down if the camera wasn't in yet? It would be pointless. Just like I said earlier, why would you take the cam down if your not ready to replace it yet?

btw, LIVE ENTERTAINMENT, I don't know what you're talking about. I can see images of Cedar Point fine. You do know you move the camera, yes?

Keith - There are numerous possibilities that could explain why the new web cam isn't up yet. For instance, perhaps they took it down expecting to put the new one up by the end of the week, only to have other things come up that took precedence. This type of thing happens all the time in the working world - especially during the busiest time of year!

As for the conspiracy, I just don't see it. The only thing shown on the SH cam was SH, and a little bit of SRF (and of course the skyline behind SH).

What in the name of all that is holy would they be "hiding" from us?

(Here's a hint: that's a trick question. Here's another hint: the answer starts with "N".)

Chew on this:

Tony and Tyler are not going to be installing the new camera, did you really think it was them? That task would fall to the Technical Services Department. And if I’m not mistaken, there are only two full time guys that work in tech services. So lets see, two guys to take care of all the speakers, cameras, tv monitors, microphones, walkie-talkies, amps, Live E equipment, security cameras, hand mics, etc., I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say their pretty damn busy this time of the year. They don’t casually check everything I mentioned over the course of the off season, most is checked right now till opening day. What good is it to check a speaker in November when it could go bad in February? You have to remember, tech services are installing new speakers and other audio/visual equipment at Sky Hawk and elsewhere in the park. Two guys for all of Cedar Point and Castaway Bay, their never going to get to the end of that to-do list!

They probably had every intention of getting the old cam or a new one installed real quick, but something else probably came up like dj said. That webcam is the last thing on there to-do list. And just because you plug it in, doesn’t mean its going to work 100% of the time, look at Dragster. So maybe the camera just didn’t work? I doubt they have a bunch just sittin around, they have to wait to fix it.

When I heard the cam was going to be down, I thought maybe Sky Hawk was going to be tested. But then I realized, big deal. So what if they test it and we can’t see it. It’s not like their hiding something, we KNOW it will be tested. So their not trying to hide something from us. Not like their going to drive some coaster track through that part of the park and didn’t want us to see it.

Sounds like my job now... :)

99er, thats what makes me wonder why they would bother with replacing it now anyway. There are more important things to get going for the park to be open. The cam could easily have waited until after opening day.

They probably didn't want the scaffolding on Town Hall's front porch on opening day. Or did they already take it off the scaffolding?

Well they would have to move it before opening day on account of the camera being attached to scaffolding in front or Town Hall. More then likely they had planned on it being a one day job. But anyone that has worked with audio/visual equipment knows that it doesn’t take much for something to go wrong. Tony and Tyler were just going on what tech services probably told them as far as a timeline. Nothing ever goes according to plan at Cedar Point, especially when you involve the weather and electronics.

From OnPoint!:

It takes more to get a webcam up and running than just plugging it in. Our telecommunications team, informations systems people and the two fo us all work together to get it connected. Unfortunately, it's taking a bit longer than expected. Stay tuned. It will be up soon. And no, Skyhawk has not begun its testing yet. We'll keep you posted!

Hmmm... Some of that sounds familiar. ;)
