I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it here yet, but I think adding the "Support our Troops" ribbons to all of the Sky Ride Cabins was a great touch.
Kudos to whomever came up with the idea.

I noticed them a few weeks ago, and thought that it was a nice touch.

Ugh. That's hideous. I go to an amusement park, in part, to escape for a while. Forget about bills, forget about work, forget about... oh, let's say... war.
There's a time and place for everything. I believe that an amusement park is neither when it comes to politics, religion, or war (unless themed so, of course). These ribbons cover at least two of the three (depending on your views, "politics" could make for a sweep).
In my adult years, I haven't been on Sky Ride much. I'll be even less inclined to ride now that those thing are on it.
I'm not even going to start on the possibility of the ribbons being offensive and alienating to the numerous foreign guests/employees.
Scooter1979, it's not like they're shoving it down your throat or anything. I think it's tasteful and appropriate.
Cedar Fair is not a government entity, and therefore can express their views on politics, religion, and war as the shareholders see fit.
I say Kudos to CP.

Way to go Cedar Point I like the little touch that they did. It must also mean Cedar Point is proud of the USA.
RIP MR.SCOTT The ONLY MAYOR OF LIGHTHOUSE
I think it's classy, and I don't see how it would offend foreign guests/employees. It certainly wouldn't bother me to go to an amusement park in another country and see ribbons supporting their troops on their version of Sky Ride, or anywhere else in the park.
Are you sure this isn't the Atlantic Ocean?
GO TIGERS!
It especially struck me as a good thing (tm) on Sunday. My cousin Zach, who has been in Iraq since January, was on leave and I got to see him Saturday night. I thought it was a very nice added touch. I'm sorry some of you don't.
I think it was a well invested $100 or so on magnetic ribbons. *** Edited 10/5/2005 5:22:25 AM UTC by bholcomb***
wow! I was there on sunday and did not notice that. What a great idea. And scooter, I see where you are coming from but just because you do not support the dumb reason why we are at war does not mean you should not support the troops.
Mikey
It's a nice touch.
Slightly Off-topic, yet still on...has anyone else noticed that all the ribbons they sell everywhere these days are made in China? Does anyone else see a problem with this?
-Josh
I never buy the ones from China, if on occassion I do find the American ones I try and buy all they have in the package.

I have nothing against supporting our troops with these ribbons, but I have to agree with scooter1979, that they seem to have gotten tied to a political catch, and they seem to be "overdone" Didn't think CP would jump on that bandwagon.
The Amazement Park
How do you figure that the "Support Our Troops" ribbons are a political catch. I think it's a great tribute for the men and women who keep us safe everyday. It doesn't show any political sides.
It's just not the right venue in my opinion. Bumper stickers and ribbon paraphernalia are meant for cars... not sky rides.
I agree with Jim on this one, I'm not anti-American but I do agree that there is a time and place for things like this and on the Sky ride is not one of them. CP shows there patroic sprit during the summer with the lazer light show and they do a great job of it too. However those ribbons are getting a little annoying to me. This is just my opinion.

The slogan is "Support Our Troops," not "Support The War." There is absolutely no reference to politics on those Sky Ride cabins. If they had bumper stickers that read "Bush/Cheney" or "Kerry/Edwards" or whoever else, you would have a valid arguement.
