As I understand it, it's just becoming a larger break area.

Which, to be honest... I still don't completely understand. The Demon Drop break area was plenty big enough as it was. The only thing it really needed was another shade cover. But, if they're doing something new for the employees... who am I to question it?

I've heard they're actually going to be serving burgers and stuff up at the break area. It should be great for the people up in the front of the park. I thought that another break location back somewhere by like Snake or Thunder Canyon would have been better because those poor people have a haul to the cafe and even the stockade is a haul! :)

Well if he's new he doesn't realize.

Ryan L. Check out the F.A.Q

If they serve up food in the new break location, that's cool. It'll be nice for the employees in that area to have another food option. The Cafe really isn't that far and the D.D break area was plenty big enough, but what ever floats their boat.

Did Hot Diggity have cheese on a stick?

I believe it did.

What's this Loose Article rule everyone is talking about? Was it in effect last season? If not what is it exactly?

Like do they plan to make it so you cant even take your hat on a ride anymore and put it down your shirt to keep it in place?

Ryan L. that first week after the park opens is basically empty. You can walk on anything in the park.

I'm sure that the rule will make it extremely frustrating for guests and employees alike. I know when Magnum switched over mid-season to a no loose article policy that people were furious. I suspect that the loose article policy on most rides will be similar to MF. Only things that can be put in cargo pockets will be allowed on the ride, and hats will have to go down shirts.

I have a feeling that ride numbers will be down on some of the older rides since people are just used to taking their backpacks and stuff with them. It would be beneficial for the park to implement another storage bin area located in the middle of the park because people don't want to make the long trek to the front of the park everytime they need something...and they certainly don't want to have to spend more money everytime they have to get something from one of the little lockers.

"Cedar Point enters its 135th season with a dynamic new thrill ride, a celebration of a landmark hotel and other improvements."

Isn't it the 136th season?

I think initially, that policy is going to piss people off. They're going to see it as CP trying to make more money, rather than it being for safety. I don't think it's going to affect ride numbers really because it is going to apply across the board to pretty much everything (with very few exceptions from what I've been told - like the train and Sky Ride). So if you want to ride rides, you're going to need to put your stuff in the car or in a locker and then you can go on with your day. I personally don't carry anything around that won't fit in my pocket, but you sure do see a heck of a lot of people carrying a lot of junk around. I hope they implement some signs at the gate informing people of this so that the employees at various rides don't get slammed - especially smaller rides where people have always been able to bring things on.

Having said all that, I've also heard that CP has not installed any additional lockers. I know for a fact that once they switched the policy last year, the lockers back by Magnum all filled up on a couple of occasions. They really ought to think about adding some more in various locations throughout the park. And preferably those automatic ones that will let the people put their stuff in for free for the first hour or whatever. If they want to leave it in there all day, then they'll have to pay for that convenience. CP still makes money and people don't see it as greed and are not so unhappy about the policy change.

Does anyone know the company that makes those automatic lockers? I tried googling and didn't come up with anything.

The E-Mail I got from CP Funtimes said it was the 136th season.

"When Cedar Point, the Best Amusement Park In The World, opens for its 136th season on May 7th, we're going to celebrate Opening Day by lighting up the night with fireworks!"

*shrugs* guess they're wrong.

Though I suppose if 1870 was season #1 and 1880 was season #11 ... 136th season, 135th anniversary? I don't know. I've worked back to back 12 hour days. Someone else think for me. :)

On the loose article policy, why don't they just put bins in the stations like they have at Raptor or Mantis?

Because they don't make any money off of those. Plus, there's also the risk of people swiping other people's stuff--this has happened to me before, and trust me, it's not fun.

I agree though, I was at Universal Studios and IoA last summer, and the locker systems they had there were great. They did it based on fingerprints, so you didn't even have to have a key. The only downside was (and correct me if I'm wrong) that I think you needed a credit card, so that might not please people who don't have the plastic.

Are you sure this isn't the Atlantic Ocean?

You do not need a credit card to use the lockers at Islands of Adventure.
