Like many I am not a fan of heights, but I wouldn't say afraid.
I still ride everything and I think it probably adds to the experience anyways.
Sky ride is definitely the worse ride for me, but that's less about height and more about that little cable holding all that weight and that rolling over the tower sections.
Power Tower drop like many is a scary one.
But I still feel nervous sitting on the left seat side of Magnum. Always winding going up that hill, no structure below you when you looked to the side, and it takes forever to get up the hill.

People think I'm crazy when I tell them I'm afraid of heights because they know that I'm a coaster enthusiast. I love the tallest and faster coaster types but I too have a problem with being up high just sitting there like a few that wrote on here.
I share the same thing. I lveo rides like Top Thrill, Millennium, and Magnum but am very nervous when I get near the top of a six-foot ladder. I think it's the unsupported feeling. I also have problems with Ferris wheels that don't have any restraints and Power Tower is by far the most terrifying ride I've ever been on. That is of course if I'm on the green side facing one of the other towers. If I'm facing out I'm find. *** Edited 4/16/2007 12:24:33 AM UTC by mulfinator*** *** Edited 4/16/2007 12:25:09 AM UTC by mulfinator***
I remember the same day I went on my first coaster I was dead scared about going on Gemini lol. After that ride though I wanted to go back on it two more times.
Favorite Coasters 1.MF 2. TTD 3. Raptor 4. Gemini 5. Magnum
Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.
When I was young, I was sort of scared of heights. But over the years I've lost my fear, the only thing that can scare me would be the Ferris Wheel. Some times just as its at the top on a windy day.

I have always been a coaster nut and used to be afraid of heights, but oddly enough, CP got me over that fear. The first few times I rode Power Tower, I was scared out of my mind at the top. All I could do was grip the bars and stare straight ahead. Now, it doesn't bother me in the least. I'll actually look around and enjoy the view. Sometimes, I actually forget that it's gonna drop me.
I was kind'a like that to on big drop rides, now I'm used to them they don't bother me. I do like it when your up at the top and you look down, the sight is just like wow. I had some what of a fear, up until 2001 after riding the Force. I lost all my fear, its a piece of cake now.

I have a pretty decent fear of hieghts, had it since i was little. I got scared to hell on Jr. Gemini at 3. Then after riding Wolverine Wildcat at MIAdv I wouldn't go near a coaster, I was actually so scared of them and being anywhere above ground level that when I was 10 I got on Iron Dragon and then changed my mind and started crying until they let me off. Then eventually I got back to MIAdv (before ST) and conquered the ride that scared me and I started losening up. Went to CP in 2000, only ride I got myself on was Raptor. I wanted to ride MF but couldn't get the guts, that fear is what actually turned me into an enthusiast. In 02 I got over my fear and rode MF, Magnum, PT, etc. Then I eventaully got to ride TTD in 05. The more I ride the more I overcome my fear, it took me 7 years to do it (96 (I remember Mantis just opening) till 2002). Now I will ride anything, but what I choose to ride is different. I won't ride PT unless I am forced to, and if I had a choice between the Space Spiral and PT I would choose.............PT. I don't like going up that high without a restraint I get real nervous, it's sad I will ride TTD as many times as I can and I look around on MF and Magnum lift hills but I won't step foot near the Space Spiral. I have came a long way from 10 to 21 but I still have a decent fear of hieghts and to me thats what makes coaster riding so much fun.
P.S. My bad if I mis-typed anything I have a Cast on my right hand and it makes it hard to type.

I can understand why you won't step foot near Space Needle, I mean it's all the way in Seattle. ;)
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I am afraid of heights, but what ruined the thrill of rollercoasters, on the scared of heights portion, was flying to Florida.
Nothing is a scary as flying, I must be partly clostrophobic, and the concept of not being attached to heavy duty steel rails scare me, nothing is holding the plane in place. :)
Since then, I only get the butterfly stomach feeling over the air time hills.
Height is not much of problem anymore, I still like the dropping of the first hills, but I am not scared of them.
After getting used to Magnum, I was going up Millenium's hill, and at about the 250 ft mark, I said to my son, OK, better hold on now, we are up pretty high. Now its relax the whole way up.
Oh yea, and I'm looking forward to getting stuck on the top of TTD, will I ever get so lucky?
GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.
If by stuck you mean this.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2evYFDsCgVQ..... Good luck. You will need it, this will never again :(
I just had to post the video ;)

Yeah, that's what I mean by stuck.
And I like that video, seen it many times.
And why won't it ever happen again. It's happened before. So it can happen again.
But I won't stand out in a lightning storm, I probably have a better chance of getting hit by lightning. :)

^Lightning will hit the lightning rod before it hits you.:)
^^Never say never! Just because Dragster's performing better than it did in 04 doesn’t mean that it can’t get the same amount of momentum with the right amount weight to get a train stuck at the peak.

I love Mf and TTD and hope that CP will go higher and faster in my life time (I'm sure they will), but I hope it's not a Farris Wheel type...lol (I'd hate to be sitting 600 feet up in a rocking chair waiting for them to load.)
Now that it's brought up, and I think about it, the Ferris Wheel freaks me out, too. No lap belts or bars, just-- "Here, hold onto the baby dear, while I lean over the edge and take a picture!"
I hate taking the kids on them, because of the lack of restraints.
Looking forward to Cedar Point- July 4th-5th, 2007!
It's been so many years since I've been on it, I can't recall! I think I went on it in 2001 when we went, but maybe not. Actually, probably not. I don't think I've gone on it at all in it's newer location.

We went on it last October and froze. I'm not a huge fan of Ferris Wheels to begin with.
Goodbye MrScott
John
sitting at the top of the power tower, waiting for the drop, is the only thing in the park that puts a real sense of fear into me. i normally ride the other side but last summer we ended up in the drop line... i don't know if ill be brave enough to try it again...
I've never done PT, but my husband has. He says pretty much the same thing- that he'd do the upshoot before the down fall again, cause it freaked him right out. He's not really scared of heights, either, but he really wasn't fond of that. I, thankfully, stood on the ground and took pictures. ;)
Looking forward to Cedar Point- July 4th-5th, 2007!
I always ride the right side seat on Magnum also. The long slow trip up the lift hill drives me nuts. Every time I ride Magnum I like it even more. The quick trip up MF's lift hill is a lot less scary to me. MF's height does not bother me as much as the slow trip up on Magnum. It would be cool if Magnum had the elevator lift like MF.
