Saw CP from Airplane

Last night I was on my way to Detroit Metro from Orlando and I flew over Cedar Point. I saw the unique shape and it was very bright on the Island. does anyone know why the islands would be lit up. That made my trip. It was so beautiful.

Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.

CP is on a pennisula, not an island. I thought the park coasters get lit up during the holiday season.

The did light it up for 2002-2003 offseason I believe, but they didn't do since.

That would be awesome.

You know, CP is actually on an island, but since everyone here has it in there heads that it is on a peninsula, no one will agree with me. The causeway is man made, so you can't count that as a natural connection to the mainland. And if you go look at a satellite picture, you will be able to see that the strip of land that Cedar Point Rd. is on actually doesn't come in contact with the main land, at least above water. So technically, it is an island, if you take away the man-made causeway.

As you can tell, the road connects to the main land via a man made strip.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

So? What does that prove? It proves that the means by which it was connected no longer exists. It is now accessed by man-made roads only. Can you successfuly argue that it isn't? The picture I showed you is the proof, and it is valid.

It is not, and never has been, an island.

Really? The definition of an island is this:a tract of land surrounded by water and smaller than a continent. CP is a tract of land surrounded by water. The satellite picture clearly shows that. The causeway is a bridge, you can't argue that it isnt. There for the "peninsula" is surrounded by water, making it an island. Like I said in my first post, I'm sure most of you won't be able to take this because you all have it ingrained in your minds that it is an island. Give me an irrefutable photo like I gave you, and I will believe you.

BlueStreak64 and MrScott, you are both right in a sense.

Cedar Point is Currently a Peninsula. The Island is now no longer surrounded by water on ALL sides; so it's labeled a peninsula.

Cedar Point WAS an island, before any man made structure or land mass was put in to connect the mainland and the island. The island was covered on all sides, all times before 1913.

So, Cedar Point is infact a Peninsula.

Before 1913, Cedar Point was reachable by Ferry.

I'm pretty sure this fits in here somewhere. My sister came home from school one day (grade 7) talking about an isthmus, which www.dictionary.com defines as:

a relatively narrow strip of land (with water on both sides) connecting two larger land areas.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

The Cedar Point Peninsula doesn't connect two larger land areas. The two "causeways" connect Cedar Point to one land area.

Only on Pointbuzz could someone take a question about why CP is lit up and how beautiful seeing it from the air was and turn it into an argument about whether or not the place is an island.

Good grief, people.

BlueStreak64, why do you want to argue it so bad. I'm a huge CP fan and I don't even care what it is.

Back on topic:

A view of Cedar Point lit up form an airplane would be awesome. Especially seeing MF's lift changing color.

P.S. CP is on an island. There is no natural (as in non man-made) conection to the main land.

I will now return to my duties as a garbage man.

CP is NOT on an island! Kelly Island is an island, CP is on a peninsula.

There is nothing to argue about.

First of all, you people are a bunch of losers for arguing about this.
