Saturday, October 11th

Anyone here work that date? What was it like from your perspective? I have never seen the park that busy and have heard many ride ops were there until the wee hours of the morning.

Another question: Which is better from your perspective, busy or dead?

I had a great time.. it was a great chance for the employee's to step up and show everyone what they are made of.

Every department went that extra 10 feet Saturday and while the lines were long, I don't think that the customer service suffered.

Try packing that many people in the park down the road and see what happens. ;)

Ok, my experience on 11 October 2003...well it ended up being an 18 hour day with 15 minute diner break (while working) around 10pm. That was my experience but I loved every minute of it. Busy is much better.
We got to the park early (as resort guests) and enjoyed a ride on TTD. Once we got off that, it was ESCAPE! Man, it got bad! Went back Sunday to ride.

Those that had to work that crowd did a great job! The park got HAMMERED on Saturday and I felt for you guys more than I felt for us.

Great Job!

Ditto MrScott. One ride on TTD, back to the hotel, came back Sunday. Sunday more than made up for Saturday. Got a lot of rides in.
I didn't work on Saturday, but I do know what it had to have been like. Cedar Point Dr. and the Causway was still backed up when I went home to Michigan at like 3pm... Friday wasn't busy by any means, but it was the busiest Friday since HalloWeekends and it was a preview for Saturday. I feel sorry for the workers because I know a lot of departments are under staffed right now... I know mine is..
I didn't take my final 45 until 10:00 PM. I say that the park handled the high numbers the best way possible. Everyone on every level stepped it up a little. Our supervisor even worked load side so we could send 2 people on break instead of one. It was an interesting day.

Saturday was the busiest day ever, but it went by really quick. I was just surprised by how nice the guests were. I really only encountered one *****y guests, and i just told her to give me her glasses or she wasn't riding. after her everything was smooth sailing. The worst part was the damn traffic leaving the park.
I, too, thought about all the employees dealing with the masses, especially in food services. I don't think I saw less than 15-20 people waiting at the various food places from 1 pm on.

One employee we talked to on Sunday worked at Coasters and said they were filled all day long. It was an exhausting day.

Again, though, as Red Garter Rob said, the employees were definitely up to the challenge and did a great job.

I would like to find out who the monster was in Fright Zone who jumped out at me only to have me tell him I loved him and wanted to get married. He came back and hugged me. First time I've ever been hugged by a monster!

I don't think she was complaining about the traffic crew, but rather the traffic itself.

I worked Sky Ride most of the day, then got yanked over to Dragster Sat night. Despite a good chunk of downtime, guests were fairly happy and didn't complain that they only got to ride 3 rides all day.

Dang, I would of been glad to of been there on Sat the 11th. It sounds like you guys got very busy. I was in VA Beach all day that day working at a USSBA marching band event, so I was busy all day too, and the rain didn't help a bit with the ocean winds from the Atlantic.

I worked raptor all season, and october 11th was definately a crazy day, at close are line had full ques, the day in general wasn't bad, our crew had fun, we talked to a lot of guests that were very nice even though they couldn't get on that many rides, it was a pretty good day, I do prefer busy days more than quiet days

I'm all about the park being pretty busy, but not crowded. One Saturday in July I was working and it was the worst I'd seen it all season. Of course I missed last Saturday as I've been gone since August.

But I liked working on days that were pretty busy. It gave me something to do. On days that were dead I was bored. People weren't dropping trash and there weren't too many people to help out or chat with.

But crowded days can get annoying. It's hard enough trying to move the broom and dust pan out of the way when people are shoulder-to-shoulder and you're trying to pick up some trash at their feet. It also gets a bit annoying since there's trash everywhere and it's hard to pick it up. It's all good, though! Part of the job!

Just so everyone knows I meant waiting to get out, not the workers in traffic. I think they did a great job. so sorry if i offended you johndubya.
I didn't work on sat, but i was in the park. A few sups and such tried to get me and my friend to work, but that wasn't going to happen. Saturday was definitly the busiest i've seen the park all year. I was really glad i wasn't working, I would have lost my mind working with ride-prides...busy days are alright, but i like the normal, everyday crowd. You can joke around with them, and be a little more relaxed, and not be running around all day.

It is definitely easier to do a seat with a person in it as opposed to an empty seat where you have to pull down the harness and do the seat belt. But at entrance and crowd dead is definitely better. Guests seem to test your nerves the most at those 2 positions.
Saturday was INSANE and kudos goes out to every single employee that worked that day!!! :)

Hey Jo, remember me saying "Hi" to you? It was on Sunday around 1pm. Bearded guy in the tie die shirt...

God, I hope it was you I said hi to...lol!

You are correct, row 5 seat 1, I think ;) Well, the seat 1 is correct, for sure. You looked like you were having a blast! I know I was! Nice to meet you, as well.

See ya next year!
