Sadly Dissapointed

If you dont think this is the primary attraction for MOST people to go to CP this year you are very naive.

No, I'm not naive. Dragster may be the primary draw for some, but for most, Cedar Point is a yearly destination. Yes, Cedar Point will likely see an attendance boost because of the new ride ... but Top Thrill Dragster or no Top Thrill Dragster, the park would still draw 3,000,000+.

HE WASN'T GOING TO THE PARK FOR ONE RIDE!! HE WAS IN LINE FOR THE RIDE AND IT BROKE DOWN CAUSING DELAYS, AND THEN HE HAD TO REPORT BACK TO HIS GROUP AFTER WAITING SOMETIME IN LINE!!!! READ THE POST AGAIN!

Read the entire thread again and other threads. I'am not responding to the original poster, but those of you that feel you need to belittle someone for being very disappointed or upset about the situation. The one ride thing is almost ALWAYS one of the arguments defending the shut downs and problems. Like, you should have known it would not be running argument.

Again, my point is that alot of you criticize those that are upset by thing not running and rationalize it. Most of those that do that are the people that are able to go multiple times in a year. I dont think you understand that MOST people dont do that and will be extremely disappointed if it is not running. Some of you understand that, some of you take the oppurtunity to call those that are upset or disappointed idiots for thinking it would be running. That is what is ridiculous. Its easy to say its not big deal when you have either been on it OR know you will go multiple times this year and will get to ride eventually.

No no don't stop talking about these problems. I went to the park for six days and I was able to ride it five times, which I didn't think was a lot considering it was practically the only ride I went on. This was on late may I believe, and I'm curious as to when they'll have it fixed. So keep me informed. Continue to argue :)

When were you there? I was there until 3:00 or so, and despite a few significant breakdowns it was up at least until 2:30, when it broke down again. But I know it was open for at least several hours, because I rode it.

Accually it was open earlier in the day. I got there about 12 and around 2 we got in line because it was closed. We waited for about and hour and it was shut down and they told us it would be down for a lengthy delay and it didn't open the rest of the day.

Whats life if you never get to the point?

Okay, kiddies...here's the deal. Life IS full of disappointments. The older you get, the more you learn to accept them and move on. Even those who only get to the park once a year, or every couple of years...TTD will be there next year..and the year after, and the year after. As disappointing as some of your experiences are, they are not a matter of life or death. They are just disappointments.

I could name several coasters at several parks who had problems the first year (X, Xcelerator, Wicked Twister, X-Flight, DejaVu). Imagine the hundreds of people at Coastercon last year who came from all over the US to ride X and Xcelerator last year only to find they were down.

I agree it sucks to be SO CLOSE and then miss a chance. But those of you who are really ragging about it need to grow up and realize what is REALLY important in life. It's more than getting that "first ride" on a coaster.

Hmm, you mean like posting on an amusement park board? Is that life and death? LOL

How ironic to be scolded for a discussion on disappointment that a ride is not running from a person that posts all the time on amusement park board LOL. WHEN, did anyone say this was life and death??? Again, I refer back to my prior post that said I was ready for the same rationalizations, I forgot to mention the tired analogies as well.

I would agree to the grow up part. In regards to those of you who feel you need to belittle people for being upset about it not running. They have a right to be upset. Like I said before 95% of you that are rationalizing all of this and giving those that are upset about it a tough time are those that are locals or go multiple times.

does this topic have to show up every 36 hours? holy crap! think of it this way: do NOT go to Cedar Point expecting to ride Top Thrill Dragster, as if it does happen to break down, you will be dissapointed and post something on this site that will get you flamed. it seems that TheOne001 is still the same person even though it took him 3 times to get on the ride! and then there's some of you who join AFTER not being able to ride Top Thrill Dragster, only to say things like you were "dissapointed", "angry" etcetra... life WILL go one if you dont get to ride it this year! it will, God willing, stay at Cedar Point for quite sometime (unless it goes the way of VertiGo, at which point you're screwed). please just get over it.

You know how to alleviate that problem?? Dont read the thread. Better yet, dont respond to it. Your problem is solved. Some people like to vent about stuff that bothers them. You dont have to read it if you dont want to.

M. Force did not have anywhere near these kind of problems its first year for those of you that point to that. Yes, it would breakdown, but typically would be back up within an hour and would run most of the day.

First of all, what is the point of your long-winded, and over worded post?

Second, there is a MAJOR difference between MF and TTD. Comparing the two is matching apples and oranges.

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

maybe Jeff should open up a new board JUST for people to complain on. seriously, this "I didn't get a ride on Dragster, so maybe the people on this forum will fell pity for me" thing happens every 2 or so days! it's a plague!

How ironic you are always scolding the scoldeders, LOL. And you claim he is the one always posting on an amusement park board? Look in the mirror.....

Anybody know why TTD is down now?

With all of people's sad stories about the ride breaking down when they ride, I'm starting to realize that I'm a lucky son of a gun. Of the five times I've gone to the park this year, I've never been deprived of a TTD ride. How about I tell all of you guys when I'm going, then you're guarenteed to get a ride!

CP 2K3: 5

Ya know, when I was in the 8th grade, things like riding the new coasters when they opened was like, the whole world to me. But then I grew up. I'm graduating from high school on Saturday, have a job, a car, and friends. These friends and I go to CP a lot, because we have season passes. Opening day we ran to TTD and rode it. Ever since then, our top priority hasn't been TTD. At all. The truth is, I have more fun riding the other rides, Wicked Twister, and especially Magnum. My life doesn't end if TTD is down, I shrug it off. Who cares? It's a rollercoaster, and it isn't going anywhere. Yes, it has seen more downtime than most other rides in the park during their opening year. So what? You say you didn't get a raincheck. Perhaps you missed the 5,000 reminders throughout the park stating: Sorry, no rainchecks or refunds. You say you didn't get a front of line pass. How many people this year have been in that same situation, and didn't get one? What makes you so special? What makes you think you should be treated like royalty? I'll tell you. The 8th grade. You have a long way to go before realizing just how stupid and silly your complaining is. You may not think it, but believe me, it will hit you.

my 2 cents.

"What time does the 10 pm laser show start?"

Not to sound cliche, but it could be worse. I went to Magic Mountain a few weeks ago, and X was closed. The next week I find out they've been closing it on certain days of the week due to lack of staffing. The real kicker is after the park closed, they opened it for a radio event happening that night. I got to see them start testing it right as I was leaving. I have no idea when I'll be in California again, since I live in Florida.

But like neo said, it's only a ride. I'll get over it. Good post by the way, neo.

We will see how dissapointed you are when you finally get to ride :) I was the 6th car in line for the front when the cable snapped. I had waited 3 hrs by the time I finally got back out of the queue. Now, granted that I had already ridden once, I was not dissapointed at all, it will just make my first front seat ride that much more interesting :) Just live with it man.

Mantis man, Please tell me when you are going again. I have been to the park 4 times for a total of about 25 hours. It has been down 22 of those hours. I am still looking for my first ride. A week ago Wednesday I was there at 9am and left at 6:45 and the ride I found out later opened at around 7:20. Yesterday, I was watching the web cam and saw it was running and decided to make the 80 minute trip. I arrived at 3pm and it was down. I waited in line until 6:30 and it never opened back up. I need some of your luck. I know I'll get my chance hopefully sooner than later. Until I get that first ride in it is driving me crazy.

Hey, I was on the platform whenever that happened!! I was in the way back and me and my friends just left. I probably saw you.
