Sadly Dissapointed

I went to Cedar point today with my class, and me and my buddy went through a very disapointing experience. After hitting Raptor and Mille we quickly ran to TTD. The line said 1 Hour. After waiting for a good hour and a half we finaly got up to the train( after a number of breakdowns). We sit in the train, buckle up our belts, push down our lap bars, and we're ready to go. The rides Ops check us and everythign is fine. After sitting in the train for about 5 minutes we realize that it's taking a very long time, we figure it must be a small break down. After 10 minutes we hear on the PA system the following," At the moment Top Thrill Dragster is closed down, we do not know how long it will take to open, you may leave or stay if you would like." So we get out of the car at stand in the front of the line. . . . After a hour and 15 minutes of standing there, we left( we had to check in with the advisors of our group promptly at 1:00 PM. We never got to ride, it was closed the rest of the day. We are extremely dissapointed in Dragsters Performance. It is very unreliable. . . .

It sucked

Awww, poor baby. You knew there was a chance that it might break down, and you knew that it's been more prone to problems since it's brand new with relatively unproven ride technology. You got your hopes up too high and came crashing down.

What would suck more: A long rainstorm to shut down TTD (along with most of the other rides) or a mechanical breakdown which would allow you to ride all of the other rides that are open?

Hey, he's just pointing out that he was sadly disappointed in his experience. In no way, shape, or form did he ask for pitty.

Of course that would suck, but sometimes "crap" happens. It's too bad they don't issue a stamp or warning that the ride will likely be shut down or the wait will be long. All in all, hopefully these bugs can be fixed quickly...I know they are working hard.

Thanks, Seth, for your very much needed and very revelation-like smart alec like post, moving on to the intelligent posts in this topic: You really cannot blame the park for this, as has been and will continue to be stated, TTD has a long list of kinks that need to be worked out, up until July, you should not go to the park expecting to ride TTD, at all. That's all there is to it, you could have ridden 67 other rides, and had plenty of time to decide to do exactly that, so what really sucked was the decision you made based on luck...

I'd be pissed too if that happened. Sorry, just luck of the draw I'm afraid.

Do you go to St. Joe's and in the 8th grade?
I was up there today and was disappointed it was closed. I really wasn't mad that it was closed for me. I go up about every week, but my friends who went up with me don't get to go up. This was their one time up this year and I was disappointed that they didn't get to ride it. I hope they fix this problem they keep having fast.

Whats life if you never get to the point?

I would be disappointed too, but what can you do? I am going for a couple days in July, hopefully the bugs will be worked out by then.
I would be upset too, i was a little irritated when they got us ready to launch and took us back into the stationand took the yellow train of the circuit but i wasn't too irritated when i got my ride, i feel for ya man but it took me 3 tries before i got on, but that was due to a girl friend who wouldn't ride but will now! :-D

You guys, if the ride would have been closed down from the beining and i didnt get to ride it i wouldnt care. It's that i waited about 3 hours for it and then when i thought i was home free it broke down. They didnt even give me a raincheck or a fast pass. It made me realize how difficult it actually is to get a ride on this thing. And plus im the guy that posted all those ( how not to be deathly afraid of Dragster) posts. So i thought i had acomplished my fear because i was buckled down and the support was down.

. . .It was cranbrook 8th grade. . .

When were you there? I was there until 3:00 or so, and despite a few significant breakdowns it was up at least until 2:30, when it broke down again. But I know it was open for at least several hours, because I rode it.

And it's not just one problem. Breakdowns have been occurring for several reasons, by the looks of it. At least, whatever the problem(s) is/are, they manifest in different ways.

Well the wait was about 3 hours and it was only open about three hours, so only a few people got to ride. There was something wrong with like one brake panel thing it wouldnt come up or something. A couple big wigs from intamin came down though to check it out which was kinda cool.

That brake was what they were having trouble with on Tuesday during the 40 minute breakdown while I was in line I do believe. It continued to come up while they were trying to advance the trains. Was it one of the first few that drop after the brake run and before the unloading platform?
I know how he feels. Slightly different, but I was in line for Superman at SFDL and waited for the front car and we were next in line when they said they had to close it for high winds.

You just gotta take what life deals you and play on.

If life is full of ups and down, you better make sure your safety restraint is locked and ENJOY the ride.

Yeah but, still i've wasted like half my life lookin at that Dam* coaster online and stuff. And i missed my chance to ride it. I hope they fix the bugs by July when i go back again.

Must this topic of TTD being down come up on here everyday. Yes, the park is having trouble with the ride and people should know that by now. Especially if you read this web site. It really gets upsetting to here about this day in and day out. As stated before, you should not go to the park based on riding one ride.

Launch that sucker...Yeah!

Again, I notice alot of you that do the defending of the shut down and CP and cutting on those that are upset by it are those that obviously are able to get to CP multiple times in a year. It is easy for you to dismiss the disappointment others feel and rationalize it. You can go mulitple times and know eventually you will get to ride it OR already have been on it.

The going for one ride thing doesnt wash with me either. If this is the case CP needs to stop advertising the crap out of a ride that barely operates. If you dont think this is the primary attraction for MOST people to go to CP this year you are very naive. If that were the case the commercials would be completely generic and not even mention Dragster. It is the primary reason I'am going to CP this year. If Dragster was not there I would probebly go to Great America in Chicago instead for something different this year. But I want to ride Dragster so that is why I'am going back to CP.

This ride obviously has some major problems. There has been about one day this season where it operated most of the day. It seems most days it is down most of the time. Indeed again today it has been down the entire time and according to information they have no clue when it will run again. M. Force did not have anywhere near these kind of problems its first year for those of you that point to that. Yes, it would breakdown, but typically would be back up within an hour and would run most of the day. The only day I recall it was shut down all day was the roll back that occurred because of high winds. Other than that it was small problems with the wheels. Dragster seems to have multiple problems, every single day for very long periods. I'am starting to think CP should have tested one more rocket coaster out at a smaller level at a different park before going so big to avoid this kind of situation. CP is the best, but this situation seems very Six Flags like to me. I think they will get the thing operating eventually. But I dont think it will be until late in the year or next year. I REALLY hope they prove me wrong. But alot of you were saying that after Memorial Day, things would be better. Well, they are almost worse really

OK, those of you that defend CP like it is your mother rip on me! LOL I cant wait to hear the same tired rationalizations over and over about it. Fire away!

HE WASN'T GOING TO THE PARK FOR ONE RIDE!! HE WAS IN LINE FOR THE RIDE AND IT BROKE DOWN CAUSING DELAYS, AND THEN HE HAD TO REPORT BACK TO HIS GROUP AFTER WAITING SOMETIME IN LINE!!!! READ THE POST AGAIN!
