That was what, in the 70s? There is talk of shutting down the American falls agin in a couple years to do erosion work again.

ROUNDABOUND.

I've seen pictures of that. I would pay good money to walk across the rock bed before the cliff if it was offered.

Not to close though, heights aren't for me unless there is some track involved ;) If anyone out there hasn't been, go early spring or fall and get on the Maid of the Mist, it should be a walk on. Something you will never forget!

I'd make a trip just to see it with the water off...

Noggin you are really old. It was 1969 that the water was shut off to the American Falls. Are you sure you don't need a wheel chair?

I'm old too. I remember going with my parents to see the dry falls. I was surprised that the river bed was not very deep. Maybe four feet.

Ha! When I was young and they had just invented the wheel...

No wheel chair needed. The walker is enough 😀

Anyone seen the pictures of the time the falls froze completely solid? That would be something to see.

As for enthusiasts in general, one of the main reasons we don't attend ERT nights is because the running, pushy coaster nuts who think they have priorities. I feel bad for any "regular" pass holder who also attends, for them to get shoved aside just so some nut can get his/her 1,000th ride on (insert ride name here) and brag about it forever.

You can find any number of these enthusiasts over on the drone morality or RMC mean streak threads, they will happily lecture you on your poor ethical and moral choices on [insert subject] in the most hypocritical manner possible.

And some enthusiasts just can't seem to let things go. Like the opposing argument or viewpoint of other enthusiasts. They feel the need to bring it up for no apparent reason on other threads. My guess is it's to make themselves feel better. ¯\_(ツ)_/ ¯

A) That's not exclusive to coaster enthusiasts, that's for sure. Let me direct you to the MiceChat forums, for one. :-p

B) Agreed, it's likely self ego massage.

C) Have I brought up how MiA is not the ignored stepchild of Cedar Fair? :-)

Most of the enthusiasts I know are not like that. I don't know who you know but I gave never seen people act that way here. I should know because I come pretty much every week.

The mean streak was never very crowded so there was never any reason to not give Henry a reride. Henry is a very nice man and really sweet. There's no reason for rude comments about this very nice man. We all had the honor of riding with Henry on one of his milestone rides.

So what? If someone wants to break their own ride record who cares? Some people like doing that. I don't see anyone pushing and shoving other people around. If a ride attendant calls for a single rider, a person is allowed to occupy the extra sest.

Your right, you've never seen it, so it doesn't happen...

Then again, i've never seen hasher, so that must mean he doesn't exist, nor do his posts :P

It's a shame that our group (coaster enthusiasts), have those "bad apples". Throughout my travels, I've attended many events. For the most part, everyone is great.

During the years when I was visiting CP 30-40 times a year, I never felt I was entitled anything. I just enjoyed being there riding Magnum all the time. It is fun getting to know employees and other guests. I got the occasional re-ride, but never asked. It sometimes surprised me when they would tell me to stay on. I would never brag about it or mention who was working. Like Matt said, I don't want to get anyone in trouble. Same with trimless rides. Ride-ops can get in big trouble for doing it. Sure, I might have asked for it sometimes. But didn't complain if I didn't get one.

As for counting, some of my friends do it as a personal thing. I know I did when Magnum first opened. But after about 800 rides, I quit. I felt it took the fun out of it. I still do daily counts on rides just to see what I can handle. Voyage has been the toughest to marathon!

Daily counts is about the most "enthusiastic" thing I do. With that in mind, I don't expect to ever do better than my best of 21 rides on The Beast in one visit. I just don't care as much anymore.

At 46, I still enjoy seeing what I can handle. I don't do it as much now, as I am usually with someone. Last time was couple of years ago at Holiday World. I can't get enough of Voyage. Wife can't handle more than couple of rides, so she hung out with another friend as I stayed on Voyage all day to try to hit a goal.

Funny thing is when I was a kid, I thought I was hot s*** when I rode Double Loop at Geauga Lake 10 times in one day. Now I just laugh at that!

Power-riding at CP has pros and cons. It sucks to walk around. But at the same time it is good exercise. Especially those stairs! You really feel it for days afterwards!

Most of us are there for fun. It sucks that some of the regulars are so rude with other guests and the employees. They should know better. From experience, Ralph, Henry and Dave are good people. I've ridden with Ralph many times, as he loves Magnum as much as I do. They (along with others) don't ask for the extra attention. Sure, they might get it. But that just happens when you visit that often and are seen at one ride most of time. But some of these people want it and get bent out of shape if they aren't recognized. I once heard a person say, "I've been on that ride just as much. But I don't get the attention or tv time he does." I have to bite my tongue as I just want to say "But you're an a$$!"

Haha it was so much easier at GL because you didn't even have to get out of your seat.

I miss GL :(
