The name will be ThundR. or some unpronounceable / always underlined by spell check word ;)

You know, Devarious, I always wondered if there was a way companies could get trademarks filed without having them visible to the public. I always assumed there was.

Hangtime and The Ledge were both filed in May; these names made me wonder if another dive coaster was going to get installed somewhere in the chain, as both would be decent names for such a ride.

I honestly don't know if we've ever been able to see the name of a new coaster before an announcement through a TESS search. Was Valravn, Rougarou, or Gatekeeper visible before their respective reveals?

Promoter of fog.

Could it be Whyte Lightning might be making a comeback from when Shoot the Rapids was being built? Or has that been debunked? I can't remember.

I'm sure there's a way to use a shell company to register trademarks.

I would like the name "Whyte Lightning", but I know some had mentioned about a "White Lightning" at Fun Spot in Orlando. Not sure if there's concern about name overlap, even though the spelling is slightly different.

Not in on the "Whyte Lightning" name at all, but I'm curious...is there a significance for spelling it with a "y" instead of "i?" Or is it just because people think it looks cool?

I found a Facebook post of mine from April 25th, 2015 regarding Cedar Point's Valravn trademark.

According to details on Justia...

  • GateKeeper was filed on August 13, 2012, the same day it was announced (recall, however, that the ride had been leaked on CP's website just a few days before).
  • Rougarou was filed on June 23, 2014, about three months before the announcement.
  • Valravn was filed on April 17, 2015, about four months before the planned announcement (before it was postponed to September due to the fatal Raptor incident).

I distinctly remember both "Rougarou" and "Valravn" being thrown around on this very forum well before the rides themselves were revealed. I think the trademarks for Gold Striker, Banshee, and Fury 325 were also similarly known beforehand.

I've also heard the name Mystic Timbers be thrown around about 2 days before Kings Island's announcement of their ride, even though the trademark wasn't filed until after the announcement, so there are obviously other ways a name can be leaked.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

Whyte Lightning would be more appropriate for Carowinds. Perhaps a tie up with Junior Johnson.

The reason I bring up Whyte Lightning was that it was used as the title for the "newsletter" that was sent out to media folks before the announcement of Shoot the Rapids.

If you'll recall in the video "The Axe" posted for the shut down of Mean Streak back in August, they used Tony Clark in a costume similar to the old guy in the "newsletter."

As far as the "y" is concerned, I'm not sure why the park's marketing team chose that spelling. "Whyte Lightning" was also used on moonshine bottles that were sent media members, presumably made by "Crystal Rock Bottling Company," which was the name painted on the station for Shoot the Rapids.

All of this to say, it's an option. I'm not sure if it's trademarked. But it's something the park has used in the past for marketing tools, and has a relation to thunder, in a way.

I think this calls for another update to my Apple Maps layout.

Is it just me, or does that MCBR seem a bit long for a standard RMC train?

Will we see a longer-than-usual train for RMC on MS2.0?

Wild idea: What if they did a show building (a-la Mystic Timbers) on the MCBR to time it up with the train coming down the first drop? I know, that's reaching.. but a fun idea.

Would love a couple of wooden tunnels to roll through esp. inside the structure

First ride; Magnum 1994

I have been wondering for a while now why the MCBR is so long. It's easily twice as long as the train will be. It just seems like RMC Could have incorporated another small airtime hill or something before the MCBR. Maybe there will be something special about it, like Gravity threw out there. Or maybe it's just long because the original MCBR was long. Probably the latter.

Texas Giant also has a fairly long MCBR, and its trains are 6 cars long. A brake run doesn't have to be exactly as long as the length of a train. In fact it's better for it to be longer so the train can have room to stop smoothly in the case of an e-stop.

It seems like the train will exit the MCBR at a fairly slow speed, going by the radius and banking of the turn immediately after the MCBR.
