Ride Ops

How old do you have to be to operate the big coasters like Millennium Force. Also can you do that as a seasonal job.

Not sure on the age but ride op IS a seasonal job since the park is only open seasonal months.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure it's 18 as far as ride operations like that go.

I think there is a problem associated with the jobs section of the site. Many jobs seem to be coming up in the wrong categories, and others aren't even listed. "Ride Host/Operator" is the title, but I'm not sure why the site limits to only talking about the Children's Areas.

That's what I'm doing. When I graduate in June I will still be 17 but I will be able to apply for a ride op because I have graduated.

Only for the train though. You won't be able to work any other ride operator position until you are 18.

Is there an Ohio law that prohibits Ride Ops under 18, or is that just a CP rule?

While I like the rule, I think there are jobs 16 year olds are able to do that are much more dangerous, and have the same potential to injure others...

I think you only have to be 16 to be a ride operator at Geauga Lake...

Doug, I e-mailed CP concerning this issue a few weeks back and here is the response I got. "Yes you would be able to work rides if you are seventeen but only if you are graduated from high school."

Very well, but the train is a ride, and it is considered a ride operator/host position. I was told even if you had graduated, it was the train only, until you were 18.

It came straight form the assitant manager of ride operations. In the e-mail if it was just the train she would have told me the train. At least it is all straightened out and we all know what the requirements for a ride op are.

You also have to take visual boards to do controls by yourself thats telling park ops you know the millenium force block brake system and ride admission policy. I passed mine on raptor first shot. Also for any ride besides the train you have to be 18

David, look what I said towards the middle of this page.

What??? I graduated high school last year on June 5th but couldn't process in at CP until June 24th, the day after I turned 18 because I was told that you could only work the train if you were 17. Is that something that is new this year?

Who was the 17 year old on Dragster?

We had a girl on our crew this year who was 17. I'm pretty sure they changed the rule starting this year.

The age to run any ride at Cedar Point is 18 years old and graduated from High School.
