We can put that check in a money market mutual fund, then we'll reinvest the earnings into foreign currency accounts with compounding interest and its gone....

I thought the economic situtation has all resulted from our own greed. Ask anyone that has lived through depression about how frugal they had to be, and how frugal they lived in the years following. I work with people that have been cut in hours, know people that have lost there jobs, and other that are uncertain about there future in their employment, but see that they are still paying for cell phones, trying to buy the new plasma, eating out every night and not saving for the future. Maybe we need a prolonged depression to get people make smarter money decisions. Along the lines of the bracket game from the other site, its a bit of nice entertainment, and after all its entertainment right?
Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.
^^Another ignorant conservative. You want to see incompetent morons? Look at your boys Bush and Cheney. They are the reasons why our economy is almost at the point of no return. And can you please explain why he is a socialist? For as long as I have known, America has had free public schooling, libraries, police forces, fire fighters, etc. Looks like you are the moron.
I like to stay on topic, but this post forced me to reply. Why are you calling him "another idiot Conservative"? Are you seriously blaming EVERYTHING on Bush and Cheney? :rolls eyes: What do you think of Barney Frank (D) telling people to invest in F&F Mac? Did you even see the video of McCain warning everyone about this crisis? I love how you play the blame game. You sound just like that crook Barney Frank when he was on The O'Reilly Factor and O'Reilly gave him some good choice words. So it looks like YOU are the moron.
Why not? He is number one in viewers and Hannity is a close second. The far-left pundits are in dead last or didn't even make the list. You don't really seem old enough to know what you are talking about.
Ratings don't make the garbage coming out of his mouth true. Rush limbaugh has the radio ratings, but his views are purely ignorant. You're right though, the liberals don't know what they are doing. Lets keep throwing money at big business! The money will trickle down to the middle class! Tax cuts for the rich!

^It turned out that we now have an incompetent moron as President. A moron who is also a socialist.
I like it better when you don't post ignorant nonsense like this and derail threads with your drivel.
I half agree with Walt, but I also don't believe that any politician, from either side of the aisle, believes that economic health is a product of government spending. No one says that, and I doubt they think it either.
The economic policy of Bush vs. Obama is pretty straight forward if you ask me. The former spent wildly on a pointless war justified out of irrational fear, while the latter wants to spend (or offer high-risk loans, technically) to financial institutions that have ground to a halt. Neither desired to do this because it would grow flowers and make us all rich. I think it's ridiculous to suggest that.
And I'd love to hear from the armchair economists who can explain how doing nothing is better for all of us.

That anyone would consider entertainers, and that's what O'Reilly, Limbaugh, et al, are, actual political pundits scares the hell out of me. Those no-name professors, authors and professionals that they quote in news articles are real authorities. Perhaps you should read what they have to say.

Well in my view of this economic mess, we can blame all of Washington bureaucratic's at work. They were all asleep at the wheel and also for our own actions since people were living on credit and invisible money. Everyone needs to show some financial common sense. Trust me I know by falling into the credit card trap and it forced me into curtailing my expenses. As I was able to pay off my debt and learned from my own stupid self.
Also throwing money at the problem will not solve anything.
Anyone want to stage a tax tea party at CP.
Wow people would vote for a drop ride with great theming over a great coaster? You people must really like your helping of theming.
Zach, who is staying out of the political junk. . .
Let's Get Weird.
Unfortunately, the fine line between politics and entertainment has all but evaporated. See Ronald Reagan, Jesse Ventura, The Governator, et al. Not enough? How about Sonny Bono and Gopher -- not to mention electoral runs by a number of pundits (not counting Stephen Colbert!), as well failed politicans who later became pundits. It's all a blur now.
Which in no way suggests that a moron like Limbaugh deserves to speak or be heard in the same arena as serious professionals. (And actually, Rush is no moron -- he excels at doing exactly what he wants; it's only that what he succeeds in doing has the appearance of being moronic,)

Sorry for the double post. Back on topic.
ToT is a tremendous ride, the first drop ride that I can honestly say I really enjoyed. And it's true, it is difficult to make a legitimate comparison between a drop tower and a roller coaster. I actually thought long and hard about it -- okay, sixty seconds . . . but that's 55 seconds longer than I think about most things.
My vote? If a poll demands a choice, then the win goes to Maverick -- but only by a hair. Almost any other coaster, I would give it to ToT. Mystery Mine, for example, would come in second in that kind of comparison. But Maverick is simply that good.

That doesn't make any sense. Politicians were being bureaucratic but they didn't do anything? Which is it?
It seems that the general public is willing to find a single point of failure when there were many failures on the part of government, corporations and individuals, and at the same time, make generalizations about what the current administration and congress intend to do as universally bad. Painting all of these broad stokes is lazy and doesn't achieve anything.

I like that 'single point of failure' statement, I totally agree. To blame Bush and Bush alone for everything is ludicrous. Your typical liberal would emphatically say that our current situation isn't Obama's fault, and it isn't. But by the same token it wasn’t Bush's fault that oil prices spiked, we had a mortgage crisis and Americans changed their driving/car purchasing habits all at once.
I also find it incredibly hilarious that the liberals who today are bemoaning the lack of federal oversight of our financial industry by the GOP are the same liberals that, if government were to institute some new oversight, regulation or monitoring program, would dial up the ACLU in a heartbeat and scream about the Feds being all up in their Kool-Aid. Democrats and liberals are like Detroiters: nothing is my fault, and since I have no viable plan to fix things or improve the situation, I will just blame everybody else for my problems.
Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."
Calling out "liberals" or making other generalization is as non-constructive as trying to pin down the problems to one thing. Why is it that people are incapable of working things out without resorting to these stupid generalizations? They don't advance the discussion. I consider myself a fairly liberal guy (socially, at least), but wouldn't do any of the things you suggest, so your generalizations are pointless and divisive.

Well if anyone wants to know Maverick won with 74% of the votes to ToT's 25%.
R.I.P. Mr. Scott
74 + 25 = 99% where's the other 1%
