restraints

The thing I always worried about is someone not pushing the lapbar down all the way so they are confortable, and ride ops just checking that they are locked, not necessarly snug.

All I know is *I* am pushing *my* lapbar as far as it will go

Does it stop at 420 feet in the air.......?¿?
No you still have to spiral down
If it is similar to Xcelerator at Knott's, which is very likely, you'd better go to the bathroom before getting in line, and not drink anything previous to riding because the ops intentionally staple the passengers. This may have been over done because of the Perilous Plunge incident, but don't be surprised if you're stapled.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

I think it all depends on the crew working at the time.

lol, then it wont be any different from MF or Wicked Twister, both are rather snug and a little uncomfortable in the obvious spots......
Funny...

...everytime I go to ride, I always know how to sit properly, and I never have to fight a ride host. It's all about sitting correctly in the seat (or standing on Mantis). I have never been stapled before...on ANY ride.

Funny...

Apparently you havent been on Xcelerator, because they physically, no matter how poperly you are sitting into the seat, force the bar very hard into your stomach, and struggle to pull the seatbelt as hard as possible and as tight as possible.

So before you go on the ride that we are talking about , Xcelerator, keep your mouth shut.

Hmmm...you're not very nice!

The post was indeed aimed at Xcelerator and TTD. Why is someone getting so upset about being safe. I would rather they "force the bar very hard" into my stomach rather than falling out that high up. And no, I haven't been on Xcelerator, but if it's too uncomfortable for you to ride, I suggest you don't ride...or lose some weight so that the bar isn't that uncomfortable.

steelrider, you apparently haven't been to Knott's lately. They certainly weren't "forcing the bar" at Coaster Solace. Making sure it was safe, yes, but NOT to the point of pain.

Brian, how will losing weight make the bar more comfortable??
Speaking from someone who weighs 135 lbs, I never have a problem with the bar crushing me. Just thought I would help him out.

I agree with Greg. At Coaster Solace, they SLOWLY pushed the bars down to a snug position. Then they would give a good tug on the seatbelt. Not once did I get jammed. Like ride ops on Expedition GeForce in Germany. That was insane!

I have heard the measurement 40 in thrown around as the largest waist size that the TTD belts will accomodate. Is it the same as Millenium Force?

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

Don't count on a waistline measurement telling you much.

The safety belts on roller coasters do not go around your waist, or at least they're not supposed to. On Millennium Force, the anchor points are positioned far enough forward that the belt actually goes over your thighs. Which is appropriate; this is where you should be restrained anyway.

Thing is, some of us are larger there than we are at the waistline. And most of us have no idea how big we are at the thigh.

Incidentally, this positioning point is proper any time you are secured by a lap restraint. You should be held down by the bones in your thighs, not held back by the soft tissue and absence of skeleton around your waist. The annoying thing, of course, is that most modern automobile seat belts make this rather difficult.....

But if a person can fit in MF, should they be able to ride TTD based on the seatbelts/restraints? I guess my question is are the restraints in TTD and MF likely to accomodate the same people.

The restraint system appears to be the same as MF's (from what I can see of the train pictures posted on CP's site).

Regardless, my husband who had a 44 inch waist last year was able to ride MF for the reasons stated by Rideman above (he's down to a 41 inch waist now).

His concern is height. At 6'4.5", there are some rides he cannot fit into (Deja Vu).

I think it's a pretty safe bet that the seatbelts for Dragster will be the same as they were for Millennium Force last season.

Thats good to hear Walt. With all of this talk about short seatbelts I was starting to worry. I feel a lot better now though because I've never had a problem riding Millennium Force.

Honest truth told to me by marina gate readmissions host:

Host: Hand stamped, two cents.

Me: That's cool, I think I have two cents.

Host: I better not take it, by the time you leave here its all you'll have.

It is true that finally after a year of plastering riders into the seats of Xcelerator, they no longer jam the bar into your gut. I just went yesturday, the first oppurtunity since its recent construction...and not only did they leave my seatbelt loose, but the lapbar actually gave me room for some air off the seat...its about time.

I guess like most things, after so long they start to get lazy, and untill aother fatal incident happens at Knotts, we will be able to breath on rides again.

And i think its very safe to say, that the restraints and seats will be similar to MF.

If it hurts you to ride, I would suggest not riding. I would rather them "jam" the bar into me and make sure I'll be ok, then take any chances.
