Restraint Question

I hate lawyers

last year I got a ride and slide pass and the second day we were in the waterpark. as were waiting in line I noticed that the magnum was stuck at the top and we watched an employ going up and walking people down and it looked like he was releasing the lap bars with a key.

Every Ride at Cedar Point has its own special key, or battery operated device to unlock saftey restraint systems. Like others have said they can not and will not open in any case unless an employee with the proper equipment comes along to release the restraints.

As for walk downs, we need supervisors and managers present at all times, and the supervisors and managers are the ones that release the restraint systems. In case of a derailment I have no idea what would happen. I'm sure this is something Cedar Point would not like to think much about. Although I am sure they have a safey plan in place for it. At that point if that was to happen the employees operating the ride would call 911 and emergency crews, managers, supervisors, and maintenance would show up and take over while the ride crews kept people calm on the platforms and filled out any necessary incident reports and other paperwork involved.

Oh, and if anyone happens to be on a ride if it breaks (god forbid that it ever happen) please remain in your seat with all safety restraints fastened and secured. It is MUCH safer for you to stay in your seat with the restraints in place than to try and get out of the ride. They are there to save your life... Let the engineers do what they do best.

I was thinking this same thing while riding Nitro over and over and over again one night this summer. There's a foot pedal in front of each row that releases the restraints. The part that scared me is that its right behind the wheel assembly. So, if a wheel was to come off, its possible (but highly unlikely) that the wheel could hit the foot pedal, releasing the restraints on that car. And, as everyone knows, Nitro doesn't have seatbelts.
