Well, now that CP has expanded a little since the sixties, the Space Spiral isn't so centrally located anymore... I think ridership would increase if it was near the center of the park. The main reason I don't ride it anymore is becuase I don't want a good view of the parking lot!!! If I want a view, I usually ride Power Tower.
A lot of park's spiral isn't centrally located.
he DOES have a point, why not put it closer to the center, maybe near the force. Now that would be a view:;
I like it just where it is. Besides, if the boardwalk ever materializes, it'll fit in perfectly!

With the height, you get a great view no matter where is it located; the peninsula just isn't that big! You could also say why look at all the water? I think it's fine where it is. And you do have the Sky Ride more central, too!

What a job and cost it would be to move it! Why bother?
I like it where it is now! Besides it would be perfect with the "Boardwalk Project"

I am the king of the diamond! Let there a grand clubhouse feast, bring me the finest meats and cheeses in all the land!
Considering how deep the footers on that thing go, and the fact that at the center of the park you already have Power Tower, I think it should stay right whereit is.
It's not like moving the Giant Wheel. It would probably be cheaper just to build a new one.. With A/C.. hehehehe

Cedar Point needs to keep rides in that area of the park. Everything is supposed to be spread out in a park, its designed that way to keep paths smoothly running and having people in all of the areas. Also, Cedar Point looks better with three 300ft towers spread out. Is Cedar Point the only park with 3 towers over 300ft?
I'm not sure that moving the Giant Wheel was just routine. If I was a betting man, I'd say that Space Spiral would be way easier to move. Think about it. There isn't anywhere near the parts or re-assembly required.
Yeah... but the footers that support that tower are so deep. And are a part of the structure, so you'd have to dig them up.
Rideman, you remember how far the footers are? They used to say it during the ride.

How, far are its footers. Are they the deepest in the park?
I don't remember how deep they are, but I'm pretty sure it's in "CP:tqoawp" which I can check when I get home...

If I remember the spiel from the ride correctly, the footers are 30 feet deep.
Well, I am at home, and I looked up the Space Spiral in the Francis book, but there is no mention of the depth of the footers. Sorry. :(

Space Spiral's footer is 30 feet deep. I think that Giant Wheel should be relocated...again. Putting it next to Space Spiral defeats the purpose of both rides. Both are scenic rides, but next to each other gives you the same scene on both rides, just a few feet in difference. Giant Wheel would have been better in Frontier Town.

Naw, naw! Ya got it all wrong. It's very healthful to have them so close. You ride the Space Spiral about 4:00pm on a sunny, humid, August Saturday, and then go ride the Giant Wheel. See, it's like going from the Sauna to the Steam Room! Then a brisk walk to Thunder Canyon for a rinse-off! That's so very healthy for you!

They are fortunate at cp to have limestone bedrock not too deep in the ground, good to anchor anything to.
Put the Space Spiral on the MF Island, that be cool.
Why couldn't CP just leave the footers there?
