The operators of the boat ride let too many people on at once and the boat lists and takes on water.
Pavement that was poured last minute hasn't cured and women get their heels stuck.
Many of the most popular ride are not running.
The plumbers didn't have time to get their work done so there are no water fountains in lieu of having working toilets.
Where did this happen? Six Flags? Cedar Point? How about Disneyland on opening day in 1955.
I don't hear a lot of complaints about Disneyland these days.
I don't bash a Six Flags park because they have a bad opening day. I bash a park, any park, because they have a bad day during the heart of their season. I suspect Cedar Point will pull it together in a very short time.

The reality? For a park that can move more people through ride queues than any other park on the planet, their skills at moving people through Season Pass processing and walk-up food service are woefully, inexcusably inadequate.
The reality? Cedar Point's season really starts on June 7, the day after CoasterMania. Everything that happens before then is practice.
The reality? Every ride in the park except Thunder Canyon and Wave Swinger was operational. That alone is pretty impressive by some parks' standards.

BTW - At least TTD will be open on a regular day basis unlike X-Flight (or should I say Ex-Flight).

Live life to the hight.
How on earth do they do it? All those stalls, stands, and games alone must be a mission to staff. Never mind the training of the ride-ops, and the maintenance of the rides. Plus putting in a $ 25 000 000.00 ride that delivered the most insane experience of my life.
My only gripe of the day (apart from THAT wall), was that Mean Streak didn't have 3 trains running. But I bet it will on Friday....:)
I've never been to SFWOA. Every time I talk to my friends about going (even just to check it out), someone talks me down from the ledge and tells me not to waste my time. These are not necessarily CP fans - some of them haven't been to CP for 5 years or more. But these same people NEVER talk that way about CP.
I personally think opening day was AWESOME.

For those 16 extreme seconds, it was worth the wait....
Last year when I went, it was one of the most memorable times in my 15 years. Everything was perfect, and I don't remember any bad things happening. Every thing was tip top. I'm hoping it will be similar, excluding dragster, this Saturday. If it isn't, then I'll give it another try in the summer. No need to bring SF into this. Most of the comments you have made stand for themselves.

It seems like some people here are judging their experience by the number of trains running on Dragster. My friends and I had a great day at the park. No, we didn't wait 5 hrs to ride Dragster, but we did have a beer instead. We just enjoyed Cedar Point overall and had a great time with nothing to complain about. Dragster will be waiting for me this Friday after work!

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!
That said, some of these comments seem a bit extreme.
First, I just don't see the point of comparing SFMM and CP. After all, no one ever wakes up and has to decide which one they'll drive to that day. The only people that choose between them are coasterphiles, and they'll all go to both anyway. There's just no point in trying to compare one to the other. I haven't been to SFMM yet, but a quick visit should be in the cards next year during the family Disneyland outing we have planned. I'm looking forward to it.
Second, some of the Six Flags bashing in general seems unwarranted. I haven't been to WoA yet, but this year I have been to SFMW (early April) and SFA (this past Saturday). I had fun at both parks. True, with the notable exception of Roar East, none of the coasters at either had crews that could give the average CP crew a run for its money in the hitting interval department. On the other hand, these two parks have three wooden coasters (Roar West, Roar East, and Wild One), all of which are at least as good if not better than either of the woodies at CP. I thought SFA's S:ROS was right up there with Magnum, and Medusa West was worth many a re-ride. Neither of these parks is the scope of CP, but each was worth a visit, and I wouldn't think twice about returning to either.
And, just to show what a true heretic I am, I'm planning to take the family to SFWoA once this summer, so my kids can see the shows on the wildlife side.
Finally, most of us who have read steelrider33's posts in the past realize that it is unlikely that anything short of seeing God Herself at the top of the top hat would have convinced him that CP is all that and a bag of chips. Frankly, I suspect the same is true of many of you with respect to SFMM. So what?
All the times I go to a Six Flags park they always have 1 train running per coaster, and if it duels or races they only have 1 side running. Like when I went to SFGAdv on April 17th. Viper was closed. B:TR was closed (but I hate that ride so I didn't care). B&R: The Chiller had only Robin running. I was in line for Nitro for about an hour already with only 1 train running, then they announced that they were going to put the second train on and everybody cheered. It took them 20 min. to put the train on the track then took them 10 min. to put the dummies in the train. So the line was dead still for 30 min. but we stayed in line. Then they tested the train with the dummies about 15 times which meant they were only loading every other train. They would keep the train with the dummies in it in the station for about a min. after the other train stopped in the brakes. Then it took them 10 min. to unload the dummies. Then they finally got the second train running with riders. So if Nitro was at CP which means running all 3 trains it would have probably cut the queue time from 2 hrs. 15 min. to 30 min.-40 min.
Brian, you said that SFA's S:RoS is up there with Magnum. I can't believe you said that. That ride sucks. I fell asleep on it untill the end/brakes where my head slammed into the seat in front of me.

Was I disappoionted TTD didnt have six trains at full capacity? Yes. Did the ride more than make up for my six hour wait? Yes.
Let's stop the CP and SF bashing (shoot, I just became a hypocrite) and just enjoy all of the incredible rides we have on this earth!
