I have to be honset, I wanted to be awed by Cedar Point, and be proven wrong, but im sorry to say it didnt happen. Not only did i see the mess for myself on Opening Day, but I have heard complaint after complaint on this website alone from some "loyal" CP fans about too much litter, walls in the way, low capacity on rides, smoking employees, disgruntled guests and Top Thrill Dragster missing almost everything it was built for (no smoke, no sound effects, missing a car on each train, only having 3 trains running when EVERYONE backed up the idea that CP was too Proffessional to allow anything but the best on opening day) except the ride experience itself. My overall experience to Cedar Point was a bust-and im not just saying this to be cruel, but to give an honest opinion from a person that wanted to love Cedar Point.
And now its time to eat your words. Cedar Point wasnt completely ready for opening day, and admit it. They fell behind, and didnt meet the expectations that I and many other fans had as well. Anyone who doesnt agree with me, say what you want, but this board is for those "unsatisfied" customers who want to talk about expectations that were'nt met. Lets hear those dissapointments. This topic may not last long, but then it just goes to show, some CP fans are just too proud to admit wrongs, when reality hits.

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

I don't see disappointment from anyone but you. Yeah, capacity sucked on Dragster opening day, but in addition to the fact that we go into opening day knowing it'll be crowded (but go anyway), most of us are willing to cut them a little slack. Let's be frank... if it were the competition the ride wouldn't have been open at all. Unless there is some catastrophic failure, I can bet that we'll not see a single day where the ride hasn't operated at all.
Is Dragster perfect? The experience sure is, and I'm amazed the complaints about queue time aren't worse. If I went opening day, I probably would have skipped Dragster and had a beer. I might have even bought you one, but you're not old enough.
Truth is, the park opened much as it closes every year, and opens every day in between. Every ride was open, and running at a reasonable capacity. All things told, I'm amazed they do as well as they do every year with 4,000 seasonal employees.

When I die, They'll read this And say a genius wrote it.
I flew from Minnesota to ride Dragster on opening day, and I didn't get to ride it. I was also really cold most of the day, and guess what? It was still a perfectly wonderful day that I'll never forget.
If capacity was low on anything but Dragster, I didn't see it, and I was there all day. I also didn't see an abundance of litter, but I did see lots of park employees with brooms.
Dragster went vroom vroom, which seemed like ample sound effects. Smoke and lights would be nifty, but I didn't miss them because I hadn't seen it before. We were told that anybody who was in line by closing time (8 p.m.) would get to ride, no matter how long it took. Does Six Flags operate into the wee hours of the morning on a 40-degree night to make sure its visitors get to ride a new ride the first day?
It didn't seem to me that Cedar Point wasn't ready for opening day. If they need to take it a little slow to get a new ride up and running safely, that's fine with me. My guess is that it takes practice and experience with crowds of riders for the ride operators to master the art getting people on and off. We chose not to wait, but managed to find plenty of other ways to amuse ourselves.
Our family went to Six Flags. Once. Never again. The two newest/biggest/baddest rides were shut down. It was an uncrowded, cloudy, Wednesday afternoon, and every line was over an hour long because they ran only one train on each. When we visit a Cedar Fair park, we always feel like everyone who works there welcomes us and wants us to have a great day. We didn't get that feeling *at all* at Six Flags.

I was there all day. What I saw was ecstatic riders exiting the platform after riding the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster. I saw jaws drop and cheers whenever a train was launched. What I didn't see was disgruntled guests standing in line at park operations. Whatever opening day quirks there where, it sure didn't darken anyone's day.
Sure there's discussion on things the park can do better. That's been going on here at GTTP since the site's beginning. But you're the only person I've seen who looks at opening day as a negative. Considering your posting history, that's no surprise.
Cedar Point, as a park, operated at a higher level on May 4 than SFWoA will operate on its best day all year. Cedar Point is the top dog for a reason. And it's the reason that when SFWoA opened last week, no one noticed.

Actually, SFWoA was nice that day when compared to it's history of openings. Villain was running two trains and the "new" RWB was operating so I really can't complain.

I often ponder about which park is better (CP vs SFMM). I write down the coasters, and analyze how much I enjoy them. As far as ride per ride goes, they are almost exactly equal, in my mind. The reason I like CP more than SFMM is the atmosphere you feel at the park.
CP may have problems with rides, but they'll never have problems with making you feel at home. That's what makes a good park, and that's what SFMM needs to learn how to do.
Make up your own punch lines. My work is done here.
