Quick Question

Just a quick question....on the Employee Brochure, it says free internet access in housing; does that mean they have a computer with internet access, or the dorms are just wired for u to bring your own computer?
Bring your own computer at your own RISK. You have to have an ISP and they do have internet for $1 every five minutes in the Commons Store or in Cedars lobby. Don't know about Gold.

There are I believe like 4 or 5 computers in the commons recreation building that have internet access. But there is usually a bunch of people in there and it takes a while to get on them. Like CrazyCoasterGuy said, you bring your computer at your own risk, I wouldn't suggest doing that, too many people living in a small area and you don't know who is shady and who isn't. Your never really around in your room to be online for extended periods of time, unless your an insomniac.

Cedar Point ought to just buy a couple wireless 802.11G transmitters and install those in the dorms. Great way to provide internet for cheap!

Another quick question.....How easy is it to get around without a car? Like to local shopping areas, the movies, barbershops, places like that. How convienient are the shuttles?
You will find friends that have cars, otherwise its a bit of a hassle to get to the mall by bus but without a car isnt travel always a hassle anyway

Travel sure is a hassle Boone. I hated the bus being cramed with people and when I got on the bus after it came back from the mall one day, all those internationals had their junk piled up in the aisles and didn't give a crap about those getting on, the ones that lived down on point. I just wanted a ride to the park for the evening and I had to take up with a bunch of international idiots that wouldn't let me have a comfortable ride to the park because they didn't want to move their groceries and other goodies that they got at either Meijer's or the mall, Cedar Point needs to run more buses and they need to make limits on what you can and cannot bring on the bus.

More busses was discussed last year. And the way it sounded like they won't be adding them anytime soon. Why limit what they can bring, that may be there only way they can get around. And they need groceries and other goodies just like the people that have there own car to get around in. It wouldn't be fair to the internations if we limited what they can and can't bring, and how much the bring back from the mall.

Where, in your opinion, is the best place to live in Cedar Point housing?

My opinion is bayside, but you have to be one of the first people to process in. Last year I processed in on April 25 and Bayside was already filled up. If i'm not mistaken it was filled up around April 15. The best housing depends on the person.

My opinion on housing is to live on-point -- sure, the quality is pretty much the worst (no heat or AC, tiny rooms, etc.), but the convenience can't be beat. You're right next to the cafeteria, post office, wardrobe, etc., you don't have to fight the traffic in the morning (which isn't an excuse for being late to work, remember, even if you're on the employee bus), and you can sleep later without worrying about being late to work. Plus, it's the cheapest housing if you're really interested in saving up.

I'm just so full of questions....here is another one. If I'm coming in late May, will on-point housing (Cedars) be available because I won't have a car and I need to live close where i won't have to worry about the bus. That leads me to my next question....I won't be bringing my car out there and I'm taking the Amtrak to sandusky. The train gets in at 6am. Can I get a cab to the park and will I be able to process in that early?

I think the earliest you can get there is 8 am, but I'm not sure. It will say on your contract.

The earliest you can process in at 8am. Human Resources opens around that time. If i'm not mistaken but Cedars rarely every fills up. Don't worry about about getting there at early. Its a good thing to get there early because some days there will be along along along line just to process in. And getting there early it will give you alot of time to rest. Which during the summer you wish you could rest. So you also know Cedars is right behind Human Resources and Wardwobe isn't to far of a walk from there.

Cedars will definately fill up (always does, to my knowledge), but not until toward the end of June, so you won't have a problem with that. You will certainly be able to get a cab from the bus station that early (the cab companies are well aware of when the buses come in and are usually there to meet them), but like others have said, HR won't open until 8am. Then again, it doesn't hurt to be there early and waiting in line for it to open -- there can be quite a crowd to process in, especially on weekends.

Depends on the job you have! Each one is different. Most departments give the same amount of break time, but it may be split up differently. Mine is great.. our breaks are split up a lot, because the job is so demanding, so we have a break ever 2 - 2 1/2 hours. The only bad part is that while other jobs may get thier breaks in 45 minute or one hour increments ours are split up into 15 and 30 minute increments.. but that way we can take them every few hours. If I am working an O-C (7:30 am - Close) my breaks would be something like this..

10:15 - 15 minutes

12:15 - 30 minutes

2:15 - 15 minutes

4:15 - 15 minutes

6:15 - 30 minutes

8:15 - 15 minutes

In merch you get either a half hour or an hour unless you are working at o-c then you get a half hour and hour break during the day. Also depending on where either your TL will tell you when to go on break or you will have a breaker. A breaker is a person that just relieves you for your break.

You get 15 minutes worth of breaks for every 2 hours worked.... a 45 and then whatever else those other hours add up to, using the 2hr to 15 minutes ratio. I know at my job now that's how it is.

In rides, they are usually split up something like this:

O-1:30 = 15 minute break

Split = (2) 15 minute breaks

O-6 = (1) 45 minute break, (1) 15 minute break

O-8 = (1) 45 minute break, (1) 30 minute break

O-C = (1) 45 minute break, (1) 30 minute break, (1) 15 minute break

11:30-C = (1) 45 minutre break, (1) 30 minute break

1:30-C = (1) 45 minute break, (1) 15 minute break

-----------------------------------------------------

These are of course dependent on how your TL/ATL want to run breaks, the parks operating hours and other factors. It's pretty much run that way.
