Question about video taping

Who stuck a bug up your asses' EmrgncyStop and MFJedi2? He e-mailed Cedar Point about an issue, they said it was ok, now whats the problem? Let him be. Does it affect you 2? Will him bringing his camera affect your days at the park and riding experiences? No. Take a downer.

Spoken like a couple guys who are sick of their jobs and dealing with people lol. Agreed with Vince, chill out. Your life won't change drastically either if a guest takes a short video while riding a train.

I could care less about him having a camera. I am sick of people complaining and whining about every single little rule in the park these days. The rules say no taking pictures from the rides, that's it-there is no what if, there is no i can hold my camera policy. The rule is the rule. Why is it so hard for people to obey something so simple? Take your video and pictures off the rides-is it that hard?

People that whine about the rules, then eventually break them anyway are the reason the rules are there in the first place. The policy probably used to allow picture taking on the slow rides, but some idiot took it too far and dropped his camera near someone or created a huge ruckuss when it was dropped into the lagoon and CP simply said ban them on all the rides.

Plus is anyone really that stupid that they would believe a printout of a supposed email from an official at CP? You can print anything to make it look like it came from anyone, the captain of the boat should crumple it up and throw it in the trash, that's what it is worth.

What is so great that it needs to be videotaped on the boat anyway?

If he would have just shown up with his camera after being told not to use it then shame on him, but he e-mailed Cedar Point to get their permission. The boat provides some great views of the park that you can't see from the main land. Calm down.

There are really some short tempers here.I consider the subject closed.

I agree with Allan.. they don't have much in the way of fun anymore for the "older" generation. This is one of the reasons we like to go..video(ing) is a part of the fun for us. Once they shortened the seat belts on Millenium and Dragster they took away most of our fun.. so let the old folks take their videos. I would take that letter to the office and get it STAMPED Allan... hold up that ride if necessary.. it is your right! :)

I am in the younger generation, almost 17 and I tell ya, if I had a video camera I would bring it with me! I will have to make do with my camera phone and disposable camera.

Still, the rules are the rules. Dummies keep breaking them and it will ruin it for all cameras in the park. If the captain of that boat says you can tape, then by all means tape,no one has any problem with that. But don't go waving some email to them expecting them to look at it and follow it like it was an executive order from Kinzel himself. Anyone with a word processor can make a fake email in seconds to look like it came from anyone about anything.

Video taping will be gone soon due to all the perverts taping at soak city and the water rides, people whing and complaining about not being able to tape on the boat and train will push it over the edge and video taping will be banned. There are already rumblings of this sort of rule in a lot of public places like waterparks, etc, CP will just follow suit once the politicians get on board and push for it.

Just a simple quote and comment
"If common sense is so common how come so few people have it?"

MF, I agree with you.
I also believe we need to weed out the "stupid population" by getting rid of stupid rules and warning labels. Like the label on a hair dryer that tells you not to use it while in the shower...get rid of it and let some stupid idiot kill himself and save the rest of us from having to read the stupid warnings.

In essence use common sense or stay home.

Agreed. Most of the signs there are for liability anyway. That way if they get sued, they can say "well we have a sign" when they have probably 50 different signs we're supposed to read.

I'm bringing my still shot camera and am gonna take pictures wherever I want. But not on the coasters cause 1) I'm not stupid and 2) I dont wanna lose my camera. I figure as long as I use common sense, there's no problem.

I am glad to see there are some people who still have respect for the rules.

I have no problem with people taking pictures or videos wherever it is allowed at CP. However I would not rely on a supposed email that says maybe it is ok to video wherever they said you could. If the rules say no video or pictures on any ride, that is it. I don't care if you are an old person who can't ride and can do nothing but video, the rule is the rule. If you are upset that you can't do anything at the park but video, maybe you should find something better to do. Don't jeopardize the rest of us by breaking the rules, you keep whining and moaning and taking video when you are told not to and they will totally ban videotaping all together, mark my word. They won't put up with a few whiners, they will simply stop it and that will be that.

Yes,it may be ridiculous that you cannot take a video on a slow ride like the boat. But the rule is there for a reason, suppose you are taping when they dock the ship, pier pressure I think the captain calls it,that jolt with a camera out the side of the boat would jar it from your hand and put it in the drink. Why lose a $400 camcorder?

These are not hard rules to follow. Life as you know it will not end if you cannot get that otherwise impossible to get video from the boat. Use your brains and some common sense and don't ruin it for everyone.

Mr Jedi.

"supposed E mail"?

Just so you know the "supposed"E- mail was signed by a park official.I did not request "permission"to use my camera.I was simply told by this official that on the boat and the train, all photography is permitted.I would also appreciate a modicum of courtesy from you and others who have chosen to respond to this thread, but chose to consider my question "whinning".Im sure that courtesy would be very present were we talking face to face.
