Question about video taping

You are absolutely correct Michael.

Did I say that any park allowed cameras on fast rides?

I think it boils down to getting caught. I'm gonna be bringing my camera and take pictures all over the place cause I only get to go once a year and need to have some good pictures to remember it by. But its only a still camera, not a camcorder.

There's so many people bringing them that if they have some rule against it, they would have a hard time enforcing it.

Just don't do anything stupid. I'm sure your fellow guests wouldn't appreciate getting hit with a camera at 120 or 93mph. Taking pictures in the park is one thing,in the middle of a major roller coaster is another. Use your brain please.

People who just don't care are the ones who have ruined it for everyone. There is always some moron who thinks he can hold onto a camera on a 120mph launch.

Jedi,I didnt bring up the subject of cameras on roller coasters, only soft rides.Correct me if Im wrong, but you brought up the Dragster and cameras. If I misunderstood,Ill be glad to apologize.

nah, I wouldnt use a still camera on a roller coaster, picture would be crap anyway. But maybe on sky ride to get a few good pics.

No no,total misunderstanding. I brought up Dragster as an example. In past years they have been a little leniant on people taking pictures on slow rides like the Wheel,Train,Boats, etc. I'm sure people abusing the rule on higher speed rides like Dragster has brought about the enforcement of the rule on all rides, including the slower ones.

OK Jedi,I gotcha.

I never knew about no cameras being allowed on Sky Ride or CP & LE. I had my camera with me on Sky Ride and got some great pics. Two park employees were in a gondola heading the other way and we waved at them and they waved at us and didn't say anything about my camera.

We were told last year on Sky Ride that photography on the ride was OK.

Vince,my camera was permitted, but I was told not to use it.(sky ride)Ive been told in the past not to use my camera on the railroad, which really surprised me.Dont tell anyone, but I used it anyway. On the paddlewheel boat I tried to ignore the "captain"and video tape, well, he turned around and rather sternly told me not to do it.At this point,I gave up.Now,what possible harm could one do on the boat by using your camera?

You could lean over the side while taking a picture of something and fallout into the water and ruin you camera.

Which I almost did on the train.

They let me take my camera on the Sky Ride with no problems whatsoever! That was a week ago.

Kendall,we were at CP on the 3rd and 4th.Three times we rode the Sky Ride and two times I was cautioned not to use my camera,a small Sony Hi8.It wasnt as if I was carrying a big clunky VHS camcorder. It was barely noticeable.

FLASH,BREAKING NEWS....I got the official word in an E-mail from CP.Videotaping IS allowed on the train and the paddlewheel, so the operator who stopped me was in error.I printed out the letter so Ill be ready next time a "captain"tries to prevent me from using my camera.

I dont know if you know this but ride operating is stressful and the last thing they need is some pyscho photography nut running around with a letter whining that they said you could. It's on every ride entrance sign in the park. and it's for a reason. You could drop your camera in the lagoon. Ruin it. They dont allow it because to many people lost there cameras and went whining to CP about it thinking that CP could just get it out and repair it for them. *** Edited 7/17/2005 6:58:26 PM UTC by EmrgncyStop***

I highly doubt they will care that you have an email. I can make an email look like it came to me from Bill Gates giving me a million dollars. The rules are the rules, that's it. Simply live with it. We don't need to question every single little rule they make. They run the park we don't. I highly doubt anyones life will change drastically because they can't take a stupid video on the boat, it's not a big deal. Take pictures from the shore and pictures of the rides while not on them and get on with your day.
