purses and other valuable things???

funny thing happened on me and my fiance's trip to Busch Gardens Tampa....we got in line for Gwazi (duel woodie) and when we sat down in the back seats of the train, they stopped the release of the train and told us that my fiance had to put her purse in a locker. They WAITED for us (1 or 2 minutes) to put the purse in, and when we got back to the train, they said that all of the rides required us to do the very same thing! Low and behold, the other 2 major rides there made us do the same thing. We couldn't even get in line.

I have been to CP all my life, and I NEVER heard of such a thing. This made me so mad that we never will visit that park again. I just don't understand why Busch has to cover their **ses like that.

Oh, BTW, $.50 for each time you ride a ride (to store your valuables in a locker).

Well get ready... if it isn't attached or covering you some how, you can't take it on MF. They intend to be ultra strict about it, I'm told.

I had the same thing happen at BGTampa last month, only in my case it was a cell phone clipped on my belt. Even though I had also run my belt through the nylon strap, the ride op insisted I'd have to put it in a locker. Ticked me off enough that I skipped riding Gwazi. I think they're more interested in trying to make $$$ off the lockers than they are in supposed "safety concerns".

Oh, this first hill on MF isn't so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddd.......
"When you board the ride, please put all hats, purses, aaaand backpacks on the white tray in front of your seat and enjoy your ride on the (former) WORLD RRRRRRRRECORD-BREAKING, . . Power Tower."

Realizing for the moment that my personal policy is that I don't want to hold anything while riding, which is why when I shoot video my camera is attached to my hand and often also to my wrist...

(forgot to mention that "when I shoot" implies "not at Cedar Point." I always ask before shooting video on a ride, and so far nobody at Cedar Point has ever said 'yes'.)

Do we yet know about the policy on *secured* bags, for instance the waist pack I now frequently carry, which has both a waist belt and a small shoulder strap...and whose contents I *refuse* to leave behind....?

See, I don't want any surprises when I get up there...

PS to Scott: I have a similar beef with BGT...but in that case the bag in question was *ridiculously* secure...

I wear a belt bag that contains my glucose meter, Sweet Tarts (my personal substitute for glucose tablets), and frequently my digital camera. I REFUSE to leave ANY of these things (the former two in case I need them, the latter because it's expensive).

From Dave's message, it sounds like BGT would give me a hassle even about THAT?

I'm hoping the belt bag proves "secure" enough for policy on MF -- I've never had any problems with it on any ride.

For that matter, I usually have my insulin pump clipped to my belt, and that CAN'T come off (not easily enough to be taking it off on a ride, anyway).

I just got back from Disney World a couple of weeks ago, and one of the interesting observations that I made was that I was allowed to take a backpack with me on every ride there, including the turn-you-upside-down Rockin' Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror.

AND... we're talking about a full-fledged, college bookbag backpack, not just a belt bag. All I did was set it on the floor in front of me and slip my leg through the arm strap.

At any rate, while the MF is a different sort of animal, I can't imagine where a belt bag wouldn't be allowed.

Coming soon to an amusement park near you.

I have always wore a belt bag at every amusement park I have been too, and didnt have anyone tell me to remove it. I know at the Six Flags in Maryland, they let you set your things backpacks, etc, on the counter in each of the loading areas, now some may not think thats a good idea, for the fact that some could steel, but it was an option.

The more you ride it, the more you want it!

I've always done the same thing as Duane at Cedar Point...on every coaster but Raptor and Mantis (they have the dockboxes anyway) as I recall I've just put my backpack on the floor by my feet and nobody's had a problem with it.

I hope they don't change this on the other coasters....and I hope they have dock boxes for MF.

The problem is that MF will be trickier... you get off many feet uptrack from where you got on.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. On other coasters I've been on where you unload at a different spot, it's still not very far (Blue Streak, or Kennywood's Jackrabbit, come to mind).

But MF has a separate "unload station", correct? I wonder how they're planning on handling "loose items".

The transfer track separates the two stations as well, so you can't just scurry across the catwalk to the other station.

Eww ya I didn't think of that. That's an ugly situation.

Jeff, you mean the return station is different from the loading station on MF? I have never been on a coaster that had that. That is actually kind of cool.
Chitown, you've never been on Disaster Transport?

--Dave Althoff, Jr.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about Disaster Transport. What DO they do with loose articles on that? I never really paid attention.

Traditionally, the rule at CP has pretty much been, "ya gotta take it with you" on most rides. Except for mini-basketballs. Those are verboten. They generally don't seem to have too much trouble.

Also, on Disaster Transport, there is a door between the two stations, as they are adjacent to one another. They can just pass stuff through the operator's booth.

--Dave Althoff, Jr.
Don't they have a pocket on the back of the seat in front of you to store loose articles on disaster Transport ( like on an airplane) Why not do this on MF?
Nah on Dispatch Master Transport I just kept my bag in the seat below me like on Magnum and Mean Streak and Blue Streak and all the other non B&M creations.

Mini basketballs--funny story. When I was at Mine Ride entrance (which isn't technically the entrance to the ride, just the entrance to the platform where the turnstile is) people would just throw them away if I'd tell them they weren't allowed to have them on the ride. I often wondered why CP didn't just stop giving them out if they didn't like them so much hehe.

Doesn't CCMR have one of those big blue wastebaskets? Those appeared on most of the coaster platforms in the same week that the mini-basketballs were banned from the rides, and I thought that was what they were for...to give the balls a home while the riders ride.

Speaking of the Mine Ride...

As I am sure we all know, the height-checker for that ride is up on the ramp at the turnstile. Am I the only person who thinks there ought to be a sliding board from the turnstile back down to the midway for the underheight kids to use? :)
