There is currently a power outage in most areas of the park. The demands for refunds on the CP Twitter page is fantastic as it gets. There are multiple rides stuck obviously, so with that in mind, cue the negative publicity in 3...2....1....
I saw MF stuck on the hill in a few IG posts. Damn.
CP Coaster Top 10: 1. Steel Vengeance (40 rides to date) 2. Top Thrill Dragster (191 launches to date, 4 rollbacks) 3. Magnum XL 200 4. Millennium Force 5. Maverick 6. Raptor 7. GateKeeper 8. Valravn 9. Rougarou 10. Gemini
Negative publicity, shame on anyone. However I think people should be granted a refund or tickets for another day. I’m sure CP will make people whole. Can’t controk someone else’s issue!
I saw a local TV station reporter ask for permission to use a photo of Millennium Force about 1/5 of the way up the lift hill. Without the caption, no one would even know it wasn't just a still shot of a moving train.
And yes - the demand for refunds is outrageous on Twitter. So many will need to be made whole today.
Adding to an already less than stellar season fraught with misery and woe.
Next weekend? No water! Yay!
I saw Giant Wheel, Magnum and Gemini operating again from the beach, so apparently the power failure is over. Didn't affect Shores or the beach area so those people probably remained whole.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Outage was around 2 hours. Caused by a car hitting a power pole. Vid on twitter shows a line or transformer smoking on CP drive bordering the main parking lot. Not sure if that was the cause or further down...
Not a super long outage thankfully,. Only real issue I see was it appears that sky rides generator was smoking.

"Well what are you going to do for us? Can I see a manager? This is ridiculous!"
Yeah, this probably happened. Those are the same people that blame the park for lightning storms.
Maverick since '99
Yeah, guest service folks had to address the throngs of people using bullhorns. Tickets are being revalidaded for any day until Labor Day.
Gemini 100 (6/11/01)
That's fantastic compensation for a two hour outage!
Seems like all the rides e-vaced as normal. MF must have got its generator going and got the train that was stopped over the lift. Sky Ride generator seemed a lot smokier than I remember (I was by south sky ride station during 2003 blackout when they got it started, not much smoke ), but guessing that is now just part of its charm. I'm Sure guest who were stuck and e-vaced were also justly compensated.
So much ado about nothing more than likely.

So what about those who have season passes? We should get a refund on part of the pass price because of those two hours of lost ride time! Make season pass holders whole!
;-) /sarcasm
Proud to have fathered a second generation coaster enthusiast destined to keep me young at heart and riding coasters with a willing partner into my golden years!
It even made ABC world news (the 6:30 show)...."scary moments at an Ohio amusement park today...", and of course they showed shaky footage of the people stopped on the MF hill.
Thought and prayers to all of those touched by this tragedy, and on Memorial Day no less.
"Where were you...when the roller coasters stopped a runnin'....
That Memorial Day..."
Promoter of fog.
I plan on holding a candlelight vigil tomorrow for the time that those poor souls lost while they were temporarily stuck. You're all welcome to come.

God, I was there the power outage happened. Is the waterpark on a different electric grid? The park wasn't running, but the waterpark was.

Half of Hotel Breakers was out today. The bathrooms by the deli inside Breakers East were pitch black, the toll booth lights and computers were down, and of course a lot of rides. I’m not sure about CPS being on a different grid, but they didn’t seem to be affected.
Okay. What caused the outage though?
