Just because it can be done doesn't mean its not crazy. It is crazy.

Eat 'em up, Tigers, eat 'em up!
But does crazy mean it will not happen? It probably won't, I admit. But CP can do crazy things and make it work. They did open a 300 ft and a 400 ft coaster in a three year span. Looking back to the late 90's that certainly would have seemed crazy. Heck it still does sound crazy but it happened.
There's "crazy", and then there's "downright idiotic". The idea of installing multiple coasters in the same year is most certainly idiotic, at least from a business perspective. Running a business isn't anything like playing Roller Coaster Tycoon.

I've never played the game so I wouldn't know.
After a five year gap of coasters, and considering they plan in advance of 4 or 5 years, it's not idiotic. A well executed business plan could certainly make it possible (granted there probably wouldn't be any large additions for another five years after). The CF acquisition of KI and the others might not make it feasible now. But other than that it wouldn't be idiotic if they hadn't taken on the debt that they have in the recent years from the other parks.
It wouldn't be some on the fly decision; it would be well thought out and planned for 5, maybe even 10 years.

How is it crazy? It's a top park that hasn't put in a coaster since 2007. It would be huge and a little extreme but not so crazy that it couldn't be done. Not saying it will happen but it certainly could.
Cedar Point most likely would not see a substantial increase in attendance if they were to add 2 roller coasters in a year instead of 1. The idea to me just seems like mindless spending (aka Six Flags and CP 2002-03).
I hate to beat a dead horse but it's too crazy for Cedar Point. The reason it hasn't built a roller coaster in five years is because there tring to attract more families and survive without building record-breaking coasters. Cedar Point will always add new roller coasters but there has never been more then one roller coaster built in one year and there never will be. The drive for Cedar Fair is to appeal to a larger amount of guests. Not to mention, some teenagers are very inmature.
The reason 300 and 400 foot coasters, and rides like Wicked Twister, were built in a short time span probably had to do with the way Six Flags ramped up SFWoA during that time. SFWoA was designed to compete with CP, and there was no way Kinzel would lose market share to Six Flags. I doubt we will see anything like it again.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
It makes me wonder if we would even have Millenniun, Wicked Twister and TTD if it wasn't for SFWoA. I think we would have millennium but we probly would have seen TTD a little bit later and not so close to Millennnium.

My family goes to Cedar Point for a family experience. Building more coasters does not fill that gap. The gap fillers are dark rides, less costly family fun games, shows themed after todays trends in kids entertainment. Cedar Point and related parks offer very little to fill in the gap between generations. ....kind of off topic...sorry. But DT kind of fills that gap for now because it really isn't a thrill ride by today's standards.

Haha my bad, I went ahead and fixed that :)

Awesome. So we are going to have a bunch of kids sitting on a stage ignoring everyone while they play with their Iphone;)
What are you guys referring to with the kids? Just curious. By the way I wanted to comment on the lack of roller coasters that we haven't seen in the last 5 years. Even though we haven't seen record breaking roller coasters since Maverick(2007), it's still great to come to Cedar Point because people come from all over just to see what this park has to offer! Cedar Point has been making small changes lately such as like you guys said, bringing in more families and keeping them close to home. Yes the price has gone up, but what hasn't gone up in price lately.

Adding two (or even more coasters) in a single year seems like a great idea to me! One's bound to have enough up time to satisfy the people that show up and are mad because they can only look at the attraction due to functional issues that prevent a solid opening.
Of course, the cost could be greatly reduced by playing the shell game (as they have in the past) by pawning off relocated rides as "New for 201x".
But most importantly, they can only do the boilerplate approach of drop towers and dino's for everyone for so long - because all of the parks begin to look the same.
In comparison to Disney, all of their parks have similar attractions (castles, mountains, & mainstreets) - but at least they differentiate each location so that they aren't identical.
Hopefully, the new management will realize that the execution of their plans are as important as their profit, hype, and family attractiveness the shareholders are told is the plan. With the competition pretty much gone, CF has to get the product to market on time without glitches. They cant be like the car companies of the 70's and 80's that produced flawed products that were simply bigger or faster.
