Plus Size Riders - Smaller Rollercoasters and Other Rides

There are a lot of posts for plus size rider's fitting into the big coasters. Last year I rode the rides at King's Island and Six Flags Great America with no problem but it seems Cedar Point is a bit more restrictive. I wear a size 18/20 pant so I know that TTD and Millennium Force are questionable. Does anyone have guidance on size restrictions for some of the smaller coasters and rides:

-Blue Streak
-Mean Streak
-Gemini
-Woodstock Express
-Cedar Creek Mine
-Wind Seeker
-maxAir
-GateKeeper (X-Flight at Six Flags OK)

Are there any of the flat rides or water rides that I should watch out for?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I've never ridden it myself (I'm sure my plush tushy would not fit) but I've heard Maverick is a tight squeeze for some.

Some people have also mentioned Raptor and Magnum being tight, as well as Mantis.

My recommendation is, if you don't know if you'll fit (pants size isn't a factor because some people wear their weight differently, plus, some can bend their legs under the seat enough to click the belt (had a ride op mention this on Mine Ride a few years back or suck in enough) for the rides with testers, try it out.

I'm a big guy, 5'9", 285 lbs, 44" waste, large full-size spare tire, and some decent sized moobs (lol) and I can give you a run down of what I was able to ride a few weeks ago. Sadly, none of the B&Ms. GateKeeper was out, even in the 4th row big guy seats. I only attempted the test seats on Raptor and Mantis as to avoid the walk of shame. I risked it on GateKeeper but even with a friendly ride-op trying to squish me in the seat-belt had about 1.5 inches to go. Going on, MaxAir, Millennium Force, and Wicked Twister were no goes. Mineride was a hideously tight fit but the rest were fine and I was thrilled maverick was fat guy friendly. I would have had no problem with SkyHawk had it been open when I was there. I had a blast but I missed riding two great coasters that I'd ridden before and was disappointed I couldn't enjoy them again (for now), not to even mention GateKeeper :-( Anyways, I've got a great new goal for this summer! Hope this info helps.

First Coaster: Matterhorn Bob Sleds
Favorite Ride: Blue Streak

For reference... I am 6'6" and around 255lbs and have no issues at all with any of CP's rides... If anything, Cedar Creek Mine Ride is the worst just because of my legs :)

It really depends where your weight is on your body more than anything. I have seen people that I think would easily fit not be able to ride MF or Dragster... And those who I think have no chance ride just fine. The biggest issue is the thigh/hip area, for sure. I have something like a 38-40 waist and my legs are quite muscular for the most part and leaner, so that may be why I don't have much issue.

I went about 4-5 weeks after I had my son last year and I rode almost all the rides you listed the one 2 I had issues with was wicked twister and cedar creek mine ride and my hips were really wide at that time and I'm not small to begin with but maverick and milli I had no probs the mine ride was due to the lap bar working for your whole car not just your seat

What's Life If You Never Get To The POINT?...see yall in line!

^Too bad that losing punctuation doesn't make it easier to fit on the rides.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

270ish, 6' 1", 40"ish waist, most of my weight in thighs.

In thin basketball shorts with empty pockets I can fit both MF and TTD. That was the biggest shock this year. In my normal khaki cargo shorts, I'm not even close. Thinness of material counts!

Blue Streak is a difficult fit because the seat belt is short and it's hard to extend the seat belt, sit, and buckle it without it getting caught somewhere. Mean Streak does not have this problem.

No problems with Gemini or Magnum (similar trains).

Cedar Creek Mine Ride: I thought it would be questionable this year but there was more room than I was expecting. It was tight but not to the point of pain. Cross your legs to give yourself more room.

maXair isn't a problem.

Gatekeeper is the wild card. Row 4 ("Big Boy Seats") isn't a problem. I fit the black belt on the test seat (what I'm assuming is the normal size belt/the belt on X-Flight) but I'm about 1-for-5 on the actual ride. Depends on if you get a ride op who will really push it down or not. They wouldn't/couldn't get it on media day but I managed on Row 2 in late May. Your results may vary.

The one ride I cannot do this year: Wicked Twister. The belt on the test seat has a good 2 inches to go to fasten. However, the test seat is missing the buckle that is closer to the edge of the seat. Decided to risk it on the actual train and while the buckle and seat belt touched, they wouldn't click. No go.

Hope this helps.

I have noted a lot of people saying that the thickness of the pants matter, I am curious though if it is not the thickness of the material but the style of the clothing. For example if a woman in particular wears jeans there isnt much room for- bulk if you will- to move and spread out where as in gym shorts it can move and squish where need be! Does that make sense, it has more room to distribute. Like on rides that have the seat divider in between ones legs, the looser clothing allows for more room than restrictive or fitted jeans.

That's why people wear super duper uber tight yoga pants :) less space and fabric to compact in ride seats once ride ops check them and yank on the seatbelts.

I'm a 300lb. guy and 6'2 with a size 48 waist and bigger shoulders, two years ago I visit cedar point for the first time in 2011, wouldn't fit on wicked twister, the side safety belt was to short for my shoulders, top thrill dragster is a very hard fit with thim shorts but almost got it to click in with a 48 size waist, very close to fit on wicked twister, but fit on raptor in the test seat, I wear an steel stretch shirts or muscle shirt and it was a pinch tight on raptor but got in. I wonder that a larger guest can still fit on Raptor with a one seatbelt that is kinda longer. I thought that I couldn't fit on Raptor test seats, but it did. the tips are put the seatbelt to you abdonomin, that the harness with your left hand, and used two thumbs to click the seatbelt in. The rides that I can fit with a 300lb body are:

Blue streak- bit of squeeze

Corkscrew- squash in

Mean Streak- not as tight

Maverick-lot of room

Mantis- had to squat down to get the seatbelt into place and stand up afterwards.

Raptor- seats are a pinch tight, harness did fit over my shoulders with under armor tight shirts, able to get the single seatbelt in. Very friendly ride op helped.

Power Tower-plenty of room

Mangum XL 200- able to fastened the seatbelt which they short.

MaXair- Lots of room.

This year, I'll tried the gatekeeper, and return on the raptor.

Hey I'm a big guy 5'11" over 300lbs with a 42in weight size, most of my weights in my stomach and thighs, a good amounts muscle, sort of, but a good amount of its not, about an even split, if it matters. And I fit on a good amount of rides last year when I went, still the same size, probably a little leaner now. None of the big ones though, not that I didn't fit, just didn't have time to ride them. The only one that I couldn't ride was the Mine Ride, just because my legs couldn't fit on one side of the bar, if I could have straddled the bar I could have fit easy, but they didn't let me. Kind of made me made but not a big deal.

Here's a list of all the rides I rode last year. Just coasters, also rode some of the smaller rides, but can't remember which ones.

Blue Streak, plenty of room from what I can remember.

Gemini, maybe a little tight but still good.

Iron Dragon, plenty of room. The most comfortable seat for me at least, I wish they were all like that.

Magnum, good too, seat belt was a little tight though.

Meant Streak, really tight for me, almost too the point of being painful, really uncomfortable, not bad once it actually got moving, though. Really not sure why it was so tight, since it doesn't seem like everyone else has as much trouble.

Hoping to ride most of not all of them this year. The one I really want to ride is Millennium Force. So do you guys think I will fit on it, with my height, weight, and past experience? I was hoping it wouldn't be bad, but from reading on here and what you guys have said it seems like the Millennium's seats are tight. Now you guys got me worried...

Jon54 it does vary from person to person as we all can tell you, but from your description of waist size and statement that you carry weight in the thighs it does sound like you will have trouble with TTD and MF; WT, Raptor and Mantis may be an issue as well even though they have OTSR. The big boy seats of Gatekeeper and the regular seats of Maverick should be okay for you. I could of course be wrong and I hope you can ride- try the test seats. Best of luck.

Corkscrew, Power Tower, Magnum, & Monster/ Witches Wheel Crew 2011

I was wearing heavy cargo shorts June 17th and 18th, shoot, I might have made the MF........

I am 5'10", 270, 42" waist, large chest and shoulders, large spare tire, no love handles.

I read enough here to go straight to Row 4 on the GK, rode 4 times no issue.

Blue Streak, no issues

Magnum, Maverick, Corkscrew, Power Tower, no issues.

Mine Ride......whoa, cross my ankles and put my feet back to get wedged in, ouch, but I rode.

Raptor.......I have been heavier in the past and got on, 2013, no go.

TTD - test seat, 2 inches short, didn't bather.

MF - test seat " Just make the metal touch, you'll be good". Still an inch away, but heavy material, sigh....

Did an employee tell you that? Makes you wonder if that does give more evidence that the belts on the actual ride are longer. It would make sense that they make the test belts a little different to weed out those who are borderline but also a little dissapointing if that is the case that some people would miss out...

Yes, the height tester fella said that Tuesday June 18. Since it was an inch from even touching, I passed on the wait.

I was at Halloweekends in 2011 and the tester watched me on the test seat and said something similar, and was correct, I rode in 2011 at roughly the same size.

No biggie either way, I'd rather not have waited 2 days ago and been disappointed ( 2 non-riders) and waste everyone's time.

I will say in my experiences with CP and being a fat dude that some ride op's put their back into getting us large folk into the ride more than other, or at least know the tricks to make the weight shift to snap the belts. I am saying this neutrally as I can see it both ways, I know how hard those ride op's work, and it's up to me to drop 20+ pounds so it's a non-issue.

Some rides weight and waist's can be managed. On Super that seatbelt can work if the person is a bit...for lack of better words & using the terminology we used...squishy. However rides like power tower just don't work well with that seatbelt & that restraint already crams you in enough. Every ride is different and every body is different. Some cases just won't work period, but some will with some wiggle room and determination ;)

Corkscrew, Power Tower, Magnum, & Monster/ Witches Wheel Crew 2011

I was there the year the Wicked Twister was new, and was pretty much the same size I am now. I had ridden it twice that day, and was on for a 3rd ride and experienced difficulty getting buckled. The ride op immediately booted me. We jumped back in line, got a different seat, and a different ride op worked with me ( I believe it was "lift your arms") and we were off.

I appreciated the effort from the second ride op, just a simple and quick solution. I never argue when I am booted, as I know how hard the op's work, but some try a bit harder to get me on.

I got booted 2 days ago from the Raptor, and that poor ride op tried her best, kudos to her. That was an eye opener, as I have never had issues on the Raptor.

We were told the same thing at Dragster's test seat, that the test seat belt was about half an inch to an inch shorter than what's on the train. I suppose it's a good idea to have your test seat be the "worst case scenario" so you don't end up with people making the test seat and not making the actual train.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

So its been a good 5 years since I've been to cp. I've gained a lot of weight in those years. I'm a college football player so most of my weight is muscle but alot of that muscle is in thighs. I weigh about 290 but people say I look 250, a small gut and really big thighs. Was wondering if u guys think I'd be good for everthying. I was recently at six flags great america where I was able to ride everything, although x-flight (gatekeeper) and v2 (wicked twister) were kinda tight and the ride op had to push a little bit. I am fine without riding these 2 since I have ridden their sibling coasters many times this summer already. I really just want to be able to ride top thrill and millennium those being my 2 all time favorites, then mantis and maverick coming after. Any comments are appretiated.
