PKI vs. CP

Jeff's avatar

The Beast runs faster now than it ever has because of the different braking. It's not anymore "jerky" than it ever has been. Besides, I thought you never went to that park anymore?

Magnum is the same as it has always been, or at least since the reprofiling. The first drop is a lot smoother too with the rail replacement.

I have already posted that I went there last year.I think that is recent enough. It is rougher as are the two in CP that I mentioned.I dont like rought coasters so I notice that.Im not alone in this assesment.Other people in my group,of different ages BTW, have noticed it too.

As far as the Magnum goes, the roughness seems to be in the turns and the Mean Streak has always been rough, but last year,it was more than this old body could tolerate. On the other hand,I found the Millenium super smooth and a joy to ride.I am convinced that as rides get older, they do get rougher.I go way back to my first coaster ride, the Silver Streak at Riverview park in Chicago. That was in 1947.

Ive have ridden the Beast in 1988,89,91,92 and in 2005.It has changed, without a doubt. Please dont quote me engineering statistics. If it feels rougher,it is.

Yeah RaptorQueen. It was most likely a joke. I had a Six Flags hat one time at Sea World (When it was still there.) and one of the guys working the 4-D pirate show told me i couldnt have it on seeing that it was the "competion" from across the lake. I told him I would take it off for some free Sea World gear. No go on his part.

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

That's funny. I went to PKI this year and thought that the Beast was smoother than it's ever been. I rode it when I was younger and it gave me a headache. Haven't had that happen in years. Is it possible that you just cannot take it like you once could? My dad went with me last year and he had rode the Beast years ago, no problem. Now that he is much older, he just can't take the ride like he used to be able to do.

CP is a better park imo for two to three reasons, more like 4 actually :P

1. CP has 4 coasters over 200 feet, PKI has one, and it sucks.

2. CP has a stand up coaster, PKI use to, they dont anymore.

3. CP has a inverted coaster, PKI does not, well they do, but it is a kiddie coaster. and face off is a shuttle.

4. PKI seems to have more kiddie rides than CP, great for kids, bad for thrill addicts.

PKI has better woodies, but CP has better steel coasters, and they have higher quality. PKI really needs to make a nice hyper coaster, and stay away from wood :P

Nothing wrong with a good wooden coaster. I wish Cedar Point would get away from the steel and make another woodie.

Coaster Fury,I have consider that possibility, but some young people that were with me thought the same thing. Its possible however that coasters are rougher on some days than others.Im sure the weather, humidity and temperature affect everything on coasters.

Personally, I think its kinda funny that they advertise "The Only Wooden Coaster with a LOOP!" when the supports of the loop are steel. Yes the track is wood but since the wooden coaster has steel in it, doesnt seem like its a Totally wooden coaster.

Best RollerCoaster in the World = Millenium Force

When I was there a couple of weeks ago, Beast was extremely rough - to the point that I think I pulled something in my back. It was much rougher than I remember it being last year. Could have been the seat that I was in, who knows...

When it comes to the Beast, the length of the ride wasn't that impressive to me. Though it is rough, I didn't mind it at all. It's the steel roller coaster with the four loops that kills the hell out of my neck.

I agree with you Vince, I would like to see a Wooden Coaster at Cedar Point, hopefully one with thrill and originality without focusing on breaking records.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

The pictures I've seen of Beast and Son of Beast look absolutely amazing. I really want to go there one day and ride them because I love the wooden coasters.

i really wouldnt mind a nice long woodie (can that sound anymore perverted?)

it be cool if the made a dueling CCI or GG woodie with the longest track length for dueling woodies. id enjoy that, it be head chopper galore!

Seeing as how CCI doesn't exist and went bankrupt, and their four core engineers formed The Gravity Group, CCI won't be building anything.

I have been to CP once in 2003 and PKI countless times (it is my home park) and I had a much greater time at Cedar Point than any of my times at PKI. PKI's coasters are good but they can't even compare to Millennium Force or Raptor, and if I had gotten the chance to ride Dragster, I'm sure I would think it is better than all PKI's coasters. PKI is better for kids and has a better waterpark but seriously lacks in the new high tech thrills, and I think it is time to give the thrill seekers a new roller coaster. If PKI could just get one Intamin or B&M coaster (they are one of the last major parks to not have one) they would be an unstoppable force in the thrill park world, and Cedar Point already is.
