PKI vs. CP

You havent quoted anything except post a link to the TOS. All you have done is BS post in the forum trying to tell me what to do, instead of maybe talking to a Mod or Jeff since you have no authority.

Would be good of you to actually post the specific rule that I violated since noone important has said anything to me and I havent found a rule I've viloated after reading the TOS several times and even ASKED you in AIM what your problem was.

Since this is the only thing you seemed to say about a "rule I've violated" in our AIM conversation, if there's a problem with the term "versus", then we can change it to "Opinions" or whatever is suitable.

Who exactly "called you to task"? Are you the new Mod? Every post I've ever read from you has been something negative or shooting down another person for stating an opinion. You'd think a 44 year old would have better use of his time, like a family or a job.

Sorry for everyone else that reads this, my apologies. I just didn't get a good vibe because on my very first post, my first reply is telling me I need to read the TOS, like I've broken some major law. Then when I inquire about it to the poster, I get a slap in the face & smart aleck (sp?) comments by a disgruntled 44 year old man with no life, instead of an answer on what I could do to correct the problem.

If there's a problem, I'm not a mind reader, sorry I dont have those capabilities, so all you have to do is message me and let me know, instead of acting like a smart aleck.

I really have no problem with your post being there, but after being "called to task" or seeing others do the same, I felt it needed to be brought up.

And time and time again you feel the need to bring it up when you are seemingly in no position to do so.

But anyway, PKI is one of my favorite parks in the country. I was there last year and it was such an improvement from my trip 5 years ago. Like Jeff said, things have greatly improved at the park. Is it in Cedar Point's league with regards to operations? I doubt it, but it's definately above the majority of parks in the country.

Carpy: here's the bit we're talking about. If you need it quoted rather than referred to, here you go:

4. Unacceptable topics of discussion:
The Coasterbuzz forums are dedicated to foster the discussions of roller coasters and the amusement park industry. Sometimes topics are brought up that are not in anyway related this. These topics are deleted, because there are other places on the Internet to discuss these off-topic subjects. We don't talk about world peace or curing cancer here, we talk about coasters (unless of course the peace or cancer is related to coasters). If you choose to talk about something not related to the subject matter of the forums, there are plenty of other sites on the Internet that will satisfy your needs. Examples of other unacceptable topics are those that lack merit (a 700 foot tall coaster with 19 inversions is being built at…), topics that have been brought up numerous times in the past (Cedar Point is running out of room… Superman: the Escape is not a coaster…), constant speculation about what [your park here] is going to get next year, questions that have no real answers (what are crowds like at... what will that park build...) and threads that contain best... favorite... top 10... worst... versus... most... are simply not interesting to read by anyone other than the person who started the topic. Don’t be surprised if these get closed or deleted as well. If your topic has any word ending in "-est," think twice about posting it. We also dislike anything along the lines of "first post" or an announcement about the number of posts you've made. It's not the quantity, it's the quality that counts.

I guess I don't see how you can read that and still think that a "PKI suxors and CP roxors" thread is anything other than wrong.

And MrScott: it was pretty obvious that Jeff was snarking in our direction. Some days, it seems to be appreciated if "the community" self-polices. Other days, it's not. I can't figure out which days are which, so I do what seems right at the time, and try not to go overboard, though new users tend to get less slack from me because they often haven't cottoned on to the local culture. Jeff can snark at me or toss me if he wants. His site, his rules. Doesn't matter much to me; I get my validation elsewhere.

Well hey, I do appreciate you at least pointing the exact rule out to me and like I said before, if the term "versus" needs to be changed, by all means change it to "Opinions".

This isnt a PKI "suxors", CP rocks thread. I'm talking about my experience there and how I felt and was wondering if others felt the same way or differently. PKI is still a great park with some good rides, so by no means am I saying PKI "suxors".

But hey, I DO appreciate you pointing it out to me and attempting to help, which is very different from another vibe I received from another member.

When I went to PKI, the employees were pretty good and helpful.. What I didn't like, was that they were telling me I coudn't wear my CP shirt there. I told them that this was my first trip there, don't ruin it. Then I went to a t-shirt shop and was told again, I couldn't wear my CP shirt. I told the guy, "gee, why do you think I am here now"? duh!

I liked Italian Job the best at the park. I will never ride Beast or Son of Beast ever again.

Delirium has nothing on MaXair.

Would I go again? If I was in the area only, I wouldn't make a special trip for it. As an American Coaster Enthusiast, I got half price admission and got to go in early (we were the first to ride Italian Job, kinda like a Joe Cool deal). That factor and the fact I was in Columbus the day before were the only reasons I went to PKI that day.

From time to time it's OK for a topic like this if it's not someone showing up and being a moron. The point is that if you're not a moderator and choose to make a scene, it's not appreciated.

I consider PKI different... not better or worse than Cedar Point. I will say that (speaking of merchandise) that there's a lot more value to be found in terms of merchandise and food than at CP. The Italian Job Stunt Track shirt I got was ten bucks, it's trendy like something from Old Navy, and it's not some generic design. I really wish CP would see that and take notice. I think they'd move a lot more units.

Raptorqueen- what do you mean that Delirium has nothing on maXair? They are both the exact same rides. I hope I am interpreting you wrong, but Delirium offers the exact same ride experience that maXair does. Delirium has been down for over a month though, so I guess that does put maXair ahead by a little.

I think that's kind of dumb them telling you that you couldn't wear your CP t-shirt there. That's like an Old Navy employee telling you that you can't wear your Adidas t-shirt in their store.

maXair apparently has a longer ride cycle, and does more swings. A couple of people at CP's media day had been on Delirium the previous weekend and indicated that, but sadly, when I got to PKI Delirium was closed with the broken gear.

i was told on media day that maxair has more constant swings than delirium

maXair TL '05 (Fired for writing on a door with a dry erase marker....kinda stupid if you ask me)
WildCat ATL '04
WildCat Crew '03

"I'd rather be a PUSSY than a DRAGON!"

I have heard that also, but with PKI as my home park,(I visit over 15 times per year) I am pretty sure that the ride cycles are the same. Granted I have not ridden Delirium yet this year, but I did ride it quite a few times in '03 and '04. I think maXair may give the riders one more "big" swing than Delirium, so I guess that does put it ahead by a bit. Wether there is a difference or not, they are both great, succesful, crowd-pleasing rides. (or at least it seems that way)

On PKI's Media Day for Delirium; I'm pretty sure it was a definate longer ride time than what it is now. I don't see how you can compare a special event ride to a non-special event ride. Perhaps CP had it going longer on Media Day since the demand wasn't higher and it has since changed?

Raptorqueen...I highly doubt that anyone at PKI told you that you needed to change your shirt since it was from Cedar Point. I see people walking around everytime I'm in the park with shirts from different parks on. It had to have been a joke if they told you that.

This is a Cedar Point fansite! If you went to a PKI fansite and asked this; it would be the exact opposite. It's two completely different parks; and I just can't think you can fairly compare the two. Cedar Point prides itself on having the biggest and fastest and most technologically advanced; while PKI prides itself on being the best family park on the planet with plenty of rides for everyone.

The program is what it is... it doesn't change. There's no conspiracy.

Yeah, they are two different parks, and that's not a bad thing. Variety is what makes life fun. We went to PKI last week on our way home from CP and had a great time. I loved Italian Job! CP certainly doesn't have anything like that in the park, so it was a nice change of pace. It was a bummer that Delerium was down, but that's life.

One thing I really like about PKI is the general atmosphere (fountains, lots of trees, flowers, etc.). As Jeff mentioned, the food choices are pretty decent also. I wish my home park (SFOG) had anything even resembling the food selections that PKI has.

Anyway, I like both parks for the unique offerings that they provide. If you can afford to and have the time to hit both, I recommend it.

:)

I never said there was a conspiracy; I just stated what my experience was at PKI so maybe it was the same as maXair.

Even if the PKI employees were joking around with her, the joke still gets old after you hear it from every employee you come across. I've had this happen to me a few times at other parks, and believe me it can still dampen your mood even if they are joking.

I went to PKI last year and I absolutely loved the park. It was before Maxair and they made a big deal about their Giant Huss Ride. The ride is more exciting when you are waiting in the queu line with the televisions. It makes the ride seem more important, I honestly believe that it enhanced my ride experience. Unless it was because I was riding it when it was dark. But I love Son of the Beast. I expected the rough ride and the size fo the roller coaster at night with the lights is breath taking.

But there is a big difference in the parks, PKI doesn't have the big 3 Intamin rides, and Cedar Points mean streak is great, but not close to Son of the Beast. Though they don't offer as much thrilling rollercoasters, they do have a water park as one of your options. High speed indoor rollercoaster.

Ohio is lucky to have these two gerat parks, Geagu Lake I haven't been to, but it doesn't look bad at all.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

I work at PKI. I've seen many people were CP shirts. I walk up to them and ask them about were do they live or something like that. I've seen the Street sign coaster shirt, TTD black shirt. I work in Ecologe. *** Edited 7/8/2005 11:58:25 PM UTC by daniel smith***

I don't think I had stated that I was told I had to "change" my shirt. I was told "I couldn't wear it". If I had to change my shirt, I would have left the park and the park would have gotton a nasty gram. I did see some other t-shirts guests wore at the park that were offensive to me, wonder what was said about those t-shirts?

The first admission person did try to cover up her comment with "oh, I really like CP."

No one at Six Flags Magic Mountain said anything about my SF Ohio shirt. HA HA

MaXair does swing more and higher (or it used to) and my friend just experienced MaXair for the first time and stated even with the slower speed, MaXair was different and more intense than Delirium. A few years difference between the two rides gives MaXair the better edge, Huss has had time to make it better..

The Beast used to be a great ride, but you are right, its very jerky now.Maybe as rides get older they get rougher.Ive noticed that the Magnum is much rougher now as is the Mean Streak.
