PKI vs. CP

Just curious about the feedback I'll get with this topic..

Every year ever since my girlfriend and I started dating (3 years now) we have made it a tradition of visiting CP at least once every summer. Last year ('04) we decided to check out PKI before we went to CP since it was only a couple hours away. I'm soooo glad we still went to CP, otherwise it would've been a wasted trip.

When I went to PKI, it almost felt like a wanna-be CP. The Beast is the Tallest & Fastest Wooden Coaster (correct me if I'm wrong, pretty sure that what they said) and it was horrible. Probably the jerkiest ride I've been on and it didnt even feel like it went fast.

Our favorite ride in that entire park was the free-fall drop, which still didn't compare to Power Tower. We rode Top-Gun which was ok, but we only liked it because it was the only ride that didnt make us feel like our brain was going to fall out of our ears.

But, the next day when we went to CP, the rides felt SOOO smooth especially after riding those ones at PKI.

Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience or even if you totally disagree with me?

Better read the TOS: http://www.pointbuzz.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=14492

Already have thanks.

Any feedback from anyone?

I have to say that you have been spoiled by Cedar Point. With PKI as my home park, I know that many of the rides are rough, but they are still fun. When I go to Cedar Point, (which is only once a year......) the rides all seem very smooth compared to Son of Beast, The Beast, etc.

*And the Son of Beast is the tallest and fastest woodie in the world, not the Beast. The Beast was when it opened in '79, but not anymore.

The Beast is gonna be a wee bit jerky seeing that it IS a woodie. and an old one at that. It does sound like you have been CP spoiled. Just remember... not every park is number one in the world.

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

lol I think you guys are right, CP must have spoiled me. Its probably the only place I go where I love every single coaster. Since I'm all the way in Tennessee I can only go once a year too :( Trying to work it into the budget to go twice but we'll have to see.

Thanks for the feedback!

PKI is a great park. The additions the last few years have been awesome. Operationally they've really started to get it together, and the food has improved the last five years as well. It's a beautiful park. I say go, enjoy yourself.

You really can't compare the two parks. I like them both, and they each offer a different variety of entertainment that isn't the same.

Yes some of the coasters at PKI can get rough. My fav coaster there is the Beast. It is such a big, mean animal. I was a little up set when they toke down the Lazy Taxi's. I wish that other park's like PKI and CP would do what Hoilday World does with there, free unlimited soft drinks.

Wow, that's awesome, didn't know that. It says they also have free parking, sunscreen, and inner tubes (at Splashin' Safari).

I've never been to PKI, so the closest thing I have to go by is Carowinds. Paramount is my second favorite chain, behind Cedar Fair. I just like the atmosphere at PC, not to mention a few good coasters. I'm assuming PKI is probably better than PC, so I'm guessing it's up there with CP (but not beating it of course).

I've only ever been to 3 amusement parks: Cedar Point, Paramount Canada's Wonderland, and Boblo Island (I was 4, I don't remember much). Wonderland was the first park I ever went to and I LOVED IT!! After going there a few times I was introduced to Cedar Point and man, did it ever spoil me. I went to PCW last August and it didn't compare to Cedar Point. Don't get me wrong, it's a great park and I enjoy it very much but Cedar Point has won my heart. If I had the choice to visit any park other than Cedar Point, I would choose PKI because I think it looks like a great park.

Yep Hoilday World has unlimited soft drinks (Pepsi products)all over the park at little red house's. Free sunscreen at the Splashin' Safair with free inner tubs. But at there to wave pools inner tube's are not allowed. Something happen there in '04.

It's easy for a tube to flip over in a wave pool in more shallow water. That's not a good thing in a concrete pool when you have a soft head.

Yes Im glad they did that. Beause those waves are around 3 feet spikeing tall.

When i went there yesterday (pki) the lines were outrageos!! The line for ijst was 2hrs!! The line for the beast was 1hr. After i got off the beast i felt like i had been beaten up! Son of beast was even worse!! The employees are careless too. They will screw around and talk for 5 min. before checking the harnesses. Oh yea, I forgot to say that delirium was down the whole day and it is waiting for a part from germany. it has been down the past month. I cant wait to go back to CP in late Aug. for some smoother rides. CP beats pki by a long shot!

You may have read it, but either you didn't understand it or you chose to ignore it.

I'm pretty sure we haven't "hired" any additional moderators lately.

Which poster are you refering to, Jeff? I pointed out that he/she was violating your TOS and MrNoble agreed. Just what is your problem with that? You wrote those rules, didn't you?

What exactly is your guys' problem? The thread is perfectly fine and I'm getting lots of opinions, which is what I wanted.

The only problem with it is yours and Noble's BS posts, Scott

Those are not "BS posts". I just qouted the TOS of this site, which you have blatently violated.

Do I really care? No. If I don't want to read a thread, I don't click on it.

I really have no problem with your post being there, but after being "called to task" or seeing others do the same, I felt it needed to be brought up.

There are 2 words that I could bring up that would probably get me a suspention by Jeff. Hence, I don't mention them.
