Perks Of The Job

Just curious as to everyone's favorite perk of the job. Something the everyday visitors can't experience.
My favorite perk is walking through the park before it is open to the general public (including early entry). It's so quiet and peaceful; you can just walk down the empty midways on the way to your location, taking in the silence and the beauty around you. It's very calming before a hectic day at work!

Well, the biggest perk, particularly if you live onpoint, is that your backyard is the greatest amuesment park in the world and you have access to agruably the best beach on Lake Erie.
Perks??? Where do you start? Can you say D-R-U-N-K-E-N D-E-B-A-U-C-H-U-R-Y ????? Fellowship, freinds, hard work, memories albiet abit hazy, the worlds greatest amusement park (even in 1980!), Just like college without the the classes

Just like college without the classes. Is that what you meant? Yes, in certain aspects of my life Cedar Point was the prime time!

I'll have to agree with Lee plus add in the walk though the empty park at night with all the lights shining on all the coaster and rides.

Can we say "Ride Nights?" what about... "Free Park Privlages"? should I go on? I think not.

some of the perks that the public doesnt see- friends, the parties, access to cp, knowing what does go on behind the sceens, being in that HUGE park alone (so to speak), and TEST RIDES! :)

The cheap food is great, even though it gets old after awhile. Getting to be in the park before and after its open, ride nights, movie nights on the lazer screen, getting to ride each Millennium train 10 times in a row in May everyday before it opened, and being able to go behind the sceens where guest are not alowed.

I never really walked around much...I think the proper phrase is "stagger"..I am sure you read my rather poorly written "book" about some of my point experiences. Every word of that diatribe is true.

My buddy Ray B. really did leave his zipper undone so the animals could see his ding-a-ling. My freind Mike H. really could qualify for the "Bronze Kleenex Box" award along with "The Elbow/Hand of Iron", as he really got a grip on himself (which in my mind was "manly") because he looked at really nasty pics of FEMALES!

The best perks are the lifelong memories of the freinds and especially the morons that one crosses paths with!!!!

Sorry Cheif I really like some of your posts as the are well thought out and all....The above seems like contradiction in terms..I am old enough to remember the bumper stickers
that proudly proclaimed "LAKE ERIE IS NOT DEAD"

I also remember all of the dead fish and soap suds that would wash ashore in the late 1960's. Heck who needed a washer when you had Erie?

Being able to be in the park at four AM, it's so quite and creepy. Plus getting to MF before all the geusts so that you could ride front without having to wait.

How could I forget many a morning (especaially in 2000 when the line was still 4 + hours) waiting in line for Millennium Force before the gates open and seeing ALL of those people running towards it just in that slight ray of hope they would be the first rider.

Speaking of the running of the bulls. It was always fun to be standing at the Raptor entrance when they passed by. Sadly they weren't as 'bull-like' as in '00 and '01.

A great perk (for some people anyway) was learning the working of some of the rides. I learned more about my Raptor this summer then I ever could have imagined. Did you know the Raptor seats have 8 locking positions?

99er, good call on the laser show movies. Gladiator on it last season was something else.

The people and the friendships have to be my favorite perk. I've never met a more accepting group that is just there for you whenever you need them.

Ride nights are always fun. And there's nothing like access to the water park on a swealtering day.

And I agree with walking through the park before the guests arrive. Its like the calm before the storm, me time. That had to have been one of my favorite moments. My first year I walked around in awe, "You mean, I'm actually a part of this??" It was great.

The best thing about my job is getting a chance to work and play with animals all day.

Working in the park during pre-season, and post season and not having to wear uniforms. I enjoy watching the park clean up from winter and come alive for the new season, and it's also a blast to watch all the halloweekends things being set up.

why spend $3 bucks on a pop when you can pay .35 cents for a can or .85 cents for a refillable cup.

Have to agree with the whole walking around the park both before opening and after closing...very calming. But I think my favorite perk is arriving for check-in the first day. It feels kinda like coming home again, wierd but true, and seeing all those faces you haven't seen for months....gonna really miss that.

kjetski,

Lake Erie is one of the most successful rehabilitated lakes in the world. It's health is evident in the great fishing, the annual return of the muffleheads and mayflies, and a host of other examples.

The Cedar Point beach is one of the best on Lake Erie or any of the Great Lakes for that matter.
