Pepsi or Coke for Paramount Parks?

They'll go with whoever supplies it for free.

The Geauga Lake deal was different. The contract for Coke was with Six Flags, and Cedar Fair did not buy Six Flags. They bought a park from them. The Paramount Parks are different, in that they bought an entire company, with a whole lot of agreements for all kinds of things in place.

I know they get it at a good price.. but free? seriously?

It all depends on how the contract was arranged in the purchase of Paramount. Normally, all existing contracts are considered null and void when new ownership purchases a property, unless their is a clause in place to specifically honor a contract.

I would guess that the Pepsi contract may have a clause in it to automatically become the soft drink of any new properties for Cedar Fair. That's just a guess.

I would also guess that when the Pepsi contract comes up for renewal that Coke will be given an opportunity to bid and that some competition may ensue.

There are 2 types of computer users in the world; those that back up often, and those that have never had a hard drive fail.

What happens depends on what is written in the contracts between the companies. They are not public information so only time will tell.

While what Jeff says is true, I think that there would be more trouble for Cedar Fair if they do not convert the Paramount parks. This is a time of reorganizing the Paramount parks. I think Cedar Fair will have to reassign the contracts outside of those they have acquired during this purchase.

If the contracts in place does not apply to Cedar Fair's acquisitions, then Coke may be the product that is used at the Paramount parks. I am more likely to believe that Cedar Fair's contract with Pepsi will supersede Coke's contract with the Paramount parks.

Again, what matters is the expressed or implied conditions of the contracts for both companies.

Usually companies will provide the product for free in exchange for advertising. Cups, ride sponsor, park maps, etc...

I always thought it was funny that Fridays at Castaway was Coke and the one at Breakers was Pepsi! I didn't go to either one this season to see if anything changed. Anyone else?

It's true. A lot of parks get their soda for free. Even if you're not a big time establishment, Coke/Pepsi is usually more than happy to provide you with branded menus and a good price on syrup.

A good deal of fountain drinks you purchase (or don't, in my case) on a regular basis only costs around 1 to 1.5 cents per ounce, plus the cost of the cup.

What the boils down to is, even at a mall food establishment (non-chain) if you pay $2.00 for 32 oz Pepsi, there's still a profit of over $1.50 in it for them. My friend's business got 2 free menus, the fountain machine with hookups, and a coca-cola fridge with clear front door for stocking 20 Oz. bottles in, just for calling Coke and telling them that he was starting up a stand in the mall.

They will give this stuff out to anyone with a credible business, so what makes you think CP is paying for any of it?

The vending machines were free at Disney when I worked there - at least for the "corporate" cast members. They first had syrup mixing machines (very pimp), but then they switched them out with can vending machines later. Still free, so we didn't really care. The popcorn and soup and stuff were all free too. One of the many perks of working there. Some of my friends that worked in construction trailers at Animal Kingdom had free Starbucks machines.

I will drink Coke but ONLY Coke from a fountian. I hate the taste of Coke from a can or bottle......I dont know why.

I have that same taste!!! I can't explain the taste but coke in a can has that... i say it to a lot of people and they're like what are you talking about... but when i drink to much coke my stomach doesn't feel to good but with pepsi i don't get that bad taste or stomach cramps... They should just stay with Pepsi.

My preference is Coke, but I imagine that Pepsi will replace Coke since it seems to be the choice of drink for the CF chain.

When I drink soda(not to often), I drink pepsi or mountain dew.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Pepsi is more inclined to offer better prices. About 3 years ago Applebees switched from Coke to Pepsi. The reasoning was due to cost. According to the manager at our restaraunt Pepsi was 20% less in price and they could still charge the same menu price and people would buy because that was all that was available. Pepsi chooses to market differently than Coke. They are very good with quick market penetration through contract price.

I hope Cedar Point as along with the Cedar Fair parks, that both Pepsi and Coke go in the parks. Also I hope they drop the price a bit.

Then maybe they could get Club Cadet AND John Deere, as long as Kodak AND Fuji. Competition doesn't usually work that way.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Here's an even weider one- i like coke from the fountain from mcdonalds with those awesome Mcdonalds straws...

We out bought a restaurant here in town and they had a coke contract and we like pepsi. Well when the business sold the coke contract became void because we didnt buy the contract we bought the business. Pepsi offers free machines if you sell the product. But we have Minute Made Juices in our restaurant and they are from Coke. Plus the resturant across the street from us sell both coke and pepsi.

RIP MR.SCOTT The ONLY MAYOR OF LIGHTHOUSE

I honestly can't tell any difference between Coke and Pepsi. I know everyone else can tell but for some reason they just taste the same to me.

Pet peeve #427: It's not soda! If you were born or live in Ohio, it's 'pop'. Only city slickers from the East call it 'soda'. ;)
