I would love to see a woodie that weaves in and around frontier land. Something that doen't involve ripping all the trees out... There has been enough leveling going on. I like dragster and all, but it disapoints me that so many trees had to come out for it. Iron Dragon isn't the same ride anymore.

If not a woodie, than a 4-D. It doesn't have to be huge, it just needs to be good.

4-D's are out of the question right now I think. Still too new. I don't think CP likes the idea of of having to close a ride every Wednesday.

And the reason they would have to close the ride every Wednesday is? If it's because Six Flags Magic Mountain does it with X, don't they do it by choice? I don't remember S&S Arrow ever telling them they can't run it one day a week...

But they have to stop running it to maintain it because of how much maitenance it requires. I don't see CP shutting their new coaster down once a week to fix it. And if SF shuts down a ride once a week, CP might shut it down half the week. That's how crappy SF maitenance is.

Yea, but cedarpoint has a off season to work on the rides, magic mountain does not. It also has something to do with the lousy maitnance six flags has as well.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Have any of you been to SFMM? They have a floorless, 4D, Stand up, Invert, and it never gets boring. Magnum, then Millenium, then TTD. It is starting to get boring, we need some twisted metal track that goes upside down.

If you think it's boring then don't take up room in the queue lines. There isn't a single thing that is boring about TTD, MF, or Magnum because they are all excellent rides, my three favourites infact.

Yeah, and they are all the same. I will take up space in queue, because I love Roller Coasters. Just because I say something I like about another park that isn't CP does not mean you guys have to get defensive and say I shouldn't go. I will go whenever I damn well please, and yes, the whole big higher and higher thing is boring. Boring as hell. When I was at SFMM over spring break, geuss how many rides were closed. 1, Deja Vu was in rehab, Cedar Point puts all of there rides in rehab for the whole winter, that helps a little bit. I rode a hyper, a 4D, a floorless, an invert, a stand up and a wooden coaster, and it was a fun. All I said was I wish CP would start making some more of that type of ride, BM stuff. You can't tell me a hyper and giga and a strata all in the same park isn't going to get boring sooner or later. Please excuse my non fanboy point of view...

There's a big difference between a ride being in rehab (scheduled maintenance of 1-2 weeks) and said ride being SBNO (out of commission indefinitely). Obviously the general public would disagree with your agrument that taller rides are boring. Look at how popular Millennium Force when it was the tallest in the park...then look how popular Dragster is now.

Saying that CP has an maintenance advantage because it has an off-season is actually quite misguided. Seasonal maintenance at Cedar Point just stays on top of things better than SFMM's. Wouldn't you think that if the maintenance crews worked at a park all year that they would perform more efficiently?

Granted with the addition of Dragster the overall uptime of the park has fallen a bit, but prior to its installation the seasonal uptime was reported to be 96% for the whole summer. Six Flags couldn't even hope to touch this figure. To pass off their lack of uptime as a quirk of full time operation is just irresponsible. When a guest visits a park they should have the ability to experience everything they want and downtime is a big hinderance to this.

regardless, cedar fair has the name "The Patriot" trademarked as of Nov. 29 2004. according to the U.S. patent and trademark office.

Now that's what I like to hear. Actual evidence of something being in the works, whether it be patents or submissions to city officials for permit purposes.

Can you post a link to the Cedar Fair patent page?

Eeeenteresting... good find! :)

That's realllllllly great stuff. I don't quite understand what it is though. Looks like a receipt for merchandise... also a 'online newsletter' and 'online video and trivia games'. Along with a really interesting 'Amusement park services'.

You hit the spot Gravity... Eeeeeenteresting.

They've only applied for the trademark... it's at least a year away from being a registered trademark where they can put an "®" next to the name.

Trust me... trademarks take forever to get. I spent two years and $500 to get CliqueSite® registered, by which time it wasn't even something I'll sell.

I think that cedar point needs to create a wooden coaster with a lift hill of 180 feet. They should also create a ride like Iron Dragon just much larger. A first hill of 185 feet. That would be off the hook

Yeah. That would TOTALLY ROXOR!!!11!!1!!11one!1

Uhm, No. When's the last time you saw a new suspended installation. Let alone one close to the 200 foot mark?

A wooden coaster 20 feet taller than Mean Streak? What's the point?

Now, correct me if I'm wrong (I'm pretty ignorant to the ins and outs of trademarks and the like)... but that wouldn't stop them from using it in the mean time... would it? Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, and Chaos, for example, are listed on the park map as TM's. Raptor, and Mantis, are listed as (R)'s.

What is the actual difference here?

2003 - Wicked Twister
2004 - Wicked Twister/Top Thrill Dragster

If I remember correctly I think that it didn't stop Cedar Point use the names of their last couple of rides. I don't think that Raptor got a (R) until a couple of years of operation. But, I don't know if Cedar Point applied for the trademark a year before they used it for Raptor. There's no doubt in my mind that Cedar Point, or at least Cedar Fair, will use it even though it doesn't get a trademark for years.

I have no clue what the differences are though...

No, if you use a mark in commerce and indicate it's a trademark with a "TM" after it, you can defend it in court if it's not already being used.

Doesn't the type of product being trademarked come into play? I remember the Millennium Force rollercoaster vs. sports drink thing that happened when the coaster was announced. Again, I'm clueless as to the laws that apply to trademarking things.
