Patriot

For the past couple of weeks, i keep hearing rumors about cedar fair and a new roller coaster called patriot. I would think that Cedar Point wouldn't get it because their next coaster wouldn't come til 2007. Dorney Park and Knott's got their coasters for 2005, so they are not getting anything soon. Worlds of Fun got theirs in 2004 and are not expected to get one soon. Geauga Lake is busy with their waterpark for the next two years. This leaves patriot to Valleyfair and Michigan's adventure.

do you think it will be for Valleyfair? for Michigan's Adventure? to another park (CP, GL, etc.)? or do you think it is a bunch of lies to get exitement going before the 2005 season.

Patriot, heard this one on CBuzz somewhere... hum... I think this was the name of a new coaster that is in the planning at MA if I remember correctly. But don't go to the press with it.

That is if it's true. :)

Why wouldent cedarpoint get a new coaster till 2007?

But I really hope that michigans adventure gets a new coaster soon.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

i would think that Cedar Point will get a record braker in 2007 as Kenzel's good bye gift.

I had heard that it was going to Worlds of Fun. They may have gotten a new coaster, but it wasn't a very large one. And since they took out Orient Express, they need another multi-looping coaster. And it does seem like they are getting ready for a big expansion, because of some of the things you see at the park.

Proud holder of Cedar Fair stock!

I can really see Cedar Point taking a step up Six Flags and go for 500ft mark and make the ride around 145. Now the question is do all coasters over 400ft need a launch system? It sure seems to be the best idea, and Six Flags didn't come up with any other ideas.

*bangs head on desk*

I have just had an overload of things I just want to say, and scream, all at the same time.

There is no reason to say that CP wont get another coaster until 2007, there is no reason to say that Kinzel has some magic ride up his sleeve to say 'good-bye' to everyone with, and there is no reason to say it will be over 500 feet. I have no idea why people insist on thinking that CP will building another huge ride (500+ feet) without thinking what kind of ride this would be. The only really feasable(sp?) option is a[nother] rocket coaster, and it simply won't happen. It will not happen because of so many factors, I cannot count them on one hand. There is money, technology, appeal* and space to consider. If we see a ride like that, they might as well take down Dragster because there is [in my mind] no point in having 2 rocket coasters that are just l:th:breaks. To do that is to render TTD almost useless, and to do anymore than that is going to cost an astronomical amount.

*This would change the skyline into a view of confusion. Why would they have 2 large (almost identical) hills stick up? as in 2 rocket coasters that reach that high and do the sail through the same elements?

I do not want to be a nay-sayer and I do not want to be a jerk to anyone here, but hearing the same rumor get cycled over and over is mindnumbing. Let's expand our horizons a bit.. I know CP will be, they always have! :)

Record Braker, huh? Does that mean it has the most brakes, of any ride....EVER?

Jeff Young

my bad.

WoF sounds right for the rumor too. It has something to do with red, white, and blue track and a new American section or something. I just can't place the park. And I can confirm that this is not a CP rumor so don't beg for it.

I bieleve I heard it was going to Ma. I heard that cedar point was going to get a ride called F.E.A.R I forgot what it standed for.

What are you guys TALKING about? The name "The Patriot" is for Knott's Berry Farm's new 600-foot looping-inverted-wooden-standup-flyer. ;)

Personally, I don't have any clue where it's going, and anything I say would be mere speculation. I'd really like it to be a ride at Michigan's Adventure, but there's always the chance it could end up at one of the other parks.

For the 500 foot coaster thing... I just don't see one being built that would make the rest of the park look tacky from afar unless it was a rocket coaster... I'm no expert on the issue, but imagine that lift hill!

What if it used a cable lift just like MF? With a 45°+ lift.

Basically a MF on a much larger scale but with different supports and differernt colors. *** Edited 4/23/2005 7:27:57 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

I have been saying this for a year and I still think CP will break the inversion record with an Intamin sit-down looper. It would make sense because CP's only other sit-down looper is Corcskrew and no other coaster in the U.S. could come close to say 11-14 inversions(enough to break the record).

I think anyone who says another Intamin is on the way is smoking some good stuff! To say the last two have been problems would be an understatement. Although MF can probably be cosidered a success overall, it's not without its issues. Same with WT. Dragster had over 30% downtime and failed to give even one million rides in its second season. And how much has the ride cost the park in maintenance and bad PR? I'm amazed anyone buys Intamins still, let alone Cedar Point.

Put in another woodie anywhere in the park and I will be a very happy man. It doesn't have to be record breaking, just a nice sized wooden coaster would be great.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I don't know. Woodies do take up very large amounts of space. Also, ever since Meanstreak I think CP has been a little remorse at going with Woodies because of the huge amounts of maitenance that it takes to keep a woodie going. Although I wouldn't be complaining about a GG wood. *** Edited 4/24/2005 1:58:13 AM UTC by Fastball84***
