Paddlewheel anxiety

So yeah, I have been getting a lot of flak from people about being put on Paddlewheel. They say that it is boring. I just can't see how it could be boring! You are constantly talking (corny talking nontheless)... I mean come on... Personally I think this summer is going to rock. I just wish that I knew more of my crew... I know Nichole, my TL, but that is it (incidentally we live in the same city). Just thought I would post a little rant-like-post.

Anything becomes "boring" if you do it repetitely for hours. Interestingly enough, It was in those busy summer weekends (when you really gotta hussle and get those riders on and off real fast)- those were the most fun because you were never bored... always doing something.

Well if you get bored of the job, you could ask your sup if you can transfer to another ride. Or even ask your manager.

dont worry about all the flak ur getting from being on paddlewheel. i was on it for the 2nd half of last season and was the best ride ive ever worked. yes you do talk a lot and the jokes do get old after telling them 50 times each a day. but your manual is huge and there is always room for more jokes to be added. plus, the best is taking the boats out in the morning to test ride them when you are the first one on the lagoon. if its like 70 degrees out or so, its so peaceful after a long night of drama. also whats best is taking the boats out at night when there are a few people and just take a nice peaceful evening cruise. dont have anxiety over working there. all the other rides in the park are cool to work, but this is the only ride where you can call yourself a captain. and you are known through-out the park. if ya need any tips on joke telling, feel free to ask. id be more than happy to help.

lol it is stitch on power tower :) but on pwe, they called me pokemon. not a clue why
I was a captain at the end of the season last year, I was frustrated because hardly anybody has a sense of humor. and I think everybody is deaf.... But I was transfered after a few weeks...I was written up for wreckless driving, lol
Not you Candace.. ;)

I was almost afraid to go out to the island to work on the bears or pigs in the boat when I saw you driving. ;)

Coming back this season?

joy ;)
paddlewheel isn't all that bad. Actually driving that boat is pretty fun... just don't crash into trees with guests on like i did. lol.

But yah... true to any position in rides - after a month or so it's all boring and repetive. You'll know exactly how many mins it takes to do everything and you'll stop thinking "1 hour till break" and intstead "15 times around till break"

i guess your advantage on PW is that it's a longer ride than most, you're in the shade when on the boat (sun on the dock can be brutal tho) and you get that nice breeze.

Watch out for those teeny tiny blood sucking black bugs that nip at your ankles the entire ride. ahhhh, the worst.

When you start getting burnt out in july or august... try to become a ride whore. it breaks the monontony and is tons of fun.

good point james. i almost ran the boat up on the rocks by camp snoopy once by chasing the dumb geese. other than that, only other bad thing i did was hit a parked boat and backed in to another one. i told the guests to buckle their seatbelts. they actually all looked down and tried to do it! hahaha. messing with guests on that ride was so fun.
lol! I was on PW for a week... they had me driving the boat on my second day. eek. looks ALOT easier than it actually is. My problem was i concentrated so hard on making it thru that wooden pass thingy under Millenium that I totally forgot that i had to start turning to the left when i got thru. When i realized i was going str8 towards the trees, it was too late. front of the boat went to the left and the back went to the right... right into a low hanging tree and i brought back a nice souvenier branch in the last row of seats... nearly missing a guest, who consequently thought that ride was more intense than a coaster ;) lol

haha! only time i hit that wood or concrete under MF was the first time i drove the boat.. no guests.. and i hit it hard. i think i put a dent in the side of winnie.
You guys are making me excited...

Here's to hoping that I don't crash into anything!

just have fun with it and ull do fine
people like it when you chase geese...or atleast I thought it was funny
Umm My name is Baltusie and I worked @ CP this past summer and these girls from school would always come and now they always ask me if I know Captain Ryan from Paddlewheel b/c they rode it almost everyday. They were OBSESSED...they also said something about a Jay...anyone who knows anything tell me
It sounds like I wasn't lucky enough to get any of the captains who are posting here. Most of you sound like you enjoyed it, but the couple times I rode last year, I got nothing but cold stares when I tried to be friendly to the captain on the boat. I thought that rather unusual.

This year, I'll hold out for captains Jay and Erroll
