Over the Top

We did this in Physics yesterday, and calculated that you will go over the top at [approx.] 37mph.

Good grief, Charlie Brown! Seriously, what compells you to be such a jerk. You don't need to point out others' insignificant mistakes, even if for some reason you get your jollies off it. Even if the said 20 ft. estimate was "horribly wrong" (as it may very well be), is it really going create world-wide catastrophies, chaos (i like that ride :)), and wide-spread anarchy? I think not... Dude, when i said "Why cant we all just get along?" i wasn't patronizing you or being sarcastic, i was just posing a legitimate suggestion. For cryin' out loud, we dont need to do this to each other... Let's just all enjoy the 'company' and conversation of fellow enthusiasts and not worry about "shoving [things] in [people's] faces"...

Well, thats my two-fifths of a nickel - Adios

I can tell you with much certainty that it will not crest the tophat anywhere near 37mph. It will crest the tophat at 5-15 mph...quite similar to Xcelerator. This is straight from Monty Jasper's mouth.

On another note, this is a public forum where you can post information. If the information you post is either questionable or down right asinine, you can bet that you'll be called on it. So be ready to defend your statements with facts because it will undoubtably be picked apart and scrutinized. Also, it doesn't matter whether someone is your best friend or not...if they are wrong, they are still wrong. Why get all defensive about it?

I keep hearing that it will be going only about 5-15 MPH while going over the top hat. I've yet to see that mentioned anywhere else, but, in some of the posts I see here. Is that mentioned anywhere else or by anybody who knows for sure. I'm not trying to doubt anyone here, I just want to get that info from someone who's an expert.

I see someone's post mentioned Monty Jasper. Where can I find what he was talking about.

It was mentioned in the Monty Jasper thread that we'll be between 5-15. Anyone who expected anything more than that was kidding only themselves.

I already checked out that thread. It's mentioned by several people in that thread about Monty Jasper saying that. Even Jeff, who started that thread doesn't mention about that 5-15 mph speed. I want to know if there's somewhere I can see for myself what Monty Jasper said. Thanks anyways, Gravity.

I think its obvious that Draken LC is right, especially if he did it in his own physics class.

I think it is wrong of all of us to doubt him, and i am sticking with the proposal that the car will ascend over the tophat at approximately 37 MPH.

And like John said, i cant find anywhere where Monty actually said 5-15 MPH, i dont know what some of you are talking about.

The last post on the first page of the Monty Jasper thread says that "Monty did say we will be cresting the tophat at about 5-15 mph."

So what kind of proof do you guys want? For Monty to come directly to your house, knock on your door, smack you over the head for making him travel such a distance, and tell you face to face that it will be traveling 5-15 mph over the top?!

Just look at any footage of Xcelerator going over the tophat. It's traveling 5-15 mph, and definitely not anywhere near 37 mph! Traveling that fast, I'm sure that the negative G's would be approaching harmful levels because of the small radius of the tophat.

I'm just wondering... who cares how fast the train crests over the hill? You've got three things: 1) the train goes too slow (less than 5 MPH?) and you roll back, 2) the train goes the calculated and predicted speed (5-15 MPH) providing optimum airtime within human tolerances, or 3) the train goes too fast (16+ MPH?) and you painfully red-out.

It's pretty obvious how fast this thing will be going over the top, and why we wouldn't want to be traveling any faster. (any slower, well, thats another story ;))

I'm with MiLLeNNiuMRiDeR (Why are the capital letters in your name random? Is that to make it hard for all us iliterate people to read?) on how he says either the speed over the top hat will be:

1)Too fast for some of you (the papa bear)

2) Too slow for some of you (the baby bear)

3) Or Juuuuuuuust right- (the momma bear)-so Goldilocks enjoyed Top Thrill Dragster because it was perfect for her satisfaction.

I'm sure the ride for you all will be just like Goldilock's---Juuuuuuuuuust Right!

Speaking of being 'just right' or 'accurate' in posts, I think it was baby bear's items that were just right in the story. "Papa bear's bed was too hard. Mama bear's bed was too soft. But baby bear's bed was just right," if I remember correctly.

As far as your previous posts: perhaps you should familiarize yourself with proper web etiquette. Also, beating the straw man isn't going to help at all.

Don't understand what I mean? Take it to my email address. Keep it off the forums.

With that: The ride's going to be 5-15 MPH. I don't think, after a $25 million price tag, that the simulation would show 5-15, and the actual ride be something different. It's all planned out, and you have that speed information from the park. It is what it is.

And what does that mean? The top is going to be fun! You'll have a little time to stare around, and look DOWN on Millennium Force, or the park, or Ohio. Then it's straight down with a twist. You'll get a full, spinning view.
