On-Ride Photo

How sweet would it be to have an on-ride photo on this? Of course, it would have to be while you're going 120 mph, or else it'd have be during the top-hat. I think it'd just be crazy. I mean, a photo on Millie is sweet, but while going 120 mph!?! That's just ridiculous!

On the top hat would be cool.

I fool so feelish...

I think it would be cool if they labeled your onride photo with how fast you were going. Maybe in one of the corners of the picture it had "118mph" or however fast the train was going, so you could see yourself like "Thats me going .... mph"
Nice idea Draken. I think the speed is a little slower on MF when pic is taken .( 65 -70 mph??)I think the cam could be just after pull out on the down side to capture that abject look of terror on your face after dropping 400 ft

I'm not an old fogey, I'm just an old coaster rider..

Can you imagine how much a digital-camera that can pictures at that rate of speed would cost? Not that cost is ever an issue to CP. If they do have an ORP, I think it'd be cool if it was right after the launch. To see the look on peoples faces as they get launched would be a comedy show in itself.

Yeah... they'd cost as much as a camera shooting at a still train.

DELETED!

I hardly ever post anything... But I can imagine being plastered into those trains at 120 mph. And I think I would really want to see the aftershock of being blasted at 120 mph and get ready to fall from 420 feet. An ORP at the top of the tophat has my vote... Can't wait till May!
I think the ultimate view woudl be on the upside of the tower. Looking down at the ground like the Apocolypse drop tower in England.

Well to be honest... The entire reason that Wicked Twister doesn't have pictures is because it goes to fast. Theres not a slow part in the ride. "If" the Dragster had a picture it wouldn't show up unless it was taking off and it was when it was going around 55 mph or so. A camera can't catch anything that goes very much faster. The picture turns out blurry. But i suppose if you got the "118" in the corner you could say...."thats me you just can't tell that its really me!"

Um....the reason no pictures are taken on Wicked Twister is because it goes back and forth, not because it goes to fast. The camera would end up taking to many pictures.

Um, wicked twister didn't have an on-ride photo, becuase it passes the same point about 6 times, resulting in 6 pictures being taken. The cameras go off when a laser beam is broken, so it's not logical on WT. That and there is no good point to have a camera to take the pics.

Actually it is possible to have an on-ride photo with a coaster that passes the same point multiple times... look at Face/Off at PKI.

World's first strata-coaster!

I'm assuming that the camera will be right after the launch, similar to the camera on Rockin' Roller Coaster. It will be great to see the expressions on people's faces in those pictures.

You people have very little faith in technology. People have taken pictures of objects moving much faster the 120mph.. And on WT, how difficult would it be to program the camera to only take pictures every 6th time the train hits the beam?

I agree with RPMguitar, CP could do any of the things you mentioned, and the only reason they don't is because they don't want to. And if the camera was right at the beginning of the launch, I think it'd be the only on ride photo to actually capture shock on a person's face because all of the others happen as the ride is nearing the end and by that time everybody's already had the crap scared out of them.

Enjoy your ride on the Big Bad Bug

I think it should be at either the top of the tophat or right at launch. Think of the view you would get if it was at the top from 400ft. (if they angle it right) And launch would be good just for the shock factor. If they have a ORP anywhere on the ride i'm getting one on my first ride just because i'll be surprised.
In my personal opinion, the two best places for an ORP is the up and downside of the towers. On the upside, you could see the ground behind you, on the downside of the tower you can see the sky and tophat behind you.

As for the technology - it's totally possible. On TLC I saw a show where they did analysis of a prop for a cruise ship. The prop, spinning, appeared to be stationary. It only appeared that way because a strobe light was properly timed to go off when the prop was in the same spot. And the prop is moving at thousands of RPM's.

I certainly hope that Dragster has an ORP. I can't wait to see my friend when I drag him onto this ride :)

I think it would be cool to have it before the brake run, for a "photo finish.";)

When it's good, it's very good...
When it's bad, it's wicked

You guys forgot the idea of multiple cameras. There could be a cam for every seat. If we can talk to people in on the other side of the world in seconds, and launch to the moon, I think somewhere in the world there's a camera that can take pictures at 120mph.

If there's bugs on your shirt, you had a good ride.

Thank you Jeff for your work to make and run this site!

I believe Millennium uses two cameras in its one spot to make sure all people's pictures are taken. Having a Ride Photo on this ride is totally possible!
