On linking to photos

I agree with Jeff but I also just have to ask, they never have offered off season tours to anyone except Jeff have they? Is there a way we could petition them to have one for us here?
Not unless you become "the offical unoffical cedar point website" had to through that one in there, and If i'm not correct Jeff wasn't the only one on that tour, he didn't get a Construction tour of WT. I think MF was a special situation, also, Jeff wasn't even allowed to post all the pictures he took till AFTER the season started, so I a WAY it was pointless, but in another way it wasn't, because he has some AWSOME construction pictures that I know I couldn't have gotten from my deck it I tried.

Actually, Jeff and several others toured WT's construction site last year. YOu could see them on the webcam. Jeff isn't the only one let on tours, but if you are allowed access, you have a good reason for being there.

Exactly, Just like the media day for any of the recent coasters, you don't get invited "just because".

I was just wondering, how close can you get on a boat (legally and safely)? Close enough to take good pictures? Just a thought.

You can get right up to the shore of the pennsulia if you wanted to. But the fact that it would be pretty cold would detour me. If the bay is frozen you could ride a snowmobile over there, (thats if the channel if frozen too).

As long as your boat is floating in the water then you are on public property. Just don't leave the boat and take pictures from the beach or road.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

But I doubt that your pictures would be worth the trouble or the risk. You'll only see the uppermost part of the tower at best. From most plaecs you'll see it only thru the trees.
I'd just like to point out that the Cedar Point police are not "rent-a-cops." They are a police force, and if it wasn't for them there's the possiblity that you culd have been mugged in the middle of the park on your last visit.

One thing I can't stand more than people who are willingly stupid (a whole other topid) is people who badmouth the hard working individuals that keep their lives safe.

2001 - Hooray For Hollywood
2002 - Hooray For Hollywood: The Sequel

I think there are 2 distinct groups of Cedar Point police.

Back in the mid-to-late 80's one of their cops got convicted of raping a girl at gunpoint (allegedly) so they were forced by Sandusky to limit the gun-carrying number to only the senior officers. I remember hearing "Sergeant" but am not positive it is restricted to rank.

This could explain why some of them appear to be rent-a-cops. There are quite a few who are just walkie-talkie carrying, pepper spray toting, badge wearing cops.

Here's another possibility for the limited number of firearms. CP wants to promote a have-a-fun-day image. It's hard to do that with armed guards everywhere you look, since you start to wonder why all these people need guns. What the security forces carry can make a big difference in tone. For example, even with US airport security staff carrying sidearms, they don't carry the same intimidation factor as your garden variety western european assault-rifle-toting airport security dude.
coasterrunner- The person calling them "rent-a-cops" deleted their post (or had it deleted for them). I guess they didn't want to take the heat for their comments.

It's bad enough that people think that the anonimity of posting to boards like this give them the right to insult other people, but to make assinine statements like that then delete the post really takes the cake. That's even worse than someone's having two different names to post under and using one of them just to get back people who p*ssed him off.
Yes,I deleted my post because CP fanboys don't understand I was talking about.

The CP cops appear to be rent a cops to me based on my experiences with them. When I see them standing in a corner talking and joking with each other instead of walking the beat, not doing anything about smoking in line except look the other way, watch line jumpers and again look the other way,not even care about a car when it was vandalized in the lot (yes,it happened to me,they told me to call the sandusky police who told me to tell the CP police)-what are we supposed to think they are? When they actually do something police like,I'll think otherwise.

They aren't the SS, but they get the job done, and I'm not about to complain.

I didn't say they had to be SS extreme, they just act like mall cops as far as I have seen. Yes,their presence alone probably is enough, but knowing and being related to professional law enforcement and rescue personnel, they are lacking in a lot of ways.
Trust me that they do ALOT more than that. First off, I personally helped them to round up a guy and his kid. All this was after they guy and his kid got kicked off the sprint track and they made it so they guy could not go and complain and sell there tickets to some other person. Secondly, this summer I noticed kids playing in the area where cedar point has the parts for the new ride. As soon as I found a Cedar Point Policemen he called over to the police station and those kids were thrown out of that area within 2 minutes of me telling the police officer. And about the vandism in the parking lot, knowing from personal experience, they do something when a car is broke into. They took a report and to make a long story short YES they did find the person that did that to my truck. OH but they do stuff about line jumpers and smokers in line. Just because you had a bad experience with a couple of them WHY say that all of them are like that. I bet your the type of person that think all cops are pigs, eat donuts, and are fat. Well bud I hate to tell you that you are totally wrong. So next time to the park and something happens to your car I hope they do nothing and laugh at you because you have no respect for them.

You best hope that I am not a Cedar Point police officer next year because I will just laugh at you if something happens to you.

Wow,what a mature reply. Guess I should have expected it looking at all of your other replies on CP Place though, you are constantly badgering people with smart ass, immature replies.

Seeing as I am an EMT in training and work around professional law enforcement on a city, county and state level each day, it's safe to assume I know what I am talking about. And trust me, with the attitude of your last post coaster runner, you will never ever be on any safety force in the United States, maybe in Russia, but not here.

Yes,from what I have seen I get the impression that they are pretty much there for everyone to see and feel secure. I'm glad you had positive experiences with them. The ones I have pointed out jumpers to shrugged at me and watched something else, when my wife was having an asthma attack because of a batch of high school smokers who wouldn't put their damn cigarettes out in a 90 degree summer day Raptor line told me to take her to the first aid center, when I asked about the smoke free environment rule,he told me to tell a ride op. When two windows were smashed out of my car, the ones I talked to at the gate could have cared less.Luckily I have friends on the state police who gave a call to the Sandusky PD and the matter was taken care of,all I needed was a report made so I could make a claim on my insurance. Yes,there are more than 2 of them so the rest of the batch is most likely ok,I hope so for CP's sake.
