I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being like a normal summer day in terms of crowds. In fact.....I'd expect it.
I hope not! lol. when I purchased my tickets from OSU the guy working said they hadn't sold a lot of tickets to students, but that was probably 2 weeks ago. I'm hoping a lot of people that arent affiliated with OSU didnt somehow buy tickets.
either way, looks to be some good weather, and staying in the Breakers on Friday night got me a free ticket for Saturday (which I know WILL be packed), so I am looking to enjoy my trip regardless.
As far as students at the university go, not many people bought tickets at all. In fact, I am the only person I know of to do so, and there were still stacks of tickets sitting behind the desk where I bought them. They were not marketed very well to students, and this makes me think not too many current students were interested/aware.

I wouldn't take one guy selling tickets as an indication of what the crowds would like be that day. That's kind of like saying a travel agent only sold one Disney vacation so there must be no one going to Disney. Obviously most people book their stuff online these days. I think the fact that CP's new and supposedly more efficient front gate area has probably less than half the number of ticket booths (windows) that it did before is a good indication of that.
I'm expecting OSU Day to be crowded just about to the point where it begins to be uncomfortable (hour+ for MF, TTD, and Maverick, 20-30 min for Magnum), but not crowded to the point where you can hardly move. I'm curious to see quickly they can get those Gatekeeper trains out. If they can keep the interval around 75-80 seconds, it will be moving almost twice as many people per hour as Maverick or Dragster and about 40% more than MF so the lines MIGHT not be as awful as we think. I've never seen a Wing coaster's station operations in person though so I don't know if that's possible. Does anyone know what decision was made in terms of loose articles yet?

All I can say, in regards to wing coaster operations, is that they can move through people. Even though Wild Eagle had some issues with how the staff was handling loose articles, I was still impressed with how quickly the lines moved with a full queue. Even X Flight wasn't that bad.....and that was at a Six Flags park. :)

Of all 60,000+ students that attend OSU, how many do you think will actually be interested in this offer? I mean come on, I do hope they have a good turn out, and I think my family, friends, and I think the emails sent out were a good enough market to those who actually check their OSU email regularly.
The forecast, in this case, isn't going to be helpful in keeping crowds away, if my guess is right. Most of the people going are advance ticket purchases and the tickets can't be used on a different date. So, like many people, I plan to go "rain or shine" Because even if it rains, its not like I have anything better to do with the tickets.
I seriously doubt a platinum pass is valid for parking on OSU Day. Its a private event and platinum passes are only valid during CP's operating season that starts on Saturday.
Would the fact of having to pay parking actually affect your decision to go or not? I do agree that the parking fee is outrageous for something that has no perceived value, but a parking fee never drives my decision to visit a venue or not. Since its a private event, my guess is that you will not have to pay for parking....so that usually means you probably will. :)

What I'm curious about is, what happens to platinum pass parking after 6, when Challenge Park opens to the public? I'm not planning on heading up there this year, but I have for the past few years, and always used my pass to get back to Challenge Park that evening.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
