Off Topic But Very Important (terrorism)

Wanted to let you all know that I was just in town "Sandusky" at around 9pm and there were huge lines at the pumps at the Sunoco on 250..however the prices were still at the same rate they have been since last week...I don't think that the prices will get that high due to this tragedy and if they do it will only make the stations more profit and not the general economy unless the government orders for it I am not going to pay extreme prices for a reserve of gasoline that is not in danger from an attack here in the states....

I am just wondering if CP has the common sense to leave the park closed this week and during the weekends....I know that a lot of people are going to want to escape this weekend up here but I would not like to see problems arise here at all....I love this country, I love my job, and I love the people who come here and I never want to see any of us have to deal with what we had to see and hear today ever again.....GOD BLESS THE USA!

I Just read this and i figured i would send it on but it is very creepy

Nostradamus:In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb. The third big war will begin when the big city is burning.

Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth Will cause the towers around the New City to shake: Two great rocks will war for a long time, and then Arethusa shall color a new river red.``

I don`t put much stock in psychic visions with many possible interpretations, but that`s still creepy.

ALSO:

In regards to the events of today and Nostradamus.

Nostradamus warned of the TERROR FROM THEY SKY around 1999 starting WW III

Nostradamus warned of the FIRE IN THE SKY in the New City around 40 and 5 degrees latitude
(New York is 40.5 degrees)

Famous Nostradamus Translator Sollog warned of 2001 as the year THE USA would be STRUCK!

In the 902 Prophecy Sollog warned of
The BIG BANG IN THE BIG BUILDING between September 2nd and September 16th.

The Sollog "2001 USA TO BE STRUCK" Warning is in his famous US case 96CV 1499.

I am in shock. I worked twelve hours today, and only caught bits and pieces of it....When I finally got home(after not being able to buy gasoline anywhere, all sold out) I just sat and watched CNN for like four hours. I am nauseated.
WDW is very much a terrorist target, along with governmental, industrial, and highly populated areas.

If a place like WDW was hit, the emotional fear would be great, as it is a place of escape, happiness, etc...  Plus, I doubt that anyone could, or would want to do thier job unless it was to benefit humanity.

My prayers are with everyone who lost a loved one in Tuesday's attack. I also got a lump in my throat when I heard how many police officers and firefighters are missing and or dead. They faced fear, uncertainty, death, and their own death, yet they went on. I think this shows how dedicated and brave American emergency workers are we need to remember this everyday. They face their own demise every day and maybe that's why they can seem grumpy or insensitive at times, yet they go on. I am a police officer and have never faced anything close to what NY emergency workers faced but I am very proud of every one of them.

Yesterday was like a bad dream, my daughter and I both were watching CNN in the a.m. and witnessed the 2nd plane attack when it happened. I immediately got sick. Suddenly this sense of "comfort" in my country is gone. I can't tell you how many times I walked Manhattan and NEVER EVER worried about my safety against terrorism. I was in a daze all day yesterday, I felt a sudden urge to just hug my kids and never let them go. This morning they said they believe, thanks to cell phone calls that the passengers in the plane that crashed near Pittsburgh said they were "going down anyway and they werent going down without a fight" so it appears they did indeed fight and saved us from another tragedy some where else.
Where this tragedy "hit home" for me was Morgan Stanley, Dean Witter and Co (the "co" is for Discover Card-who I've been with for almost 12 years) they have 3500 employees in the south tower, floors 40-60 something. Last night at work we held a prayer session and checked our emails all night to see if they had any word on how many fellow employees may have died. There was no official word, just that some had escaped. Very sad :(
The gas price rumors were flying last night, heard in Marion it was up to 3.00/gallon. I stopped on way home and filled up, at BP it was still $1.69/gallon, and the news last night said that the attorney general was going to keep an eye on prices and will punish anyone jacking up prices unnecessarily. Let us all remember the victims and the victims families, have comfort they are all in Heaven, and confidence our goverment will deal with this.

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??

Nostradamus made so many predictions that some of them were bound to sound like they were right on.

As for parks closing, without hesitation I believe it was the prudent thing to do.  When the parks decided to close yesterday there was still some questions as to whether the "attacks" were over.  If you are going to target an area where a large group collects; an area that is a symbol of America; an area that will impact the entire world...why not a Disneyworld?

To try and keep on topic...it will be interesting to see the ramifications of this terrible tragedy on the amusement industry in the coming months and years.  While some parks have intermittently used metal detectors in the past, can we expect that to become a trend?  What about the parks' new practice of hiring from abroad?  Are there significant measures in place in terms of background checks for those being hired from overseas...and from here for that matter?

There are many decisions to be made and a lot of thought must go into each one of them.

Nicely said Winston and Jo! :)

Gas is $1.79 by were I live this morning .A bargain still compared to last year! What probably happened is what i said before. The terror and panic installed in the american people cuased evryone to run out and fill up last night. The demand could keep up with the supply, I even heard some stations ran out of gas. High demand plus a lower supply will cuase a surge in prices. I saw NOBODY filling up this morning.

As soon as people figure out that the WTC while an important building, it should not effect our economic concerns for the long run. Especially when it comes to gas prices.

Some remarks on the Nostradamus stuff:

First, as Wahoo points out, Nostradamus made a bazillion prophecies, any of which in the right circumstances will ring true.  What doesn't happen is the counting of how many have never come true.

Second, since Nostradamus' works are constantly be translated and retranslated, there is a problem in trusting them for authenticity... for past events at least it's very easy to give things a favorable translation to make it look like Nostradamus was right on in predicting them.  Remember, those translators are not in it for any love of truth or humanity... they're in it for money.

Third, before everyone started posting these things, did they look them up in their own copies of Nostradamus' works?  This could very well be an urban legend/hoax and those words might not appear at all.

Okay.. that said I'd just like to say that my thoughts are with the victims of this stunning, incomprehensible tragedy.  As an atheist, I can't in good conscience say I give my prayers... but I will be thinking of those people all the same.

Good point, Joe...

There are RUMORS flying about a crimp in the gas supply, but that's all they are: RUMORS. I filled up yesterday to avoid the rush last night (at 6pm I had to wait a few minutes. At 10pm the same station had people lined up for a block in each of three directions) and the tanker truck showed up while I was pumping--right on schedule.

What will cause more trouble than anything else right now are panicky responses to unfounded rumors. Fear and panic lead to chaos.

DON'T PANIC!

About the date, I believe that I heard that today (not yesterday) is the date for the sentencing of of an important bin ladin official. Remember, I'm not certain, but I am pretty sure.

Dave is right, stay calm and go about your life as usual. I've seen the gas lines last night. I saw a guy last night buy three full shopping carts of groceries. Terrorism has a dual purpose, the initial attack and the spread of fear. If you let your life change, the terrorists have won. Do not let terrorism, which is designed to create fear and stop production, halt your life or work. Go ahead and give blood, than go to CP and enjoy yourself. A full amusement park is a perfect way to show any terrorist organizations that they cannot break the spirit of America.
Pete,

I understand that we want to show all the world that life goes on but my wife and I will not be going to any location where large groups gather, i.e. amusement parks, until the government has more facts about what happened.

Should we retaliate, there may be more in store not only from Terrorists but governements that support the Terrorists.  Being in a large crowd, imo, is not a great idea.

I, on the other hand, refuse to make any changes to my plans in answer to this cowardly attack.

I'm going to Disney World next week.  I will not change my plans, if for no other reason than to demonstrate my defiance toward the groups whose doctrine is based on the spread of fear and panic.

If I cancel my trip, they've won.  F them.

God bless America!

On gas prices, that there is no change in supply and no reason for prices to skyrocket other than gouging:

The best thing to do is just to do what you would be anyway. Duane has it right - if we change, they've won, and that's the American spirit that President Bush (and I'm no fan, certainly) was referring to yesterday evening. We will prevail, because we can do nothing less.

Here in Cleveland, Mayor Michael White has vowed to stop gas stations from "gouging" money from the citizens. He has demanded that all gas stations remain under $2/gallon.  Some were reported as being as high as $4/gal.  He's threatened to close those gas stations that are still selling gas at high prices.  Reportedly, there have been a few closings with police officers detering people from those gas stations to other stations instead.

I appreciate the sentiments of Duane and others.  Yes, the more they disrupt life in America, the more they have "won".

However, if I am dead tomorrow, I have lost.
