Off Topic But Very Important (terrorism)

If you haven't heard already the World Trade Center Towers in New York City have been the center of what is believed to be a terrorist attack. At 8:42 this morning a plane struck the side of the 1st tower. About 15 minutes later another plane that as footage shows is an airliner struck the 2nd tower. Soon there after reports came in a plane had struck the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Following the attacks on the World Trade Center Towers the 2nd Tower collapsed at about 9:45 followed by the 1st Tower about 20 minutes later. This is a horrific situation and I think our prayers should go out to the familys of the workers and rescue workers involved in the situation.

Update:
All domestic and international flights within the United States have been grounded by the F.A.A. This following a 4th airliner crashing in Somerset County, Pennslyvania. Military planes are monitoring any incoming planes to the New York and Washington D.C. areas.

we're in school right now, and all of our classes have been cancelled, we're watching the news from 2nd hour on...

Both towers have collapsed, there has been a possible bomb at cleveland hopkins airport, all major colleges/universities in northern ohio have cancelled classes (except mine) and disney world is evacuating the parks.

Also my dad told me that there were shootings at the White House....

no shootings @ the whitehouse.... all airports are closed. fighter planes were dispatched to shoot down the "lost" planes that havent radioed in.

I'm not saying those of you who posted are wrong but can we please wait until these reports are confirmed before you post them. I doubt anything happened at the White House to due the fact that it was evacuated earlier this morning.

Jesus, i cant believe this is happenning. Everything here too in Uk has come to a complete standstill. Goverment / Military offices closed and on full Alert.

This is truly tragic and beyond believe, i just cant comprehend the scale of these attacks. Thoughts go out to anyone involved,although it doesn't seem enough right now.

I am not religious, but god pray this doesn't get any worse.

Well, squishy, I find it almost a disgrace that a place like LC would not close campus. Not necessarily because of a terrorist attack, but because this may be the single worst day in American History. The loss of life in incredible and we need to send our prayers to people, not learn about crap.
For any of those in the Cleveland area, Mayor White wants us to assist possibly later by giving blood if emergency supplies run out. The scale of this in incredible and beyond comprehension. If just one of those planes were to crash it would be a tragedy. This is beyond that. because of the sheer number of people who were in that one square mile area this could be this single deadliest day in American history.
FYI for those history buffs, this is the same day the Camp David peace accords were signed. Coincidence? I think not.

On my way.. just found out where it is today in Toledo..
... also made a phone call about re-enlistment if the option is open, this is a time for the country to pull together and do what you can. I joined the military to prevent things liek this, and am not thinking twice if help is needed..

America, too, is vulnerable and we should never forget how lucky we are that incidents like this don't happen more often.

A statement I heard on the radio (I'm sorry, I don't have a specific source) also indicated that it is possible that the plane that went down outsite Pittsburgh could have been heading for Camp David - more significance, owing to the date.

Other announcements (CNN): The Canadian and Mexican borders have been closed, Disney parks are closed and being evacuated, and there have been other bombs in the WTC area - unknown if they may be car bombs or overheated cars (that's what they said, I don't know anything about what cars do when they overheat other than it's a bad thing...)

Thoughts and prayers to all involved . . . and all of us.

If you are of age I urge you to give blood. Triages and Medical Centers in New York don't have nearly enough to treat all of the injured victims of this tragedy. My prayers go out to all of the victims and their familys as well as the rescue workers and their familys in the horrific situation.

Yeah I just read that. My first class started at noon too!

Sorry Jeff and everyone I was wrong with my date about signing date Camp David accords. I almost sure the peace talks ended that day the official signing was not till 6 days later. It still could be symbolic though.

The importance of the date is that a peace treaty was signed between two middle east countries.
