I've been examining the picture posted on the blog post some more. Looks like they have the side that was facing the beach now facing the front of the park. Should look nice with the water wrapping around the boat.
Didn't I read someone somewhere mention that the power to drive the boat sits somewhere away from the actual ride? Can they use the building that housed the Demon Drive controls for that or will that be somewhere else? I can't remember if they tore down the Demon Drop power room when they dismantled it.
EDIT: The building is definitely still there, they repainted it from its old green/blue color (maybe last year?). I would assume it will now house the Ocean Motion power units.

I wonder if all the extra work and attention paid to what is, essentially, a plan B for the park means they're committed to keeping OM in its new location for a good while?
These are my exact thoughts.
Don't get me wrong...I love that Cedar Point is theming Ocean Motion and caring about details for once. But, I completely expected Ocean Motion was going to be used as filler for a couple years until a big project needed the land.
With the amount of effort they're putting into this, it really seems like it's there to stay for awhile. This annoys me in a way, as I was actually a fan of Demon Drop. I let it go, thinking something better would soon be in its place, and then this?
Demon Drop seemed like a much more impressive ride at CP's entrance, so I'm really confused by all the effort and expenses in moving it. Oh well...at least there's something new to look forward to seeing.

Yes, the hydraulic power unit (HPU) for Ocean Motion had been relegated to the picnic grove outside the park, presumably to keep the noise away from the ride.
It's not necessary to do this with the ride, although it is not uncommon for Cedar Point to do this with a hydraulic ride. Another example of this is Wave Swinger, whose pump is located in the little shack behind the carousel building. On the other hand, the Monster and Witches Wheel have their pumps mounted right on the ride, and there's no reason they couldn't do this with Ocean Motion as well.
As for the little computer room they failed to tear down when Demon Drop went away...I don't know if they are using that building for anything or not, but yes, they could put the Ocean Motion pump in there. Actually, Ocean Motion is going to need more support equipment for the pond filter than it ever needed for the HPU, I'm guessing that whatever they do, they'll probably co-locate both systems.
