Ocean Motion: new location and look

I just might be more excited about Ocean Motion than I am about WindSeeker. Then again, that's probably because I will have ridden it already at KI.

Didn't Ocean Motion once have a pond on the midway-side of the ride in its old location? I recall there even were the little remote boats you could pilot around the water. In a way with the new pond they are "plussing" back something they "minused" years ago from the old location.

I remember the remote control boats, near ocean motion; but no one I have talked with, remembers them. They think I am nuts, but it might not be because of the boat statement. :)

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

I remember remote controlled boats from long ago, but I can't remember where they were. I was too young and didn't visit cedar point often enough to have the layout perfectly memorized.

And to the Pirate Ride photo poster, thanks, I really miss that ride. I always loved riding it as a kid.

The remote control boats I remember were in the Ocean Motion pond, the lagoon by Iron Dragon's finale on the Corkscrew side, and possibly in the water in front of The Pirate Ride (although I can't be sure of this, as the "explosions" in the water might have interfered with the operation of the boats).

I think there were a set of remote control trucks, too. Probably located where the mini golf course was which is now Planet Snoopy. Anyone else remember those?

I'm glad they are dressing up Ocean Motion since its one of the first things you see in the park. Little details like this should be done for a park that many of us consider to be world class.

I remember the boats, but not the trucks. The boats were fun. That's a part of my long-term-memory that has not been accessed in quite a long time. Always fun to brush some dust off of rarely used corners of the brain. :)

Now all they need is to bring back the Pirate Ride in that location. Ocean Motion and Hurricane Hannah's would all go together.

Excited about opening day. Although they are really pushing for OM to be ready by than. I have talked to the electricians on this project and they are reminded everyday about opening weekend.

Well with the theming...I mean, think of The Crypt at KI..All the theming is covered up or not working...Disaster Transport, same deal...All of that is simple, yet they fail...With this, that pool I doubt will stay clean for long...I even think that'll be the fate of STR..I mean Snake River Falls doesn't look clean anymore does it :P

How did I know it wasn't gonna take long for something like this to pop up

Leave it to Jason to find it.

It looks amazing.

What would be better, is if they brought in the old cannons from the pirate dark ride. Anyone remember them?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Thanks for the map, Jason. Very cool.

But it got me thinking how much I really miss those Kodak Photo Spots. Without them, I have absolutely no idea where to take pictures...

Let opening day take its good sweet time. For my sake anyway...lol. I'm excited for Windseeker as well as Ocean Motion in it's new home. The theme for Ocean Motion should draw attention to this ride more than it did when it was in the corner where Windseeker is now standing. Makes me wonder if we'll see some theme for Windseeker before Opening Day?

^ What, huge turbine fans in line? lol

Yea they don't really leave themselves open for much themeing do they? ;)

I'm sure nobody knows the answer to this question but here it goes. Does anybody know if they'll plant some trees around Ocean Motion? Just curious with all the open area the site will still have when complete.

The only people that would know that are in Planning and Design. WE just have to wait till opening day.

I wonder if all the extra work and attention paid to what is, essentially, a plan B for the park means they're committed to keeping OM in its new location for a good while?

I would certainly think so. That is a significant amount up work for an older ride. That's more than what was done for MaxAir and SkyHawk combined.
