Maybe if you type a really long runon sentence, and stomp your feet around and say "Not Fair!" a couple more times, they'll reconsider.

Wow, we need some real gramatical work here. Maybe you should call them and find out what's going on instead of delighting us with your 3rd grade English skills...

Eric you said that you "quit the right way." Well if you are referring to last season there is no right way to quit. You did sign a contract with Cedar Point and then decided to back out of it. For whatever reason it was I don't know it. Obviously CP doesn't feel that you will uphold your contract if you were to be given one for this season. But like S2Kster said you should call up your ST or Manager or whoever is incharge of Fridays and talk to them about it. And finally don't say this it is unfair, because to CP you quitting was unfair to them.

you know i heard that the average company spends $5,000 worth of training on new employees...maybe they dont want someone who MIGHT waste thier money...then again I dont know since ive never worked at CP

There is no way they spend $5k per employee on training.

But still what I am guessing he is trying to say they don't wanna take the chance of wasting money again on that person.

He didn't mean $5 grand on EACH person, he meant altogether.

exactly...i didnt mean per person...well di highly doubt CP or any other park for that matter..i mean you guys are good, but its not rocket science=)

i heard it when i worked for the local blood bank...i was having a conversation with my supervisor and she was telling me about why having a high turnover rate is so expensive for certain companies...thats why some companies are so selective. the ones that can afford it tend to be a lil less selective as they usually need quantity over quality...hard decision to make...thas for sure!

i'm sure they spend way more than 5K actually. remember you do get paid for training.

It comes down to reliability. There are only 130 or so days in the operating season. If they don't think you can commit to a certain amount of time they aren't going to hire you.

Talk to your former manager. Maybe they will give you a second chance, maybe they will lift your no-rehire status and let you work elsewhere in the park, -or- maybe you need to go pick up an application at Mickey D's.

You'd be surprised how much the little online training thing cost, the little sessions for having ppl walk our happy rear ends around the park, background checks, etc. ... I'd not be surprised if they actually spend MORE than that...

Not to mention all the phone calls for each and every person that works there... each long distance call = $$$$$

Alright, first off, S2kster and Gravity, you shouldn't criticize someone on the way that they are typing or writing a post. You should show respect for everyone who posts a message on this board, even know I am not the webmaster, but Eric is my friend, and you just have to show respect to other people who are on here. I am not trying to be rude or mean, but its something that you have to learn in life, is respect, and you would want that same respect in your life too. As for the whole "It's Not Fair" CP hiring status, I think that CP needs to focus more on past employees as well as new employees, and those who don't show the management 100% respect and satisfaction. I think CP management should conclude exit interviews when people leave, and ask them why they are leaving before they sign their termination form. I really think that the managment at CP can pump it up a notch and show respect to the employees more as employees show respect to the managment.

Actually Hypersonic, if you re-read the Terms of Service that he agreed to when he signed up for this website. You'd see that his style of post is highly frowned upon here.

1. Spelling & Grammar usage:
There's a difference between a typo (which we all make) and chat shorthand ("r ne of u lamerz?") People like to read real, spelled out words, with capitalization and punctuation. THERE IS NO NEED TO SHOUT, we can hear you just fine. Please utilize your shift and caps lock key properly. Respect for the English language is important, and that means chat shorthand is not welcome.

(Exactly... Those few extra seconds it takes to capitalize proper nouns and include all the necessary letters to spell a word correctly are highly appreciated).

I'm wondering why both you and your sister quit at the Point, and why you would even *expect* to be easily received back after doing so. You said you quit the "right way" -- did that mean you gave two weeks' notice, and provided proper documentation of extenuating circumstances that required that you leave? Just deciding to not go back to work the next day, but processing out correctly, is still frowned upon as it leaves everyone hanging for the next week.

I agree with the others who suggest that you should speak with your manager about last season and see if your status can be changed, but before you do that think about what he or she would remember about you -- were you late all the time, or were you known for taking policy lightly? If not, then call. If so, then maybe you should take Chief Wahoo's advice and look into working somewhere else.
