I got about 5 rides on it last week during our trip, and we didn't mind the wait without our phones either. However, unlike you, I would say 4 out of the 5 times we waited in line (had Fast Lane one day) we saw at least 1 person per wait using their cell phone. It was pretty annoying. Even more annoying was when a guy got caught using his phone, admitted he knew he wasn't supposed to, and was told to go put it in a locker and get back in line. Fine, but he was allowed to get right back in line in his original spot with his friends.
You must be the Punishment Police.
I wouldn’t have a problem with that. He was in line anyway. Now tell us he was behind you.
No, he wasn't behind us. He was in front of us. And yeah, it annoyed us. We followed their rules to ride their ride. You think if people know they can take their phones with them, MAYBE get caught, but be able to go to a locker, put their phone in, maybe grab a drink, hit the bathroom, and still get right back in line where they were, that it's still going to be any type of deterrent?
Sounds like a trip to the 'Make Me Whole Department' was in order.

Hahaha, ok that one was good :)
All I was saying was it was annoying. It didn't affect my week or anything...just an observation.
Why don’t we just say that the public reprimand and the trip out to the locker and back was inconvenient enough, and maybe there was a lesson learned to keep in mind for future visits.
The ride op kindly cut the guy a break this time and there’s nothing wrong with that, especially since no one in line lost any precious time at all. And there was no hateful altercation which may have affected customer perception.
I used to envy the inaugural crew on this great new ride, now not so much. It has to be a tough day for all the wrong reasons.
To handle all of the cell. phone scofflaws they need Gomer Pyle to run around yelling "Citizens arrest! Citizens arrest!" I'd post the 21 second clip from youtube but I don't know how.
While I appreciate the Pointbuzz "Whole" Department. Sigh. He expressed an observation. Yeah I know its all just a joke that has been beaten past a dead horse. Whatever, have fun.
I think the point FirePhantom was attempting to make was a valid one. From what I've read you are warned about the phone rule as you enter, even more so than the "I have to pee" rule.
Guy that has a phone out still has his place in line. Guy that has to pee doesn't.
I think the person with their phone out should have to do the same thing someone that needs to use the bathroom has too. Re-enter at the back. In a perfect world none of this would be necessary but folks will take advantage of anything. In other words keep things consistent.
My need for a phone pales in comparison to a genuine need for water or bathroom. The rules were stated and I adjusted accordingly. Phones aren't a biological need so I have a hunch they can have the same rules applied to them as any other.
Things change fast around here. Didn't it used to be if someone broke the rules and wanted to argue against them they were the entitled enthusiast? Wasn't breaking the rules meant nothing was owed to you? Now its a department of Punishment Police.
Fascinating to say the least.
I'd say a defining, but not limited to, characteristic of an entitled enthusiast is the need to concern themselves with how the park regulates its policies, and even more so concern themselves with how others actions, that have no effect them, are policed.
In the service industry, guest relations is a gray area with many shades. yes, there are rules, some are hard and unbreakable, most are not. You want to retain customers while also have them maintain order, throwing every offender of listed rules out of the park would be a costly mistake with little to no benefit.

That poor Steel Vengeance crew can't catch a break can they? I do love how they had that sign on the ops booth that said Guest Services is our super power.
So I should take my phone with me in case I have to pee... Then I can take out my phone, get sent out of line, pee, then resume my spot... :)
Oh Crap. I am sick, and take medicine, and my doctor will let me ride The Coaster like I have said this before. My friend holds my pills. I have to call my friend if I have my problems. How can she get to me when I am in line? I have zipped pockets in my shorts, and they have never looked and saw it.

Medical bags and anything medically related are a completely different story. Hence why you can bring a medical bag in line on Millennium Force and pick it up at the unload station whereas everybody else must leave their bag in a locker or with a non rider.
For all of you who might still be whining and crying about putting your phones in a locker, here's a good reason they should not be allowed on coasters. My friend and I were exiting the station of Thunderhawk at Michigan's Adventure on Sunday when I heard what sounded like the gate slamming shut. Turns out it was a phone flying off of the ride and landing between my buddy and the kid who was right behind him. Fortunately, only the phone was destroyed.
If you're too cheap to rent a locker, either don't ride or leave your phone in the car.
