I went this past weekend (09-23 - 09/24) and I must say, it was a nice change from the usual regurgitated spiels. To me at least, I liked having the crew get a little more in touch with the crowd and the riders.
The best was when the guy on the Raptor crew said "... Raptor, the best thing thats green." I thought that was hilarious.
Every time we rode TTD it was something different. I was curious to see if the guys voice was hoarse by the end of the evening. But, he was going strong.

The operator can't spiel from controls. Load operators on the platform are perfectly free to spiel, however. The only spiels done from controls (other than the necessary "clear" or "restraints released") would be down spiels, and then the ride isn't operating anyway.
Those headsets are expensive, so some rides just didn't get them this year, such as Iron Dragon and Corkscrew (though CCMR did, go figure). If Zigg is right, then those rides must have autospiels, because Arrow/S&S prohibits spieling from controls.
I didnt say it made sense. Thats what the supervisors told us and some other guests knew as well. That when Arrow was bought out, to extend the 'warranty' on them (or whatever) the older Arrow coasters have to have the auto speils. I just know what I was told, and I was told all this more than once.
The only time that we would speil to guests on Iron Dragon (from controls) is when the train set up. The speil goes like this, "Welcome back riders we applogize for the delay, when the train comes to a complete stop please pull down and push up on your shoulder harness, and exit to the left, thank you for riding Iron Dragon and enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point America's Rockin Roller Coast Ride On". At least thats the way that I would say the speil when I was in controls. We were all thinking the same thing, how can we make this ride platform more exciting without breaking any rules, and as you can tell it didnt really happen at all. *** Edited 10/11/2006 1:29:55 AM UTC by Bootz3456***
